Yesterday, I drove an hour to get there, than waited two hours for an appt. since there was no reason for me to drive home to drive back as soon as I got home. I wish Apple promoted online appointment setup for needs, had I had known this I would have chose this option. The guy that checked me in was very friendly and he also ended up being the one to help assist me with my phone that needed repair. The speakers unbeknownst to me were extremely low in volume, I never realized it until I heard someone's phone compared to mine. I thought the phone was ultimately going to lead to my next review at miracle ear. He told me I needed new speakers and that it would be $70 bucks because it was out of warranty. Kicker I needed to come back the next day to pick up the repaired phone. Leave, DRIVE HOME, and I get an email my phone is ready for pickup. A minute before they closed I received the email. I would have waited for it. I go back the next day wait again and finally I get my repaired phone. It was missing a coiler from manufacturing, so they replaced and ended up not charging me. Had it not been for the wait I would have provided more stars. They were very friendly and honest, if only there was more visibility for appointments, wait times and more staffing. read more

Madcap consumerism on display in a sleek, narrow, all-walks-of-life venue. The selection is pretty solid and varied, and if you seek out help, you'll find it, albeit after a wait. I've had good luck with Geniuses in technical matters, good support in purchasing anything from a Mac to several iPhones to small accessories, and their scheduling system helps to sort out the mass demand. One star off for needing to have real resolve to wade through the throng of people always in there, but generally speaking, this location handles all comers adeptly. read more

Great store and very helpful. Loved that I can take any Apple Product in to the Genius Bar and get it fixed for free! They are pretty honest, but push their products which makes sense because they are a store. Clearly there is something wrong with your system.... My screen is unfortunately shattered, annoying all in itself... And if the thought of having to make an appointment and fight the crowds of people in the store and in the end pay $150 isn't enough to drive you to drink, the only Apple Store nearby is in the Providence Place Mall... That takes an entire evening just to get to, pay to park etc... Get with it Apple, Nobody wants to go to that mall. It just isn't convenient... FOR ANYONE! So I called last Thursday to see if they had any time to repair my phone that evening... Well, come to find out its the same hassle to try and get an Apple appointment as it is my dermatologist... So we made the appointment for 7 pm this past Monday... I canceled plans, and freed up my evening... Off to the mall we went. When you arrive, you are greeted at the door, then you are told to follow someone to the middle of the store where they dump you off and tell you to wait in the double line of people to check in. It was finally my turn and after I gave him all my info I was told to move to the front right-hand side of the store and wait for a technician. Finally, now that I passed through TSA and was cleared for my appointment the man looked at my phone, told me a million times that I risk losing all my data and photos (Ok, but you are just swapping out screens....) and proceeded to inform me that they were out of iPhone 7 plus screens and that they would need to order it and would call me when it came in..... WHAT? Please, please let me know how ANY of this makes sense? I legit spoke to someone on the phone to make my appointment. Please tell me why you had me make an appointment, cancel plans, trek down to the damn mall only to tell me that you needed to place an order... This is no special order, it's an iPhone 7 for christ sakes... I'm sure they aren't low on any iPhones 7 for you to purchase.... The only thing I got was... I can't say anything super bad about this Apple story, it is probably the one and only one I have been in and I hope to keep it that way. I bought an iPod, the person that sold it to me was nice and helpful, it was really busy but I didn't have to wait. She helped me pick out a case and what not. I do agree that all of the RI riff raff like to come in here and use the computers with no intention of purchasing anything (that is what the library is for!), it can get annoying, that is probably why I don't go in there at all. If I ever need an iPod accessory or whatnot I may just go to Target instead. read more

