We are moving across country and pulled into a hotel for the night. Places a pick-up order online. We can usually count on consistency at Applebee's, however. My cup of tomato bisque, was mostly croutons and a bit of soup. My Caesar salad had a lot of "pink" salad...and no Caesar dressing. No utensils for me or my hubs. Too tired to walk back over. Please be mindful of these things, as most people coming through this restaurant are probably tired, and not wanting to come back to get things corrected. read more

Walked in the door to the sound of women fighting in the kitchen. Cussing, rattling shelves, and a woman screening "you're not gonna talk about me bitch". Helga from dodgeball came from the kitchen with a red face and threw a salt and pepper shaker across the table (unoccupied). Waited for 10 minutes at the door to be walked past like we didn't exist. Typical Applebee's setting with dirty floors, tables needing bussed, and sticky syrup on the table. Bartenders had a serious case of RBF. Couldn't make a vodka sprite correctly if their life depended on it. Ordered a salad with no croutons and received a crouton salad topped with a piece of lettuce. Milkshake consisted of 50% milkshake and 50% of whipped topping. Pasta was cold and chicken tenders were old. Only positive I have was the steak was at least warm. read more

Ok, I usually don't feel the need to post a review for chain restaurants, as you pretty much know what you're signing up for when you walk through the doors..... HOWEVER, I felt the need to post my positive experience here after reading some not-so-great reviews that were posted a while ago. Our (adult) drinks were good. I ordered a margarita, and the 'extra' that came in the shaker cup was a complete second pour. Our appetizers (we ordered the 3 for $13 deal) were all great and hot tableside. The food was hot, well seasoned, and prepared correctly... In my opinion, better than usual for a chain bar/grille. Our server (I don't remember her name, but the reciept says "Emily M.") was pleasant, made great suggestions, and offered things to do in the town, as we were in Mt. Vernon for a few days on business. read more

Service was below standard for Apple Bees! I placed my order over the phone and when I go there 20 minutes later (time given), my food was not ready and had to wait another 10 mins. The restaurant was scarcely populated so I was unsure why the service was so slow. When I received my order, I was missing food that I ordered on the phone so the waiter had to fetch those. One of my order was out of supply and missed condiments to go with my meal. Overall it was just a bad experience at this location. My wife and I walked in the place and it wasn't busy. We stood waiting to be seated, had 3 workers walk right past us and not say a thing. Finally someone came from the back and seated us. Our waitress was running around all over the place and the other waitresses were sitting around talking with the bartender and 2 guys from the back. Floors had stuff all over them. The manager sit at the bar the entire time. The food didn't have very much flavor and the ribs were like chewing on a rubber band. Our waitress Carmon H. Was very good. Hi, it saddens me deeply to report such poor service from my local Applebees . As a former AppleBuddy I was taught to serve each guest as if they was eatin good in my neighbored. October 25th 2023, our 3rd grade flag football team suffered a hard loss and the only way I thought to cope with the pain was to indulge In $1 margs. I had to seat myself because the host was none existent. While sitting at the bar top my thirst only grew more because the A/C wasn't working. I sat there thirstier than a cactus that hasn't seen a rain cloud in months. After 15 minutes or so the bartender appeard and asked if I needed help which I replied with I would just like a margarita. She said she was busy and give her a few minutes. Those minutes turned into 20 where I watched her several times on her personal phone. At which point I excused myself and decided to leave. After that experience it sickens me to even say this but, im officially done and taking my buisness to our arch rivals Chilis. It's too late to help me but I hope you see how serious of a problem you have at mount Vernon Illinois Applebees. And maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to save an innocent soul from going through what I has to go through. read more

