This hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the city center (depending on how fast you walk), but it still has a good location to a supermarket and other shops. I've stayed in a B&B Hotel in Paris so I was familiar with the style and layout of this hotel. Speaking French is a plus, but they have a limited knowledge of English and some other languages. They assign individual codes to open up the door to the room, so don't lose that piece of paper! The rooms are small (normal for European standards), but comfortable. The bed was small, but since I'm a small person, it didn't bother me. Breakfast offered cereal, juices, yogurt, jams, nutella, croissant, tea, coffee. I helped myself to a croissant and some nutella and tea. The hotel was clean and a nice place to stay in Nimes.

After getting off the phone, I remember thinking that the hotel has excellent customer service. When we arrived, the front desk person only spoke French. We basically communicated to each other buy hand gestures and expressions. Although we couldn't communicate in the same language, the gestures were fine. We figured out where we could park and what information he needed to get checked in. Again, this person was super nice and patient about the entire process. Our room was a little older looking but it was nice enough for a short stay. All I cared about was its cleanness, which it was. The beds were comfortable enough and I slept like a rock. There were absolutely no noise issues at all. The tv and internet worked too, though the internet was pretty slow. The one major issue I had about this place was that our room's bathroom were in two separate rooms. The shower room was pretty tight and as tall people, we had to kind of maneuver during our shower to not to hit the wall or curtains. It was pretty cheap staying here. For the price, I didn't mind that the shower was tight or the internet was a bit slow. It was definitely a great deal staying here since the hotel is located at the heart of town. You can easily walk to all the main attractions. They don't have a parking structure so you have to park your car about 5-10 minutes away from the hotel. It was about 8 E to park there for 24 hours. Not a bad deal.

I came here in 2007 and stayed for 3 nights. The staff were friendly and eager to practice their English, and were very helpful with giving tips on where to eat and shop in town, and about places to visit nearby, like Arles, Avignon, and the Pont du Gard. Friends in France pointed out that Novotel is the only brand that can dependably accommodate foursomes. Then Novotel it is. My first encounter in this one was in their restaurant which was rather disappointing. The pasta was not cooked through. The burger was a joke and the server had BO. We skipped the restaurant one morning and got breakfast in our room. That was massive! The room was satisfactory. It was tiny but it did have a lovely view of the park across the street. However, some remodeling has been done to update just enough that you still get the old, classic feel of the hotel while enjoying modern-day amenities like a nice bathroom and TV. I enjoyed the feel of this hotel because much of it was left like it was in the 19th century, including the original door keys and elevator. The rooms were a bit tight (especially if there were multiple beds), but it was a really nice kind of cozy that was luxurious. The continental breakfast was good, including an omelette bar and the prices for drinks and late-night snacks were reasonable. Each room had a mini-bar, as well, which made snacking convenient before turning out the lights. This is a really great hotel in a nice, small town. You can walk through most of Nimes from this spot and you're only about five minutes away from Les Arenes. Lots of good restaurants nearby and the hotel serves dinner if you're tired and don't feel like moving much. Highly recommended if you're ever in the area.
