I always come here to this business, they treat me so well. I just read some comments that were done recently and I cannot fathom them calling people names. They have been in business for over 35 years same family owned business. They have always done great work consistent and wherever they can save me money they do. I recently went to the Nissan Dealer for routine service. I was told I have a Rack and Pinion leak. cost was over $3k... When I went to get a second opinion here at Arapaho Automotive I was told it was an Electric Rack and Pinion. There was no oil to leak and had NO issues. They called me "donkey." I took my car there for an oil change and was told there was a small leak from the drain plug. They said they temporarily stopped it but that I would need to replace the oil pan at my next oil change, and they charged me $240 plus the oil change. I got the exact same job done elsewhere for $120 total. Later, the same guy told me I didn't need to replace the oil pan, that he had already fixed it for me, and then called me a "donkey" to my face. If that's true, then why did you give me a quote and charge me for it? The prices are ridiculous, the staff is rude, and the bald manager is extremely disrespectful. I came here 3 weeks ago to fix a leaky fuel injector and had to return a few hours later while they waited for the part. They called when the part arrived and I came back for the repair which was done while I waited. I paid the bill but when I started to leave I found my car was misfiring so I brought it back and explained the problem. They took it into the shop for a few minutes and brought it back saying all they did was replace the injector and if anything was wrong with the job the check engine lite would be on so it must need a tuneup and they refused to honor the warranty. The next day I took it to another shop who verified the misfire and found that the injector that was replaced by AS&L was bad. This shop replaced it and the misfire was fixed. We called AS&L about the fix and they said to bring back the injector they installed and they would contact the parts shop about a refund for my parts&labor according to warranty. I took their part back but they claimed it was used and not the one they installed !! read more

Regarding the business' reply to my original review - the American version of the BMW E36 engine, which was the engine used for the Z3, have two OMD connectors. According to the Bavarian Technic Wiki: "All BMW models up to 07/2000 use a round diagnostic connector under the hood. These round diagnostic connector have 20 pin positions and have a screw on cover. On North America market vehicles from 1996 also have a standard OBD2 connector located in the cabin. When a vehicle has both types of connectors the round diagnostic connector must be used. Some models used the round diagnostic connector until the end of production. They pulled out the Stop/horn fuse...which caused the brake lights not to function, the transmission not to shift out of park, and the horn not to work . They rip people off. I used them for oil changes with no issues. However, when I had a bigger issue with my vehicle I got a quote from them which seemed very high to me. They quoted me $60 for parts and $640 for labor. I checked around to a few more places and received quotes of $240 and $260 for labor. Had I not checked around, I would have paid almost three times as much. They have definitely lost my business as a result. read more

I would be an idiot to come back to this shop! YELPERS, DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. I'm very lazy to write review, but OMG, I'm so angry, I need to vent. I came to their shop, asking them to fix the weird noise that came from the engine in the front hood of my car. They said I should replace the "alternator" (not sure of spelling), so I took their advice and agreed to paid $380 for it (labor + part). I went to work afterward and sent my dad to pick up my car later in the evening. My dad is somewhat deaf, so when he paid them and picked up the car he was not able to notice that the weird noise was not gone. On the next day, when I started my car to drive to work, I heard the same loud noise coming from the front hood again, so I had to leave it at home and borrow my dad's car to drive to work. I brought my car back the next day to them to complain, and they said it's my timing belt that needed to be fixed now. I asked them how come they fixed the alternator if the noise was caused by the timing belt. They told me that alternator was fixed and part of the noise was from the timing belt too. Feeling suspicious, I asked them to hand me my original, old alternator so I can check with another car mechanic to make sure that it's really broken and necessary to be replaced. They would not give my old alternator back and told me I must give $48 in order to have it back. Exasperated and tired, I gave up and paid that amount for it so I could have it to check with someone else. Yes, it turned out to be the timing belt. I asked this other place to install my old alternator back to see if it would work or cause the noise. It worked and did NOT cause any noise. I kept using my old, original alternator in my car, and RETURNED Arapaho S & L's alternator back to them and asked for a refund the next day. They did not believe me that I'm still using my old alternator without noise or any problem even though I was willing to open my car and show it to them. After arguing back and forth, they paid me back PARTIAL of what I paid them, even though they misdiagnosed the issue and did not fix anything in the 1st place. I was mad so I told one of their customers standing there that Arapaho S & L was scamming me. Seeing that, they threatened to call the police and I told them to go ahead. I was very disappointed that they never did. I don't have hard feelings against the mechanic who misdiagnosed my car. He didn't have good skills, but at least he had good manners, unlike his manager. At one point in the argument, the manager even shoved his face into mine and dared me to hit him (what the heck?). I was mad but I would not use violence to resolve a dispute. And how ironic. I'm 5'1'' and skinny while the manager was a 6' and big. And dear sir, Mr. Manager, it was redundant of you to ask me not to come back to your shop. If you keep doing business like this, there won't be a shop, if I'm that stupid to come back again. read more

