I found Ardian through my brother's recommendation and what a gem he is. I came to him to because I needed a bridesmaid's dress altered for my best friend's wedding and after getting the dress back I can tell you two things for sure. He is literally the nicest tailor (or person really) and his workmanship is impeccable. It took him about 2 and a half weeks and 2 phone calls on my part to have the dress ready but I would willingly wait longer if I had to. I will definitely go to him again when I have an important garment that needs an expert touch. Highly recommend. read more

I brought a chiffon dress with boning to Ardian. I was planning on wearing to my brother's wedding. After almost 2 months at his shop the dress was not only not done, but the stitching looked like a kindergardener did it. With only 4 days til the wedding (a date he knew from day 1) I was left with a dress that was unwearable.... I was really upset. Ardian didn't do anything he said he would to the dress. And the worst part was, every time he told me to come in to pick up the dress, it wasn't ready. After the first date he gave me, when it wasn't ready, I would call right before I left work to come in to his shop. But he was lying to me on the phone telling me it was in fact ready when it wasn't, I don't know why... I'm not a difficult customer. I'm a creative type and I understand that crafts take their time. I gave him two months to take the dress in and shorten the length. Because of all of this run around, I literally spent almost $200 in cabs going back and forth during my lunch hour. And to top it all off, he didn't apologize and wouldn't let me walk out with the busted dress until I paid him in full for work he did NOT do! Luckily Orchard Tailor was able to save the day. There, thank gawd, Anna completely redid the dress and had it ready in time for me. It seems like most of what Ardian does is menswear. So, I'd say, if you're a lady, this is NOT the tailor for you. read more

Ardian did a good job on some pants I needed hemmed and was reasonable in cost. I can't say I taxed his abilities with my job, but he made them right. After reading some other reviews, I was not expecting them fast, so I can't say whether they were done on time... I waited longer than he told me so as not to be disappointed, but when I called for them, he had them and remembered me, despite the small job and week or more since the order. I have to write a review for Ardian since I found this gem of a man in a tiny, hole-in-the-wall atelier thanks to Yelp. He really is an artiste extraordinaire. He has helped me survive bridesmaid dress alterations (!!), making a dress much to large for me to fit like a glove. I go back to him for any complex work I need to make dresses or pants fit like they were made just for me. Not overly expensive for the type of alterations he does, but worth the investment! Only warning: he is one busy guy so best give yourself a good time window for him to work his magic. I just found my new tailor! I came to him with an emergency hem in a fully sequined dress that I needed with a super fast turnaround. When I got to his place and opened the garment bag I discovered I'd been sent the wrong dress! He saw the meltdown about to begin on my face and he said, "Just breath. It's life." He had me bring the other dress the next day and was calm as a cucumber and turned it around in record time!!! It had to be a temporary hem as the dress was borrowed from a designer and you couldn't tell that dress had a bunch of fabric folded and sewn in on the underside. It looked beautiful and very affordable. It's a breath of fresh air to find someone so skilled at what they do and yet incredibly humble about it. I live near the Bronx and will make the travel to him whenever I have a tailor job to be done. read more

I came to Ardian's Tailor after reading these reviews. And he is really good!! I had him alter a vintage dress and two pairs of jeans which were tricky. I was nervous about the jeans as they are expensive. But everything turned out well. I'm gonna bring him my coat to re-line and probably will re-do some dresses to make them more creative. read more

Ardian is an amazing craftsman and super lovely gentleman. I've taken alterations to him for a while now, and couldn't be happier with his extraordinary level of quality and attention to detail. He recently made a wonderful custom suit (trousers, coat, vest) completely to my specs, using the reference images i brought him--sort of a cross between Edwardian dandy and 1950s teddyboy fop; it fits like a dream, and was the hit of the wedding, at which i officiated. I was thrilled that he enjoyed my choices (gorgeous wool herringbone for the tousers/coat, vintage brocaded sillk taffeta for the vest, plus perfect silks for the linings, wonderful buttons, buckles, etc) as much as i did, and seemed to have a lot of fun making it all--and making it all just right. In fact, his own exquisite taste and sense of proportion made all the difference in elevating what might have been merely a costume (in less skilled hands) into an extremely wearable, perfectly finished, stylish classic which I plan to wear for years and years. We're already planning a series of other garments: a Norfolk jacket of silk tweed, a couple of linen blazers for summer, another period-inspired suit, etc. Ardian knows the difference between fashion and style, and that is worth any amount of scheduling mishaps and other petty annoyances. Just give yourself and him plenty of time, and know that you're dealing with an artist--NOT a factory--and you'll be just fine. My only cavil about recommending him to everyone is that he's already incredibly busy, and I selfishly want as much of his time as I can afford! Yes, it's true: I am a fan. read more

