The Northside Pets Superstore is a great place to grab a whole lot of different items needed for…read moreyour pets, with highly trained staff included vet nurses and breeders of different species. I always venture into pet stores to sneak a peak at the adorable puppies and cute kittens that they have in stock, wishing that I could take them all home. What I was not expecting when I walked into the Northisde Pet Superstore in Hillcrest, was a variety of snakes and lizzards to impress me. Which it did. There were some amazing creatures in that store. A cute little baby childrens python even tried to attack me, and smacked its face on the glass - highly entertaining. A pet store with a different sort of livestock than your average domestic pets is definitely something worth 4 stars, especially when I got the impression that the staff were more than happy to talk to you about any questions you had.

I asked a staff member what they were, she told me algae eaters - I took a chance on them, as they looked really interesting, and I knew I could find homes for them even if they weren't compatible with my fish, and took two of the 'algae eaters' home. Turned out they were a variety of Hemoloptera - lovely fish that don't grow too big, and sell for about ten times the price of an algae eater - and when I went back for the other three the next day they even gave me a discount on them... *bonus* :) That aside, I see a good stock of the regular fish. There's often a special on something, tetras, goldies or guppies, which probably reflects a discount they've gotten from the suppliers, but it never hurts to get a good bargain. Overall the store looks good - I don't pay a lot of attention to the rest of the livestock, unless the kids are with me, but they have a good range of animals and products.

Either way, I have always enjoyed walking through pet shops and checking out all of the animals. Paws for Pets at Marden is small, but an enjoyable visit none the less. There really isn't anything super special about this pet store, other than it stocks most things you would need for your more common pets. They have a good range of pet 'accomodation' and some scratching posts for the kitties. I have tried them with my cats from time to time over the years, but I think they are snobs because they seem to prefer micro fibre suede or leather between their claws rather than tightly wound rope......bloody stuck up cats!

I decided he was a rapper, and described his 99 problems. My daughter took a different approach and discussed tea parties with him as if he was Princess Kate. It was a sad day when 'Kid Cudi' was purchased. I hope his owners are taking good care of him. This pet store always has cute puppies or kittens to fawn over when I'm grabbing some cat food, and they have a loyalty card program so my tenth bag of cat nosh is free. The man who runs it is friendly and helpful and always has good advice when you have a random help my pet question. We miss you still, Cudi. Good luck in all that you do.
