It's a huge comic book, graphic novel, Lego, D&D, role playing games to Funk, Anima or statues. It is very nice and fun inside. I love these stores. Because I read comics and graphic novels and love all this stuff!!!! A great find on my part. Check out the photos. Come visit this place! You will love it. A lot of locals and tourists in here shopping. I really love the Marvel section. There are signs in English and Norwegian.

We needed to replace the suitcase while we were in the city, and could not find anything anywhere…read more On the device of Claude we headed over to the shopping mall that this is in because we couldn't find anything in Yelp or Google maps on the first floor of the mall was a shop that was selling suitcases from US$700, which is crazy. This store is on the second floor. It's mostly a stationary store, and you wouldn't expect to find suitcases there, but they had around six different models in different sizes. Suitcases were listed at 25% off, I'm not sure if that's what they're always priced but we ended up getting the same size as the $700 suitcase for about $150 and it's better than the $700 one. The people were incredibly nice and friendly and helpful. If you're looking for an emergency suitcase or things to write with or write on, this is a place for you.

Whether you're Going on a Bear Hunt, or looking to lose yourself in tales of adventure, look no further than Where the Sidewalk Ends. Literally, look no further, as the store graces the corner of Strandgaten and Torgallmenningen. Norli is one of Norway's largest bookstores with 88 locations across the country. The large Strandgaten Norli that we visited spanned two floors...and multiple stories. Though the store was extremely crowded, the organized layout and modern, minimalist décor helped the space feel less claustrophobic. Though it lacked the character of a smaller independent bookstore, the store was squeaky clean and held several surprises within, including a spiral staircase to the second floor. The staircase was a piece of art in itself, reminding me of an Ammonite fossil when viewed from the top downwards. Aside from the sea of books, many other goodies could be found from cards, notebooks, writing utensils, and calendars to stuffed animals, games, and backpacks. In a surprising plot twist, witty signs with phrases like, "We are more than brutal Vikings, you know! Or are we...," mounted several of the book tables, providing incriminating proof that Norwegians are capable of more humor than they dare admit. Someone alert the bookarazzi! Most of the second floor was dedicated to the Norli Junior book section, Where the Wild Things Are. An area was also designated to keep munchkins occupied, comprised of owl chairs, and a table of contents including paper, and writing utensils. I only purchased two books for my nephew from this store, Lille Frosk and Gravosaurer, a book about construction trucks with dinosaur features. Though I have no idea what any of the words mean, there are plenty that appear to be onomatopoeic. I'll just do my best to pronounce them with extra animation in Fauxrwegian. If you visit Bergen, take a page out of my book and stop in to find a souvenir for your favorite bookworm or bibliophile...even if they can't read in Norwegian. The "House of Litterature" in Bergen contains so much more than the restaurant that it has so far…read morebeen reviewed for. The establishment opened January 2013 and is the "home" for writers in Bergen, as well as a stage for debates, readings, launches, kids' events etc. In addition it has a brasserie and a café on the first level. One Tuesday every month they are hosting the event "Ut med språket", focusing on linguistics and the history and meaning behind common and less common words in the Norwegian language. The show is lead by the TV personality Linda Eide, together with professor in Nordic languages, Gunnstein Akselberg. They also have various guests attending, in addition to an engaged audience. Last Tuesday that guest happened to be my sister, invited to present dialect words from our home town, in addition to discuss her work on her master thesis; looking into the use of "-ish" in the Norwegian language. The show is entertaining (in Norwegian) and is representing just one of the experiences you can get from visiting Litteraturhuset in Bergen.

I've been wanting to go to an ice bar and I can't think of a better place than in Norway! We had so…read moremuch fun! The bar is really quite amazing. The ice sculptures and creativity is just stunning. Everything's made of ice and is a work of art. I definitely recommend dressing warmly because the coat and gloves just aren't enough. It's freezing! Your body does adapt after some time but it's a lot more comfortable if you come prepared. The seats are also made of ice but are covered in furs to make you a little more comfortable. There are little seating sections, separated by walls, giving you a bit of privacy with your party. The lights are dimmed and the ice is lit up in beautiful colors. It's truly an experience. The bartender pops in and out, so that he doesn't freeze to death, so be patient. This was definitely a one of a kind experience. There are a few packages to choose from so you can tailor the experience to you and your desires.

We went late one evening to try it out, as none of us had been to a place like this before. Since they were in the process of carving new ice sculptors, admission was half price. For 100kr, we got a huge warm coat, gloves, and 1 drink. We had a blast inside. It was SUPER cold, but the attire kept us warm. We just couldn't take the gloves off for long. The bartender was really cool and hung out with us for a bit as it was really slow. There was a party of 3 when we first entered, but ended up being the only ones in there by the end. They had a pretty good drink menu, however the drinks were EXTREMELY weak. To the point where I didn't taste any alcohol and didn't receive any buzz. It was like drinking kool-aid. Other than that, it was a lot of fun, and we got some great pictures. They have music playing, so you can dance too.

7/4/2024 - I have been coming here daily to grab beer and snacks and little sandwiches. They stop…read moreselling alcohol here in Norway at 8pm and on Saturdays at 3pm. For 130 NOK or about $13 US Dollars I bought a soda can, loaf of bread, and 2 sandwiches. If I bought this at the fish market it would have cost $50 at least. The grocery store is across the street from the fish market and visitor center on the hotel side. Not the shipping side. See photos. A hidden gem to save money is here!!

That was done quickly!…read more I think I've only been visiting Kløverhuset for specific shops the latter years, cause when I revisited on Saturday for "shopping" with friends, I was disappointed and surprised to experience how boring it us. I think the highlights are the dress shop Coast, the Day Birger et Mikkelsen on the first floor and the Netty lingerie in the basement. You will also find nice, expensive designer's wear at Scabal, but there's a high risk that you will find the same clothes on every second 14-year-old in the city, who's parents have either too much money or bad conscience, or a combination of the two. The centre is the oldest in the city, dating back to 1852, so I'm cheering on Kløverhuset and hope they find a better mix of shops and services to put themselves back into the game.

The location is just across the road for one of the entrances to the big, underground parking house "Klostergarasjen", so you don't have to carry your new crushes long to get them home with you. Illums is the place to go for gift shopping, for inspiration, for setting up your wedding present list or for finding everything you need to decorate your home. The centre is popular, but not crowded, and pricey without ruin you. A treat for a rainy day.

I stopped by the Bergen location a…read moreweek ago and found a mountain of beautifully designed items from salad servers, candle holders, lamp shades to calculators. The store is conveniently located downtown and the perfect stop for anyone with discerning tastes or anyone shopping for those with discerning tastes. If you're not stopping, I still recommend stopping by for a look to experience great design. During the holidays, they have specials on unique items everyday. They have the day and the highlighted item posted on the window and wall right when you enter.