We pay for the phone outright to find out when we got home they didn't give us a SIM card to activate it so it's useless until we get this sim. I was very satisfied with my visit to the Genius Bar. I had informed the person making the Bar appointments that i was going to be seeing a movie, to which is responded with "lets see what we can do." with a happy to help attitude. Dale at the Genius Bar was able to assist me and replace my inflating powerbook battery. I also with Dale and Managers help was able to get a replacement battery at no cost, saving me 120 dollars of money i don't really have, even with my Apple Care a month expired. This bit of understanding and lee-way of my situation, both financial and technical made this experience a great one. I recommend this store as the location to visit for my friends and family in need of Mac products and assistance. A note to add for sure is, call ahead if you can, this store gets mighty crowded. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. They had no appointments available, per usual, so I was put on a walk in list. Fine, I expected that. Two hours later, I finally get called to see someone. The Apple representative we got put with was incredibly condescending and frankly not helpful. He barely even looked at my phone, just went off the description that was given to him and said that I needed a new phone. My phone won't connect to wifi in most places and the GPS doesn't work. I was told this was likely a software issue when I first walked in. The rep we had barely even did a diagnostics test on it, and only after I asked, and decided it was a hardware issue without putting more than 5 minutes in of work looking at it. He then chastised me for being 70 days out of warranty and for not getting the Apple Care. His tone was super condescending and both my friend and I were completely taken aback. Not everyone can afford the Apple Care and I only just recently started having the problem as it occurred after returning from Asia. My phone is only a year old and it's not even paid off, so I refuse to get a new one like the rep was trying to sell me. I avoid going to the Apple store for this very reason but this was unreal. Tell you that your phone would have a trade in value of $300 and end up being only $105 for iPhone 7 Plus . iPhone 7 Plus has a defect called loop disease and apple will not back there products if it's out of the one year warranty. I was just at the Providence Place Apple store to get a new phone and although there were a few technical problems with the data transfer (due to my inability to remember passwords), Ngozi was beyond stellar. She was friendly and funny and knowledgeable, endlessly patient and resourceful, and rather than make me finish the process at home on the phone with an Apple genius, she went way beyond the call of duty and did it herself on my laptop. I always dread having to set up a new device, but Ngozi changed my mind. (I also think the new store is far nicer than the old one, airier, moe spacious and more light.) read more

I made an appointment with my phone, i had several things I needed to investigate. I was seated by a person with a little white apple on their shirt, so I felt confident I was listening to the right person, however there were many people with little white apples on their shirts. The person who helped me was very friendly and made eye contact so I was relieved they were confident. They quickly cleaned the port of my phone where the charger slides in and gave me some useful info. about the the car connection. I'm a Dave Ramsey finance guy so I always take the time to share about good common sense and not purchasing something you can not pay cash for. It is amazing how many people can find "crumbs" as Nancy Pelosi would say for a new phone. I did not have to pay a dime for all the service and repair today so I'm sticking with my same phone. This is my first time in the new store at Providence Place. Every product I have is Apple for over a dozen years so I am one of the faithful brainwashed followers. My niece and I went in last week to get her computer for college. We had an idea of what we were looking for but had some questions. Bruce helped us who has helped me many times in the past with always wonderful service. We had a great experience and when you're spending that kind of money on a computer and accessories you want to be sure you are getting the right equipment. The Apple discounts are helpful but the free beats was the cool thing, I'm very jealous of her rose gold beats! They got her all setup with her college email, etc. she walked out ready to go. Phone died (literally) on Saturday, a few days before leaving for a ten-day sojourn in Ireland. Spent much time on the phone and internet with an Apple tech on Sunday, to no avail (thank you Tina J). Had an appointment slated for today (Monday) and the tech (Ren) was not only empathetic to my situation, but could not have been more helpful. My appt was at 3:40 in the afternoon and I was back on the road with a new phone and all apps in place by before 5. Could not be more pleased. read more

I went to the mall today to get an iPod screen repaired because I had the AppleCare+ warranty. I DID NOT have an appointment, but the gentleman took my name and told me it would be about 1 1/2 hours and I would receive a text when they were ready for me. I figured I could just roam around the mall for the wait time. When the time frame had passed, I went and checked how much longer. He then told me I was given a 5 HOUR wait time when I signed it. I told him I was definitely not given that timeframe, because if I had been, I would have just left and come back. Then he said paperwork would have to be done so I asked to do the paperwork while I was still there and No, he definitely couldn't do that. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Like they couldn't have taken the 10 minutes - I even doubt it would take that long - to have me fill it out and leave the iPod there and just come back and pick it up when it was repaired?? This place definitely needs to be run better with all the employees that are working there. read more

