Pilgrim Faith does a lot of great things in the community (food pantry, homeless shelter), really living out the idea of serving others. It also accepts everyone. It is radically welcoming, not demanding your personal life be of a certain flavor or that you live a holier-than-thou existence. I highly recommend for anyone, especially for those who have soured on organized religion, but haven't completely soured on the Christian faith. It's a friendly place for you -- and your family -- to take a faith journey.

In the past 20 years I've been to church twice and that was because this church is the real deal and Father Stan is a man amongst men and a priest that I would be proud to call mine. My child made her first confession and first communion within the past week. The way father Stan talks to this congregation and makes eye contact with his parishioners is so very much modern and not like the old timers where it's all Jesus and Mary this and Moses and Noah that. Today he pulled out a toy gas station and used analogies in which I instantly fell in love with. I would love to be an everyday catholic again and attend church again every Sunday as long as this guy is at the helm but alas I work sundays and I work extremely long hours but I promise to try and attend at least couple times a year

This is a lovely Catholic church in Burbank, IL. It was built in a day when each denomination built…read moretheir own place for worshiping...the first thing immigrants usually did was form their own parish community. Thus you would have a Polish church just down the street from an Irish faith community. While the nationalities have blurred a bit, this is still a wonderful church. This parish community was started in 1949, with this church building going up in the 1960s. The community now is primarily Polish and Hispanic. We were here for a Friday fish fry which is held in the huge basement cafeteria and meeting hall. Since the parish community also has a couple of schools (a regular grade school and a Polish grade school), there are a lot of youngsters to feed each day and they use this space. We usually go fish fry spelunking in Lent, and this fish fry was the best one we have ever been to. If you visit you'll see the fish being soaked in milk, hand-breaded, and fried just before it hits your plate. Generous portions, good sides, a great baked potato, an inexpensive bar for those that imbibe, and many volunteers working the fry so all is clean and ready. Wonderful 5-star fish fry, and one they hold every Friday during Lent except Good Friday. Regarding the church, it was a beautiful space as seen in the attached pictures. The serenity and beauty of the facility is really warm and welcoming. This is a pie-shaped church...with rows of pews all curved in a semi-circle and facing the altar. Beautiful church furnishings...from the statues to the altar. Give this place a try one day when you seek some comfort and support.

An…read moreAfrican American Family moved into the neighborhood about a year ago and have already put their house up for sale, why because a deacon of the church and her family has harrassed them both verbally and physically that they are forced to put their house up for sale. When the family being pushed out went to the church for help, letting them know that their deacon is swearing and throwing things are their young daughter, the church said to leave and they want to take no responsibility in their safety. This church is only about money and does not care for their community. Shame on them and may God see what they are doing.

I have been to church food festivals/carnivals before and this by far impressed me. Everything, including the desserts were all homemade (I'm still in shock). The servers, everyone, spoke Greek and they all looked so happy and having a great time. Let's see, they had the typical shish-kabob, gyros, Grecian chicken, and Greek salad. Aside from that, they had: Saganki (flaming cheese), Tiropites (Cheese pie), spanakopita (spinach pie), and Pastichio (Greek lasagna). Desserts- baklava, diples, galaktobouriko, kourambiedes, loukoumades, or a variety plate. Of course they had Greek wine and liquor, Greek coffee, and a lot more. As typical in a carnival, there was music, dancing, merchants selling jewelery and other accessories, raffles, rides, etc. $2 per adult; 12 and under free; food can be purchased with credit card. Tomorrow they are open from 3pm-10pm. I'm so glad I can get Greek food without having to go to the city. Though I think I need to make a friend out of a Greek grandmother so I can be spoiled with some more home cooking!