I went in for a $7.00 inspection. The guy at the front "Ado" tried to charge me $25. Even the mechanics who did the inspection crossed out the $25 that Ado wrote on the invoice, and wrote $7. Ado still rung me up for $25. When I pointed to the invoice and told him it should be $7 not $25, Ado gave me a blank stare. There was another guy working at the front desk who stepped in and adjusted my charge. No apologies from either guy. The whole thing seemed shifty. read more

Best deals on oil changes and they have honest reasonable service if you have bigger issues as well, there are mixed reviews here but I can assure you these guys are top notch. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP!!! I would give them zero stars if I could. I took my Honda there because I had water in my tail light, shorting out the bulb. The tech said they would drain the water, dry out the housing, seal the hairline crack on the inside of the housing, and change the bulb. Great. Go for it. Except they didn't do most of what I paid for. They drained the housing but didn't dry it out, and I don't think they sealed the housing very well, because I took it to the car wash and it again had water in the tail light when finished. So I took it back the next morning to complain. Was told, "We can't get ALL the moisture out," like I was a moron for expecting them to do so. Except that IS what they had promised me. After some arguing, I got my check back, and if that was the end of the story, I wouldn't be posting here. What then happened shows what kind of a shop they really are. While the tech was "examining" the tail light to verify my complaint of shoddy workmanship, he vandalized my car! He broke off the flanges that hold the light bulb in the housing, and also stole the cover and bulbs to my hatch light! Those flanges are pretty butch. He had to have gotten a pair of plyers to break them off, so there is no way the damage was not deliberate, not to mention that the cover and bulbs didn't "magically" fall out of the car while the hatch was open! He must have done it while I was inside, arguing with his boss over my refund. It was petty revenge for complaining about the work done. And easily enough fixed. But really, what kind of person even thinks of doing something like that? Not someone i want working on my car, that's for sure! My god, what if I'd gotten a shoddy brake job? Would his revenge have been to cut my brake line? read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. I have used this place a few times for oil changes and didn't have any issues, but the last time I used them they left a large tool in my engine compartment, slammed the hood shut on it, knocked my hood out of alignment, and my alarm system wouldn't arm because it thought the hood was up. I noticed this problem immediately after the work was performed and brought the car back to them. They denied any wrongdoing and swore up and down that there was no possible way anything they did could have caused that problem. I beg to differ, and I have the very large tool they left in my engine compartment as proof. Luckily I was able to get the issue fixed (for free!) by a competent mechanic, but I certainly would have pursued a small claims lawsuit against this business if I had been out of pocket for the repair. Wow I was having the worst day of my life and just got out of class. I had 30 minutes Togo straight to work then my car started leaking gas. I dropped a half tank if gas in 3 miles. I coasted into this shop and they had 3 workers immediately come to my rescue. They had to order the part and have it delivered which took all of 10 minutes then he fixed it in 5 minutes. I called work to tell them I would be late before I came to the shop. I made it to work on time. Thank you Arapaho sticker. Ugh UT gets better they did it for such a great deal. I will tell everyone to come here and I will be a life long customer to this place. They have my loyalty and they always stay busy. So I know I'm not the only one. read more

The guy name Glen has gotten my oil changed really quick and top off all the fluids and better yet he aired the tires something I didn't even pay attention too. They are one of very few inspection stations that have the equipment to do an inspection of a car this age and they clearly don't feel that they need to have any kind of customer service read more

I was having problem with my transmission fluid draining out slowly. I couldn't afford to fix the problem so I asked if they could just fill it. He did me one better. He filled it and identified the leak. A week later when I could afford the repair I returned and they fixed the problem. The quote they gave me was actually higher than the final cost. I used these guys for about 8 years to change the oil on my Audi after it was out of warranty. After a while it got expensive. Last time it was $60 for an oil change even though I brought my own oil and filter! This year I decided to change the oil myself. The drain plug was way over tightened, and the oil filter I had to nearly destroy to remove. They had torqued it down to the metal and nearly stripped the threads. On top of that, the plastic engine cover has 8 bolts holding it on, and they decided some time in the last 8 years to throw away the Torx bolts. Too much work, I guess. read more

Do yourself a favor and pass by this place. They'll go though your vehicle try to blackmail you into buying something to pass inspection. I will not ever set foot in this place again. They said they would have to fail my vehicles inspection because the wiper blades streaked. Everything else was fine. The blades weren't anywhere needing to be changed. CROOKS! My dad went to this shop for an oil change and they told him the oil had completely run out, which is impossible because he had just checked it. We concluded that they must have drained the oil. Rest assured, he bolted before they could 'do anything else. read more