I went in last minute, no appointment made online and was greeted at the door promptly. She took all my info down and reserved exactly what I was looking for. She told me to go over to one of the tables where the model of the computer I was purchasing was on display and someone would be there to help me. Within a minute, I was being helped by Enrique, a friendly and knowledgeable employee. He helped me walk through getting applying for an AppleCard and talked some Apple technology as It was being approved. Once approved, he checked me out and I was done within twenty minutes of being in the store, to which, I was amazed because they were super busy, being a Saturday. Once I was about to leave, he asked if I had anymore shopping to do in the mall, to which I did not. He then asked if I wanted to be walked to my car in the parking garage, which I happily said yes. I was thinking the entire time how nervous I was that I was going to have to walk through the mall with this expensive item, to my car. I'm a small statures female and people can be jerks... so, you can never be too careful. He let his team lead know he would be taking me to my car. THAT is great customer service - he went above and beyond to make sure that I was safe. THANK YOU ENRIQUE! You rock! MANAGEMENT, give this person a raise or some sort of recognition! Our overall service at your Providence place Mall location in RI was terrible. We brought a phone in for a review by your "genius" British Accent and he spent 3 minutes with us and was rude and not helpful at all. He did not offer to run a diagnostic or even handle the phone himself. He did offer us to buy another refurbished phone for $350. We then proceeded to the sales area and waited for 20 minutes before a very nice employee by the name of Stephanie approached us. She was helpful and could not believe the amount of time spent by the genius and offered to have the lead tech to come over. Bottom line we did not buy a phone here and will never come back. I had an Genius appointment at 12:30. I show up and check in with an employee in the front of the store. He directed me to sit at a table so I walked over and sat down. I then proceeded to wait almost 1.5 hours and watched 9 people get served at the same table I was sitting at. Then proceeded to get a "Genius" help me in a rude condescending manner like I was in-convincing him and his work day. New location in the mall is worse that the old one. The space is larger but more chaotic and confusing. Customers walk in and there is no clear direction on where to go. At least the other location had a genius bar which pointed you in a direction. My appointment was for 2:10 and I arrived at 1:54pm and was told I could not check in because I was too early...who ever heard of such a thing? I was told to go find a seat and check in 5 minutes before the appointment. All I could think is that they are encouraging people to be late. First off, ask for Al. This review would have gotten 1 star if not for him. I broke the screen on my 128gb IPhone 6. It was entirely my own fault but non-the-less an accident. I scheduled "Genius bar" appointment and was told over the phone and in person upon first examination of the phone it'd be $109 for a new screen for the phone which I was more than happy to pay. A technician came out and examined the phone and told me there were two major things "number one, make sure everything is backed up, there is no guarantee our SUPER DUPER SCREEN FIXING CALIBRATION MACHINE might not wipe out your phone of everything." Hold on. Hold on. A machine back there that you Genius' are running might wipe my phone out? Makes sense. The second red flag should have been when they made me turn the "Find my IPhone" setting off. "Why" I asked "just in case you guys lose my phone back there or decide not to give it back" I joked. The guy didn't make eye contact with me but smiled staring down at his stupid iPad. So the second he said to me was "number two is there is a chance we will have to replace the whole phone for the price of $299" I said nothing at first thinking about how much I just spent on the phone a few months ago. But before I could say anything this Genius tech says "but judging by the condition of the exterior casing and the rest of the condition I'd say there's about .5% chance of that. It's very very unlikely but I do have to warn you" I thought with those odds I'm willing to go forward with the repairs. They tell me an hour and I walk out. I come back to be greeted by a pretentious man who seemed to be the Genius ring leader. I tell him my info multiple times only to be cut off by him saying "not done yet, probably another 20 minutes or so" I walk away and my friend and I browse the store. That's when we met Al. Great guy, knowledgable, down to earth. Defiantly knew the products well and just about talked me into buying the new iMac with the 5k Retina display. So further into our talking he asked what was going on and I explained I was still waiting for my fix. My friend and Al continued talking and I went and checked in again with "pretentious ring leader" I asked what was happening and he said "ah yes, couldn't get it to calibrate the phone. We'll have to replace the whole phone" ALL OF MY SUSPICIONS THAT I WAS BEING DUPED INTO SPENDING $299 TOWARD A NEW PHONE HAD JUST COME TO LIFE. ".5% I was told" (still wish I remember the guy's name) "Give me old phone back then" I demanded "Yeah, I'll talk to the tech in charge, see if that's possible" "Oh okay so aka you're going to give me my old phone back with the screen removed and charge me a $79 service charge?" ... (Mumbles something into his shoulder radio thing)... I was furious. I was about to walk out with no phone at all. I went back to my friend and Al and explained what had happened. Al said "let me look into what's going on back there" After only a few minutes Al returned and kindly explained exactly what had happened and that he could understand why I was upset and was very understanding. Al resolved the entire situation without getting into specific details and couldn't have been more helpful. Complete morons who work in this store. They don't have the slighest clue about how their operating systems or any of their apps work. And they don't honor their apple care warranties either. I had a defective iphone a year ago which was having hardware and software issues and they refused to honor the warranty to replace it. Then before that I was looking for an imac and I had a few salesmen try selling me an ipad when I was clearly looking for an imac. Recently I was in apple trying to learn how logic pro x worked and majority of their sales people didn't have a clue. It was utterly pathetic and mind you these are the same people who are trying to sell these products that don't know how they work. Do yourself a favor and buy one off of ebay or amazon and don't deal with these people or buy a pc which can be customized any way you need at a much more affordable price than what this company price gouges their merchandise at. read more