I never really expect much from an Applebee's and would never feel the need to leave a review but this place exceeded my abilities to keep my opinion to myself. We showed up before 11:00 PM, the place was not busy what so ever, and it took about 10 minutes before someone asked us what we wanted for drinks and food. Drinks came a few minutes after ordering and the water tasted like dirt. 27 minutes after the drinks came the 2 appetizers we ordered. Mind you, it was not at all busy in there. I started with the wonton tacos and they were WAY over sauced and soggy. I've ordered these tacos many times and they've never been that spicy or tasted that weird. The spinach artichoke dip was half full and looked like guacamole... it was also not warm enough to melt the shredded cheese on top. Also, the tortilla chips were stale. The manager came over smelling like an ash tray, which was incredibly repulsive, to see what we were complaining about. I told him and he argued with me. Said it was impossible for the tortilla chips to be stale because he personally made them an hour ago. Said the spinach artichoke dip may look like guacamole but he assured me it's not... (that's not what I thought it was, I was just saying what it looks like and it's not supposed to look like that). Told him the tacos were soggy and way too spicy and he said, "that's just the Asian sauce".... I told him I ordered these many times before and they've never tasted like this and I'm not eating any of it. He said he would take them off the bill and brought the bill over for the Pepsi I barely drank. I don't mind paying for the drink, which is why I didn't get up and walk out, but never in the history of ever has the customer service been so poor that I've been charged for a soda after that bad of an experience. read more

I came here to meet up with some friends to catch up while I was in town. Every time I come here the service is always hit or miss and unfortunately today was definitely a miss in terms of food and service! I arrived a bit later than the other people in my party and after arriving and sitting for about 10 minutes, the server hadn't asked for my drink order. Finally, I had to tell her what I wanted to drink. Then, came ordering which was pretty smooth. After waiting a bit longer the appetizers came. Our server then brought plates out and slammed them on the table so loudly that I feel the whole restaurant could hear it! Okay, maybe I'm over exaggerating a bit but nonetheless it was still pretty loud, ugh. Finally the food came. My entree was surprisingly cooked well. I had the 2 for $20 deal and had the boneless wings and bourbon chicken with shrimp and fried potatoes. My friend had a chicken sandwich and as I glanced at it, I thought the color of the bun was off but it turned out to be MOLD!!! After telling the what seemed to be the manager, she didn't seem too phased...I guess this was normal for them...GROSS. My other friend had the pasta which was cold, overcooked and dry. How do you mess something like this up? She then preceded to ask ther server for more sauce which the server agreed to get so she waited and waited and waited...finally everyone was finished with the meal and the sauce was still missing. We finally asked the server for the sauce again and boxes since we were catching a movie soon. The server wasn't even apologetic!! At this point, I didn't even care. I just wanted to pay and go. Lesson of the day: save your money and go elsewhere because the food and service is unpredictable and subpar. Don't take the risk. read more

Calling the restaurant seemingly has accomplished nothing, so I'll add a Yelp review. Three weeks ago or so, my wife and I ordered two sirloins cooked medium via telephone. My wife picked them up and drove with them all the way across town to where we live near the airport. I understand that during this drive the steaks will cool a bit, as well as continue to cook a little longer. Because steaks continue to cook after being taken off the grill. One, they messed up our order sides wise. Two, which is what irritated me the most, the steaks were RARE. Rare to the point that I would not eat them. It was unacceptable. So I called the store, just to let them know what had happened, and if you're going to offer the car side to go, they need to MAKE SURE the orders are cooked and prepared correctly. Because people do not have the option of cutting into their steaks and seeing if they are cooked properly, while sitting in their Chevy Malibu. She apologized and said she would send me a comp for my meal in the mail, because I told her I wasn't driving all the way across town again, at 7:00pm. And three weeks later, no voucher in the mail. Which means no more Applebee's for us. AND!!!!!!!! I don't know if this was a corporate decision, or just a decision made by this sole restaurant. But on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, they turn the place into a karaoke dance club. I got off work one night at 11, this was before the car side incident, and went there thinking me and my wife could have a few drinks and a meal, and some peace and quiet. Well that was soon taken away by the blaring rap music and extremely vulgar lyrics. I don't really think it's appropriate to have people singing about 'smacking bitches' and 'fucking hoes' while someone is trying to eat some soft pretzel sticks. It's very disappointing what this location has become recently. Corporate really needs to take a look at this place and see what's really going on. It's unacceptable. read more

