She was generous with her time, company and supplies, providing fanny packs full of snacks and bottled water for all and gloves and knee pads to make the experience easier on our bodies. My group of 4 (3 first timers) had a fabulous time exploring Worley's Cave with her. Beginners can feel confident and at ease with how well she obviously knows the cave. Folks with caving experience looking for a little extra challenge will also get lots of opportunities for "side missions" to shimmy and crawl through small spaces, although there is no pressure to participate in those if someone would rather not be in tight spaces. There was no sidewalk as the entrance is in the back of the building. Plenty of parking if you drive there. We had to walk in the road. The stops were communicated but not well marked and no map to show exactly where they were located. We had tried walking to a stop but with no specific street address it was not possible. We returned to the place we were dropped off at a few minutes before the time the trolley was scheduled to leave and the trolley was pulling out. We were able to flag down the driver to finish our tour. The pass is good for 2 days so we may try to return to another area although it might be simpler to just drive. If Gray line posts maps with specific locations and adds a walkway at the visitors center it would vastly improve the experience.

You can tell that the owner has put her heart and soul into making this tour great and genuinely cares about each guests experience. The tour itself was the perfect length and had the perfect amount of stops to get you full but not too full. The tour supposedly doesn't always have the same restaurants or the same dishes which is awesome if you want to do it twice. The food everywhere was great and each chef had a very nice blurb to give about their history. The walking portion was nice because it gave you a view at the beautiful quaint town of Black Mountain including the historic district. Sandy was so thoughtful she even recommended a brewery for my boyfriend and I to check out following the tour. She said she thought we would love it and we did. He was very personable, entertaining, and knowledgeable. They were very accommodating to my 80-something-year-old grandparents who were able to ride in a car, listen to the tour through speaker phone, but not have to walk from place to place. The food at every stop was great! They were also accommodating to the food allergies a few family members had, which was fantastic! We can't say enough about how great the tour was. My wife stumbled across Wandering Llamas while researching things to do during our annual spring…read morebreak adventure. We spent two nights in the fox den treehouse which is located in one of the llama pasture areas. The "treehouse" is a elevated wooden shed like structure that has been refurbished into a pleasant little hideaway in the Smoky's. The treehouse has a nice deck to sit and enjoy the mountain view. There's also a nice swing chair and firepit to enjoy as well. The treehouse has electricity with a small electric heater to take the chill out. The treehouse was very clean and the bed unbelievably comfortable. The treehouse is a one and only. If you are renting here you have the treehouse and llamas all to yourself. The property owner and host (Sandy) lives on the property and is available if you are in need of anything. Sandy is very personable and will spend time sharing of herself with her guests. On the llama walk each person usually gets there own llama to walk with. Sandy accompanies you and can answer any llama related question you may have. The walk is at a very leisurely pace and lasts about two hours. The llamas are easy to walk and well behaved. Contrary to popular opinion of some the llamas did not spit at one another. One thing to be aware of if staying in the treehouse is there is no running water and only a fancy bucket of a toilet in an outhouse under the treehouse. This didn't bother us, but for some that don't care for "roughing it" I could see it as a drawback. (There is a gas station about a mile away that we used the bathroom at. We are members of the YMCA at home. There's a Y a few miles away and with the Y reciprocity program we were able to go there to take a hot shower. The Wandering Llama was an awesome get away experience for us and Sandy is a great host. We appreciate her sharing her llamas.

A super fun, unique outing if you are spending time in the Smoky Mountains, about a 1.5 hour drive…read morefrom our cabin in Sevierville. We booked the 2-hour wine and cheese tour because it was the only tour that had open spots left (we booked about a week ahead). We skipped the wine and cheese part due to our concerns about COVID (the food is served in their open gazebo, so it's relatively safe - we just prefer taking extra precautions and had already eaten lunch just before we got there), but the llama hike alone was well worth it. The walk, about 1.5 hours total time, is along the gravel road, which is a little hilly, but manageable if you're fit (not so much if you have small kids that don't do a lot of walking). Most of the time was spent relaxing in an open field - very socially distant from the other eight people in our group - where we fed the llamas and took lots of pictures. The llamas are super friendly and so soft! Though Sandy (the owner) provides animal crackers and strawberries for the llamas to enjoy during the middle of the hike, definitely bring your own -- we brought graham crackers and sliced apples to feed them throughout the walk, and the llamas LOVE to eat! Sandy is very friendly and welcoming and took pictures of everyone during the hike, which she emailed to us later. A great highlight of our trip!

Clearly, this place is marketed to resemble Natural Bridge, Virginia's better known (and frankly,…read moremore impressive) attraction. The park here is set up with a number of camping facilities and trails that have a separate entrance, while the attraction itself is accessible by parking at a visitor center and either walking down a fairly steep trail or taking a (seasonal) chairlift. On the dreary day I visited, there was barely a soul in sight, but the park seemed to be setting up for a winter lights festival. The tunnel itself is used for a railroad line, and a viewing platform allows you to go to the edge of the tunnel but you can't actually go through it, which is disappointing. The trail downstream through the gorge is pleasant and worth a brief jaunt but it terminates quickly. Those seeking more of a hike will find the ridge trail that heads upwards worthwhile, and the views of the tunnel from above are probably at least as good as what you'd get walking up close to it. The local Lover's Leap is majestic (and horrifying, if you think about it). I did not think it one of the more impressive state parks in either Virginia or in the the confluence of states in this region, but there are some nice things to see.

Definitely stop by the park office on the way in to ask about the trails, the ranger we met was incredibly helpful and highlighted some great trails. I've been to a good few state parks, and these are some of the most friendly rangers you could find- don't be afraid to ask them questions! I highly recommend taking the chairlift- this allows you to get down to (and more importantly, back up from) the tunnel and creek easily. If you have small kids or limited mobility, definitely choose the chairlift, as the walk back up involves many stairs. If planning to bring kids: for the upper trail (Lover's Leap), I recommend age at least 7-8, maybe younger if athletic (hills and stairs) and able to listen to directions. There are fences in place, just make sure nobody will try to climb them. For the lower area (getting to ground level of the tunnel) depends on whether you use the chairlift- with the chairlift, it's accessible for young ones as the area is pretty flat with just a few steps and small humps. Without the chairlift, make sure they're old enough to be ready to climb a LOT of steps. Overall, a really nice park with great rangers. Especially nice with the holiday lights!
