Gundel…read moreand Dave offered the best imaginable service to me: They were extremely helpful, friendly and pleasant hosts while never being obstrusive or lax with refilling the tea-making set, cleaning my room or asking for breakfast details. The single room I had was bigger than I expected and in extent, better and nicer equipped. At the third day, I thought about writing this review and began looking for mistakes or room for improvement - and when my USB-internet paid its debt to nature and I asked for internet cafés, they set up a router and WiFi. A word about the building: It is just beautiful and in a great location in a small street that ends with the gates to a very nice park. I visited Paignton to take english lessons in a school that turned out to be round the corner. I prolongued my stay for another week because I found the lessons very helpful - and I had the perfect accommodation to very reasonable week rates. Whenever I go back to Paignton or make a tour through Devon, I will definetely stay at The Clydesdale's again.

Once you venture into this place you will fall in love, it is a clean, warm, well cared for, and homely too.The quality of finish is superb, the rooms are compact but never cramped. The beds are very comfortable and the ensuites are very well equipped. There is freeview flat screen tv in every room. The breakfast is of superior quality and you can have what you want! This wonderful Hotel/B&B is in a perfect location it overlooks the beautiful little harbour with commanding views of the entire Torbay. When we return to Brixham, we will be using this place again. We are choosy people and do not settle for second best. Harbour View, Steve, Stuart, thanks, you are a perfect combination.

I think by North American standards this…read morewould qualify more as a bed & breakfast or at least in my eyes anyway but either way, it's a really lovely spot. We were in room number 1 that overlooked the parking lot. The room itself is small yet equipped with a double bed, night tables, wardrobe, desk and chair. There's not a lot of room to move around... especially in the bathroom. I should note, there's no lift so if you've got a bit of luggage, consider staying on the first floor (which is only two flights of stairs). I will say, I was surprised by the breakfast which was included with our room. I expected a continental breakfast, which there was (and a quite extensive one at that) but it also included a full hot breakfast too. So while we ordered our Full English we were invited to help ourselves to the buffet. The selection was fresh and with such a wide variety, there was definitely something for everyone. I'm only knocking it down half a star because, even through I did book a compact room, it was way smaller than I had anticipated, however, the room was clean and the dining room, sunroom and pool area absolutely beautiful. I would definitely stay here again... just in a bigger room. :) 4.5 stars.