I stayed at the Fairfield Inn next door so thought this was s good idea. So wrong! I ordered onion soup and the whisky steak with red potatoes. The onion soup was lukewarm but somewhat tasty. The steak was ordered medium rare ... It came rare and so tough I could not cut it... At all.! The server apologized and in another 15 minutes I had another steak. This one was more tender in spots but I still left 1/3 of it on my plate as unchewable! The server just looked at me and walked away when I said it was better but still bad! I paid my bill of $24 and walked out. My last trip to this Applebee's! I was expecting average at best and got well below! Management needs to address this! read more

Got there at 6:00 on a Tuesday evening. Ordered drinks and artichoke dip after 10 minute wait with no greeting. Get drinks 5 minutes later (place barely half full) and she takes our order. Two identical steaks, one with a salad the other with soup. 20 minutes later, get the artichoke dip after asking about it, came out stone cold. 30 minutes later I say "hey, it's ok if you bring the salad and soup before the rest of dinner"... 20 minutes later still no soup or salad, but the waitress has plenty of time to be chatting and laughing loudly towards the back of the store. After over an hour waiting on salad and soup, I ask for manager. 5 minutes later, still no manager... This could have been avoided had he been doing his job and checking on guests... After well over an hour (total time) waiting on soup, salad, and a manager finally just say "F it, that's why we NEVER go to Applebee's"... After my loving wife goes to the car, I find the manager and ask about the ticket times... not only did the waitress not get our order in, she put our appetizer on the tables next to us bill. I ask the manager, Gary Copeland, for the number to the local Applebee's district office, he returns with the 888-591-5103 "fu toll free" phone number... then explains to me how the poor service was not his fault as "if she (waitress) didn't put in a ticket how can I know it's late?", well Mr. A-hat, IT'S YOUR STORE. MAYBE IF YOU WERE CHECKING ON GUESTS INSTEAD OF BEING NOWHERE TO BE FOUND FOR OVER AN HOUR YOU WOULD KNOW. Then he argues that we had ordered something different and it was served... no Mr. A-Hat, THAT WAS THE ORDER FOR THE TABLE NEXT TO US. How nice of you to not charge us for the two drinks and the room temperature artichoke dip. Just another worthless Applebee's, which is sad... because I really like their half price apps... but NOTHING will get me back in there for probably another year or two... until I forget how bad they are or think they might have changed. read more

Other than the very friendly greeting we received from the host, there is nothing above average to report about this visit. Our server was not very attentive in that we had to ask for refills each time. The food, while not bad, was definitely not above average. Our onion rings appetizer was very unappetizing. I was expecting more of a "homemade-esque" onion ring but instead they were fried frozen onion rings. It wasn't a horrible experience, but I didn't not feel as if we got our money's worth this time. read more

Worst Applebee's I have ever been to! I order a Bacon cheeseburger to go and get home and has no bacon or anything just the cheese and meat & order my steak medium and it's rare. Managers response was pretty much "oh well". I'm traveling and after 2 days of driving last thing I wanted was to go back and have them redo it after a 20 min wait on a freakn to go order when the place was practically dead . We "accidentally" stopped here on a recent road trip, usually we don't take the time to go to a sit-down restaurant for lunch on the road. I was pleasantly surprised at how we could manage as vegetarians here, they don't have anything specific on their menu that is vegetarian but we ordered various side dishes that together made for a decent lunch. Several of us had the tomato basil soup which was pretty good. That with a large salad (which was pretty average) and onion rings (what can I say) made for an ok lunch on the road and everyone had something read more

I am giving 1 Star because you can't give 0 stars. TERRIBLE!! We visited on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. We waited for an hour and twenty minutes for our food. After inquiring about our food, the manager finally came to our table. She said that she would get the child's food out as soon as possible. The free kids meal came out, but we never received our 2 adult meals. We finally decided to leave since we had an 8 hour drive. I left a kind note and $2.00 on the table hoping that someone would contact me regarding our experience. I am still waiting for someone to contact me. I am HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN APPLEBEE'S and this location. Terrible customer service all around. Don't waste your time or money here. There are many other options nearby. read more

I can't believe I'm saying this but they ran out of meat. How is this a functioning establishment? Zero stars.

