Of the recreation centers that I've visited so far in DC, this fitness center is the most updated and well-kept. The crowd is pretty steady regardless of the time of day (I've been at different hours of the day and days of the week between 6:30AM-7:30PM) but I've never been able to not use equipment during my 45-60 minutes workouts. Note that the fitness center closes 30 minutes before the posted hours (I.e. if the rec center closes at 8PM, the fitness center closes at 7:30PM). Not pictured are also more weight machines, a dumbbell rack with weights 5-100lbs and kettlebells. Aside from the fitness center, there's also the athletic field, playground, rooftop garden, outdoor basketball/tennis courts, and a gymnasium. From what I've seen, events at this rec center are more-so geared towards folks under 18 and 55+.

On the outside, there's a massive field, a track, playground, a garden and basketball courts. Pre-pandemic, the inside has a gym, classrooms, etc. 2) Views: There's an area with benches with beautiful views of nearby Trinity Washington University. This recreation is new and super nice. It's worth a visit!

Only one of the men's showers works and has a soap dispenser. The middle one has been broken as long as I have been going there, with a big HOLE in the wall covered with see-through plastic where you can see the (nonfunctional) pipes. The third is missing its handle and its soap dispenser and they can't even put even hooks on the shower curtain. And now the swimsuit spinner is simply MISSING from the wall, with connections still hanging out where it used to. DC LOVES to built NEW facilities but apparently has zero interest in maintaining the ones it already has. I note that users are "required" to use the shower before getting in the pool. Good luck with that. Is the women's locker room this crappy or is just the men's locker room nobody cares about?

What a renovation! Just to the west of Fort Dupont Park, this recreation center is large and…read morebeautifully designed. There's a small parking lot in the front surrounded by a fence. Inside the property is a new playground, trails, a field, exercise equipment, and public mosaic art. Inside is a pool for people who need it for therapy, a large gym court, meeting rooms, restrooms, and more. The design is stunning and plays well with the natural landscape in this part of Ward 7.

I think mid 20's which was ok for a littke while. After about an hour into it my ears and fongers were starting to feel numb. The indoor recreation center had not opened yet and I think that would have been better fun for everyone. They do a great job in terms of the maintenace andnthere was also no trash around like what younwoukd see at some other parks in the city. Plus this park and rec center was ckose to where we were at. What is open is the playground and it's spacious leaving room for families to safe distance. Still, masks are required. Near the tennis courts (yes, the courts are open too) are a few D.C. statehood murals part of the mayor's campaign to make D.C. the 51st state. There's a rainbow-colored mural, a rose mural (D.C.'s flower) and a few others by local artists.

Here's what you can find within the community center: 1) Playground: There's a large playground that's D.C. landmark-themed. There's the Washington Monument, Air & Space Museum, the White House, Hirshhorn, etc. with fact cards next to each one teaching kids (and their parents) about our city. The playground comes with a sheltered picnic area to escape the sun. It's a little run down and often there's litter scattered throughout the playground. Despite that, it's a fun place for kids. 2) Library: There's a library within the community center. 3) Courts/fields: There are basketball courts that are often in use in the evenings and a large field for workouts, soccer, etc. 4) Pool: From Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, the outdoor pool is open with a small waterslide. Sadly, during the 2020 season, the pool closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you get hungry, there are a few restaurants north along Benning Road NE, including a walk-up/drive thu Chick-fil-A three blocks west.