Don't bother wasting your time here. Every time I've come in here, it's always packed with people taking up space using the place as an internet cafe. However, today was the day I've sworn off ever stepping foot in here forever, after I get refunded for my pointless purchase which I'm about to get into. I needed (still need) to get a replacement battery for my Macbook circa 2009. I took the battery with me to ensure I would get the right one. To their credit, I was helped much quicker than usual (usually around 20 minutes of standing there waiting for someone). As soon as I got home, and took the battery out of the package, it was nowhere close to being the same model as the one I took in. Therefore I have to make another trip back to the store to return it, when all this could have been averted had they compared the battery I brought in with the battery I purchased. Corey the "Check In" guy ruined my experience. He didn't believe that I had an appointment so he proceeded to raise his eyebrows and kept saying, "Okayyyyyyyyyyuh" And my face was mirroring his face so it sucked for everybody involved. I was told on the phone to come in as early as possible after my first online scheduled genius bar appointment was a waste of time (Apple Customer Service told me that my parts would be ready for repair when I went in, and Genius Bar told me that my parts had never been ordered because of internal communication errors). I went to this store so I could sit in it for 40 minutes while a guy ordered the parts, so I was wondering why we had email, phone and live chat which could have replaced my first visit). They realized I had been given the runaround based on the notes so the technician told me to come in early, and just come right up to the genius bar. Corey refused to believe this so he asked me to sit and he really seemed to be suspicious so I told him to just check the notes on my case. He just asked me to sit. The reason I got really annoyed - an older woman storms in and tells Corey, "....OK. I don't have an appointment. My phone keeps locking bla blab blabala" And Corey is like, "Oh No! That's not good! Let's see what we can do here. Hmm. Ok Right this way ma'am". Corey - we can hear you because you made us sit next to you... I also gave feedback to Apple about this but - seems like the appointment system here is bullpoop and if u happen to be an older white lady with attitude, things will probably go well for you. read more

I am a big Apple fan. Unfortuatnely my wife's MacBook Pro has had 3 hard drive failures and it is only one and a half years old.
