My grandson is severe dyslexia, and since his diagnosis in Kindergarten, he has struggled in school which affected his confidence, self esteem , He has attended Learning Center in Barboursville WV, Marshall University Help Program for 5 years, Dr. Leadingham in Ashland Ky, online program started in Canada based out of Virginia none of which was successful or changed his grade level of reading from 1st grade, he is now 15 in ninth grade, has only been going to Appalachian Reading Center since January and I cannot say enough positive things about his success thus far, our family felt so defeated at every IEP meeting and last year we took him out of school due to emotional and bullying, he is now a freshman making progress without IEP and building self confidence. Marshall University said he was the worst case of dyslexia they had seen in 19 years. He still has a long road but has made leaps and bounds of progress when everything else failed. Many thanks to Laura and staff for giving us hope and proving your methods of teaching works. He can learn, he just needs to be taught different. I recommend their teamwork and willingness to have the students at best interest. We spent so much money with no results, in public school, private Christian school, after school tutors, hearing, eye test, a teacher who said she thought he would never be able to learn or read. He took a recent test of 50 questions and got 100%, without having it read to him for the first time. read more
