I called three appliance repair businesses today to get my fridge fixed, and it was like night and day talking with Appliance Express compared to the other places. I was hoping to get my fridge fixed ASAP, so I wouldn't have to deal with food spoiling and the other two places I called led me to believe that they had a technician available that day. However, at the end of the call after taking all of my information, they said they didn't have a technician available for a couple of days at the earliest. Appliance Express was the complete opposite, the person who answered the phone was very helpful and let me know right away that a technician could be available that day. He then went above and beyond and provided an initial diagnosis over the phone to ensure he had the proper parts in stock. While checking on the parts he helped me trouble shoot some common problems, and long behold, my fridge started working. He let me know what he thought might be what caused the shut-down and what to watch out for in the future in case a part needed to be replaced. Our fridge stopped being cold at noon on a Friday before a 3-day weekend. After calling around to a couple recommendations from friends I came across Appliance Express on Yelp. I called Jim at 2:30pm. He called me back right away, said he was in the neighborhood and could be right there. 6pm we had a fridge working like a champ again. Jim was upfront about the cost right away and stayed until he was sure it was correct...on a Friday evening of a 3-day weekend. Can't recommend him highly enough. Refrigerators have one function: to make things cold. After ten years ours failed. Jim showed up on time (maybe a bit early :)). Jim replaced the relay and boom! it makes cold again. Best part: it only cost a couple of benjies; way at the low end of what we were braced for. read more

This is a locally owned and run business. Jim is friendly, knowledgeable, obviously loves what he does and loves keeping older appliances in working order. My freezer fan had burnt out and the fridge compartment was staying at about 61 degrees; in the meantime the freezer was ice-bound. We called Appliance Express and Jim answered the phone himself and came out the next day. He was honest, gave an accurate estimate, worked neatly and efficiently, took everything out and put everything back in the freezer when he was done. There was a glitch with the replacement fan so he came out again the next day and replaced the replacement, no charge. The fridge is working beautifully now. He said I should get another 10 years out of it -- hope so. If there's another problem down the line, I'll call him again. Highly recommended. read more

Very poor follow up and customer service. Put in a work order on a Thursday morning and Jim said he could get there that afternoon...GREAT! Then we heard nothing from him. He apparently called one of the phone numbers we gave him but didn't bother to call the phone number of the actual person he talked to when he took the order. When i followed up at Noon the next day, he was very short, rude and basically said it was too much trouble for him to use a keybox and find a laundry room at a very small 4-plex. He said he's done for the day and I can call around to someone else if I wanted to. ZERO effort put in other than going to the property. Pretty much gave up right away. I look for a lot more in my appliance service companies...Very disappointing! read more

I cannot begin to explain how pleased I am with the service from this small business. From phone call to out my door was less than 90 minutes on a Friday afternoon. I knew what I needed done on the dryer and he brought a kit to repair the issue. He vacuumed out the dryer and even scrubbed the lint trap. Our stand alone dryer stopped working for no apparent reason; I called at 10:30am on a Wednesday to get it checked and got an appointment for some time between 11am and 1pm on the same day! By 12:30 in addition to fixing the dryer he had checked the washer, replaced an inexpensive part that was impacting its correct spinning, replaced the dryers hose (which was old and incorrectly positioned, leading to overheating) and spent a great deal of time ensuring both machines were perfectly leveled. All this while being extremely nice, charging at a very reasonable rate, always asking/commenting/discussing the issues and without being pushy at all about anything. I'll definitely call him again if I have problems with any other appliances. read more