I took my family of 6 out for dinner to this restaurant. 25mins of waiting and finally got asked what drinks we would like. I had to ask the bartender for refills for drinks. We ordered our food and drinks at 6:15pm. By 6:45pm their food came out. Half the food had been cooked in old grease and looked terrible. Half their food was cold. My husband was "waiting" on fries. I didn't receive my food and was not told when it would be out. By 7pm my family was almost done with their meals. The waitress brings out my food and husband's fries. I explained that I didn't want the meal because my family was done eating. Another waitress Candy was standing near and started to get rude in the conversation. Candy stated that they were short staffed and it wasn't the girls fault. I explained I understand that it isn't her fault but I don't want to pay for food I didn't get to eat with my family. Candy then started getting very rude and argumentative. She walked away and got over by different customers and turned around stating " I know you weren't talking to me". I then said " yes, yes I was. You shouldn't be so rude". Candy then advanced towards me in an aggressive manner. I being the person I am was in full mama bear protective mode. I was waiting for her to step up to me as I was still sitting with my family. The manager came I explained the food and I just wanted my meal off my bill. I would NOT recommend this restaurant. This use to be our go to place. It is sad! Also the manager himself said they were not short staffed just had new people. I will definitely be in contact with corporate office because Candy needs to be educated on how to deal with customers. Even though it was a horrible experience I still left a $10 tip. read more

our family went to Applebees for Fathers Day. we waited 15 minutes to be seated and there were plenty of seating available. after ordering, we waited 30 minutes for appetizers and then another 30 minutes for our food. in the end, only 2 of the 4 of us got to eat. two of our orders were incorrect. the waitress was very friendly and apologized but the management was not exactly friendly. the manager took my entire plate and then only brought back my steak once it was cooked. not sure if it was correct or not because we ended up leaving. read more

I had a wonderful time at Applebees, place was crowded but the services quick and very friendly waiters. I had to riblet platter and my wife had a steak medium rare. Both of our food was done perfectly and promptly. One of the best things about Applebees is the friendly atmosphere. Even though they have a bar and it's prominently displayed it's a family place you can take your family there and feel very comfortable. We will definitely eat there again read more

Applebees is almost always packed in MV despite several newer establishments around the area. The service is always great though. The people are friendly and the locals are usually cool. The drink prices are a little costly, at least the last time I went. It was $4 for a pint of domestic beer, which is not cool. The parking lot is a little difficult to navigate through as well. read more

this restaurant is unacceptable my friend took her insulin and the waitress did not bring out our food took 30 minutes to get mayo for the already cold hamburger she said that the mayo was in the back and yet never brought it out to the point that we needed to remind her. Was somewhat disappointed by the look of the salmon - the portion was small and the garnishing veggie looked not very enticing either. Next door to my hotel so I gave it a try. My wait person was really nice and attentive. Food was ok but it took way too long to come out. Place was less than half full. New appetizer, cheeseburger egg rolls, was very good. Wings were good, tender but a bit too much breading for my tastes. The hostess had a snippy attitude, almost as if she was granting me a huge favor to be seated. Noticed and heard same when she sat others. Went here for my daughters birthday. Fully regret bringing her here. It was slow yet took forever to get drinks, menus, order and get our food, even though we were like the 3rd or 4th table in there. Food was AWFUL, it was just nasty and cold. The servers were too busy talking and the cooks were so loud you could hear everything in the dining area. I used to work at an applebees and if we acted this way then we would have been in the office being written up. The only reason we came to an applebees was to have my daughter sang to, told our server 3 times and there was no singing. Even though there were plenty of servers there just standing around. I would not recommend this horrible place. I really should have called and complained because this restaurant needs some MAJOR work. Servers need to be trained again and the place needs cleaned thoroughly and the cooks need to quiet down. They were saying some inappropriate things loud enough for my nine year to hear. I hate to complain and I'm glad these people enjoy their job but they need to remember that we are the reason they even have jobs and take much better care of their customers or how I was trained to think, we arent customers but guests. read more

Food was just average. Burger tasted like one you would buy at the grocery store and cook it at home. The Four Cheese Mac 'N Cheese Honey Pepper Chicken Tenders was good, but the pasta was very plain and nothing special. Our service was poor. We were never asked for a refill. Our entrees took too long and dessert almost took as long to receive as the entrees. We had to wave down our waitress to ask for a refill while her and other staff were just gathered to talk around the bar. read more
