[[HIGHLIGHT]]Absolutely great to see this place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When you walk in first you are in a long hallway.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then you notice a fresh bakery on your right that bake specialty bread, but straight ahead is a large glass counter chock full of amazing pastries. If you make it past this, fair play to you, but my guess is that even if you do, you'll come back and choose something amazing, as they also make pizzas, entrees and drinks and to the right is a large sit down area to enjoy your choice. If you turn left at the counter you are going to enter a giant grocery store with fresh pita from Village bread which is superb ,but then row after row of tinned, bottled and packaged goods from all over the world. There is also a large butchers area where the butchers will cut the fresh meat in front of you, so you get exactly what you want. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The weekend is mad there, as it is packed. So if you can go on a weekday you will have a more enjoyable experience[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But it is not called a bazaar for nothing! I expect this is how packed a real bazaar overseas is. The store is a little small, and selections are limited- but that was to be somewhat expected since it's a specialty market. My partner is North Indian and we were looking for familiar foods but found that this had more foods/ items catering to the middle eastern palate. However, we did find small bags of flour and semolina for making roti/poori. We cannot find these anywhere else! So thank you and please keep these in stock. read more

I shop hear when i need Indian spices and mixes. There is a strong selection and prices are good. It is the sort of spot you need to know what you are looking for since service is not stellar, but the selection is strong and prices are good. Apna Bazaar is located on Beach Blvd next to the Indian/Pakistani restaurant of the same name [order the Frontier Chicken, promise]. While it carries pretty much the kind of things you would expect an Indian grocery to carry, the variety is way more than you usually see. Also, the staff always appears thrilled to see you. Its like walking into a little tiny Publix [but in Delhi or somewhere]. They have fresh vegetables and meat and, if you need to procure some goat organs, whoa buddy, you are in luck. But for those of us who are still just dipping our toes into the bounty of the East, the real draw here is the endless supply of high quality spices and herbs. I purchased a Tupperware container's worth of the best cayenne pepper I've ever used for $3! Apna also has a really good selection of frozen and premade foods. They have several great lines of Indian and Pakastani "TV dinners" that are cheap, tasty, and relatively healthy. We also love the frozen naan, and seriously, mixed pickle? Don't think about it, just go there and ask the smiling guy behind the counter to point you to it. All in all, a really cool place, worth a visit just for the cultural lesson if nothing else. But for those of us with a serious Indian jonesin', this is the place to pick up the ingredients for your DIY late night fix of spicy goodness! read more

Apna Bazar is a good Indian Grocery. I found myself in the store b/c earlier at the Riverside Arts Market, I bought some Naan. I wanted to pair it with some good Indian Cuisine. I wanted to get some ingredients to go with the naan. So I bought some ingredients to make Hummus and Paneer Makhani. They had all the ingredients I needed and were very helpful in helping me find some of the ingredients I couldn't. This will definitely be my go to place for Indian ingredients and also the great customer service. I def. want to try the restaurant next door! read more

Both the restaurant and grocery are fantastic! We'd moved to Jacksonville about a year ago missed our go-to Pakistani place. We're so thrilled to finally find this spot and enjoy beloved dishes like chicken makhani, daal, etc., followed by picking up grocery staples and treats like fresh produce, pita bread (way fresher and better priced than the chains), and other products you won't find at your big chain groceries. Absolutely disappointed. I bought 70 samosas for my brother's wedding reception. Out of those 70 pieces, most of them tasted bad like it wasn't fresh at all. The stuffing/fillings were spoiled and tasted horrible. It's not like I have never eaten samosa so I could tell it's definitely not fresh. None of the guests ate it and we had to put it in the trash. We were very disappointed. I and my family are never going to order from here again. We were let down by the lack of quality of food. Lesson learned. Won't happen again. My friend and I ate at the attached restaurant. Very welcoming, friendly service. I had just moved here but it was recommended to me when I asked around where some good Indian food was in Jax. I had been disappointed previously with dishes at other restaurants being too bland or sweeter than I anticipated. The chicken tikka masala here had great flavor. Rich and savory tomato goodness! I ordered mild only, but my friend ordered spicy and it was spicy indeed. She was impressed. The garlic naan was on point. I went to Indian restaurants a lot growing up, not liking any of the food I ate. After that, Indian food just wasn't something I liked. But yesterday, I tried to give it another try and ordered their butter chicken and paratha and oh my goodness. The chicken was tender and the sauce had so much flavor with it not being too overpowering. The paratha paired great with my butter chicken and I couldn't stop eating it. Their butter chicken is currently my favorite dish right now and I will definitely be going to this place more often. read more

I was there few min ago to get what I need for Ramadan ,I started with the meat area ,I picked couple stuff then I asked the guy inside (old man ) to give me a lamb shoulder from the walking cooler ,then he gave that look and star nagging with bad attitude ... so I just put everything back and I'm on my way to Costco to get some halal meat !! Absolutely terrible management. My family and I used to shop here all the time, and we decided to give their restaurant a try. We ordered take out and a bunch of dishes. Chicken biryani and butter chicken and what not. They ended up messing up our order with spice levels and some items were just missing. We called back and they said that our next order will be on them. So we called back a month later and the owner told us to come to the store while we wait for our order. We went and he was extremely rude and told us that if we want what was missing from our order then he'll give it and then to leave, after he told us our next order is on him. We gladly took our service to Bakkal where they were more than welcoming. I will be telling my entire family to shop at a different store. Basically they're scammers. You can also get much better spicy, flavorful ethnic food at Tabouleh. They also have the best management and family run restaurant in North Florida. read more

I used to go there to buy halal meat and groceries but it's just not worth it anymore. When it comes to meat selection, they're either too greedy or just plain lazy. Anytime I asked about a specific cut (nothing fancy) they wanted me to buy a lots of pounds before getting it from the cooler, or they would just tell you they don't have it. Question to the owners, a lot of people come to the store for the halal meat and end up buying more groceries, why would you want to turn them away ? read more

They have a restaurant which is really bad. Had health issues. It used to be good but now they are not. Also goat meat quality is not good.

Apna Bazaar is the only source we have for Halal meats and spices here in JAX. I think it is great we have such close proximity and ease of access to the store, rather than the long trek to Orlando that we used to make every few months! It is great to know in less than 20 minutes I can get my meats and spices and not have to plan out the week to travel hundreds of miles. The comunity should help them out by going more often and purchsaing items. That is if it were clean........................ The only downside is..... it is grossly disgustingly filthy. They really need to clean up and keep things clean and hygenic. The roof is crappy and leaking, the floor is oily and just grubby, the shelves are always sticky and dirty. The frozen section is dirty and disorganized (with ofcourse unruly customers who can't be bothered to be courteous enough to put things back). The whole place is dirty. CLEAN IT UP AND APNA WILL GET MORE BUSINESS THAN JUST ME. I need to say this so they do something before they go out of business and we need them for the halal meat! read more

Stopped by here on my way to Orlando. Had palak gosht and butter chicken, butter chicken was alright not that good but palak gosht was amazing. Lost a star because the waitress originally didn't bring out our naan when we asked for naan which came with our dish anyway she tried to charge us for extra naan and other stuff that the table next to is ordered. read more
