The seafood at Archie's Lobster in Bass Harbor is delicious and comes out fast. I had steamers one time, that were very clean. The other two times I had a lobster roll! Both were so full of meat that I used a fork first! One friend had the quesadillas that were great and another had a crabmeat roll that was also full of crabmeat! There are no negatives.... great service, smiling and friendly staff, delicious food and wonderful atmosphere, on the "quietside" of MDI. 10 stars out of 10! I went here because of a Reddit post saying that this is where locals eat lobster around Bar Harbor. I was not disappointed. This place was everything I hoped for when I visited Maine: simple, perfectly cooked lobster on a roll with a light coat of butter. Husband and I stumbled across the Maine gem and it was fate at work! This goes down as literally the best meal I have had jn my life. No joke. I am not sure where the fault lies, so I am giving a one start to both Yelp and Archie's. We visited Maine this last weekend and decided to drive from Bar Harbor to Archie's based on the reviews AND that Yelp showed it was open. We drove the the 20+ minutes only to find out they are closed temporarily. I am fine with it being closed for the season, but someone needs to be sure the data on Yelp is kept current so time isn't wasted on a drive for a place that is closed. If I could give this place 0.5 stars or 0 stars, I would. We came at 615pm on a Friday . We patiently waited in line for close to 40 mins. When we were about to order around 655pm - that was the only time we were told they were out of everything except cold crab rolls. Nothing hot to eat that had seafood in it. I think they owe customers better communication than this. I don't care how wonderful your food is. You can't expect to have people wait in line for 40 mins and not communicate that you're running out of food. All they said was "sorry." I don't think sorry is enough to say to people who patiently waited in line for 40 mins, expecting a good hot seafood dinner. All we were told is that they just have cold crab rolls and that was it. Such poor communication and bad customer service. I would expect that they would know that they are running low on food, and there's still a long line and maybe tell people that so they can have the choice to leave and go somewhere else. Most places close at 7pm in that area. Thanks to such poor communication, we were there hungry and with no food options at 655pm. If they had just stated at 640 that there's still a long line, they're running out of food, we may not get served, we may have had the option to go somewhere else for a good seafood dinner. No one expects to be turned away 40 mins after waiting patiently in line and have the option of only a cold sandwich. read more

Archie's is a food truck located on the waterfront in Bass Harbor. There are picnic tables and umbrellas spaced out in the large parking area, which is very quiet as it is set back from the road. The view across the water is beautiful and peaceful. The lobster here is amazing, fresh and sweet. We had generously filled lobster rolls and lobster dinners. One time we ate at the picnic tables and another time we brought everything back to the house. Everything was well packed and the service was friendly and efficient. I think that this is their first summer, and we hope to see them again next year! read more

My partner and I spent the weekend camping on MDI and were craving some hot soup after a long day of hiking. We had stopped at two other local seafood shacks but they either did not have the soup we were looking for or were too busy. We stumbled upon Archie's as we were headed down the road and decided to check it out! Upon parking, the setup for the restaurant was rather unassuming. When we walked around to the front of the food truck, we were greeted by friendly employees and good music playing from the stereo. At the window, we ordered a bowl of clam chowder, bowl of lobster bisque, and two orders of fries. The whole order was under $25. We went and found a picnic table to sit at and watched the wildlife on the water while we waited for our food. The outdoor seating area is really nicely decorated and even has cornhole boards that you can play. About 10 minutes later, our order was brought out to our table and we were ready to enjoy! The fries were freshly cooked and the soups were both hot. I appreciated that all of the fixings (oyster crackers, ketchup, napkins, utensils, salt/pepper, etc.) were delivered to our table and that we did not have to go back up to ask for anything. The soups were TO DIE FOR!!! Honestly the best lobster bisque I have ever had. Our bellies were so full and happy after eating here. Great vibes and even better views! Don't miss this awesome family-operated spot! The food was amazing! This is a great place for families with young children! I'm always looking for places to eat with activities to entertain our kids (4 and 6 yo) and Archie's was perfect! They had fun games set up (corn hole, jumbo connect four, side walk chalk and a see saw row boat) and space for kids to run around. We had the haddock tenders, lobster bisque and lobster quesadilla and ever bite was so delicious! I have never had fish and chips that were so spot on! They also have a nice kids menu. Our kids had jumbo hotdogs with chips. Another perk for us is that it is BYOB. So you can bring drinks of your choice and save money on the bill. The owner was there and always moving making sure every patrons experience was top notch. He was clearing trays, cleaning up and making sure everyone was happy with their food.