Let's review the timeline: Drop off jeans to be tapered below the knees on the morning of Tuesday, June 26th. Request that it be completed by Saturday morning. Ardian says to stop by Friday morning to check in and remind him. Friday, 6/30 - Go to store, find that it is closed (despite Friday being a business day on his website). Call number listed, Ardian texts back and says he isn't working today. I ask if he will be in the next day and he says he doesn't know. 7/14 - Go to store, find that it is closed. 7/19 - Text Ardian back to check on status of order before I come by again. No response. 7/21 - Go to store, find that it is closed. 8/11 - Go to store, hey it's open! Surely after a month and a half he has completed it. Nope. Decide to just take back my jeans to go find someone who actually wants my business rather than keep dealing with this nonsense. Of course they're excessively wrinkled having sat in the mess that is this place. Take a look at the previous reviews below. This is not an abnormal experience, this is the TYPICAL experience. Ardain is simply the best, I begrudgingly recommend to him to everyone I know as I'd hate for him to get too busy to help me!! In 2007 he rescued me by fixing my wedding suit in just 2 days!! He completely altered the entire suit, I looked and felt like a million dollars. For that alone I am forever grateful. He has done great work for me on every item I have ever taken to him. I will never buy a suit off the shelf again, but will ask him to make it for me. I feel like a million bucks in my clothes that he has altered for me. I really love Ardian. I first went to his hole-in-the-wall shop after finding him on Yelp, and have never been disappointed. He does great work at a great price, is very nice to deal with, and knows how to make you look great in your off-the-rack clothing. As long as you know going into it that Ardian needs ample time to complete your alterations, there is nothing to complain about. Well, I have to chime in. I'm a repeat customer of Ardian's and I've experienced the lateness and poor communication that others have mentioned. More than once I've shown up to discover he hadn't started the piece he was supposed to have finished, and I was frustrated like some of the negative reviewers. BUT I'm also making an appointment with him right now because I know he can do what the tailor at my local dry cleaning shop can't do. Timeliness is nice, but skill is key! read more

Ardian did a great alteration on a pair of slacks. I had been duly warned that he is sometimes late in completing the job and managed my expectations accordingly so that I wasn't too upset when it took 11 days instead 8 days for my alteration to be done. The pants fit very well and I am extremely happy with his work. It is worth waiting longer and sometimes paying a bit more for work as good as this. read more

A similar experience to recent reviewers': brought in two jackets, wasn't in a hurry (having read earlier reviews). Took about 10 visits over two months following "I'll have it ready" to get the first one. The second one wasn't done as promised. Getting it back took another two months, after which it *still wasn't done*, but I was tired of dealing with it any more so I took it anyway. Ardian is a nice man and a good tailor. But the simple fact is that if you do not continually follow-up, and I mean literally STAY ON HIS ASS, he will never finish what you give him. I recommend not taking a lot of things to him at the same time, or you will have a much smaller wardrobe for a long time. Take one or two items to him and then continually follow-up and you MIGHT have your stuff back in a month. read more

After my longtime tailor retired, I looked all over the city, trying a garment here and there and was never satisfied. I lamented this fact to a coworker who enthusiastically recommended Ardian. She warned me not to be put off by his inauspicious shop and, with a couple jackets in tow I set off to see him. I have done all my tailoring with Ardian ever since. He is truly a TAILOR in every sense of the word. The neon sign in your dry cleaner's window may say "tailor " but in New York that usually just means someone is sitting behind a sewing machine. Ardian learned his trade in fine sartorial houses in Europe and the US and his skills reflect that. He can design and construct garments completely by hand and his alterations are not run-a-seam shortcuts, they are reconstruction of the garment as the style and fit dictates. He has custom tailored numerous suits, jackets etc. for me and expertly altered everything from suits and coats to vests and shirts and ties. I stress over sending a Brioni suit out for cleaning but have no hesitation whatsoever about leaving it with Ardian to update. So if you only need your Levi's hemmed, take your chances on anyone, but if you want a true tailor, go see Ardian. And remember, quality work takes time, so be willing to allow accordingly. His prices are fair and he is a very nice gentleman as well. read more

Ardian is truly the best! I found him through a friend of mine who ONLY goes to Ardian for all of his suit and work shirt alterations. I only wish I had gone to him with my wedding dress which was a disaster going elsewhere unfortunately! His studio has a lot of clothes all over but don't let that put you off - his work is amazing and he has never disappointed. I have gotten all of my work shirts taken in and wow does that make a big difference to have something that looks custom fit to you! He truly is talented and a very kind person. He can take a little bit of time though so as long as you don't drop off 10 things at once and expect a 2 week turn around time then you are fine! Ardian is a nice man but if you need a suit tailored don't go to him. His hand is not as good when it comes to the fine craftsmanship that is needed. We brought my fiance's wedding suit there and had to take it somewhere else (Campos and Campos) to be fixed. The suit hem was not done finely and you could see a line where he took up the pants (there was no cuff). He also didn't take the jacket in from the sides... he took it in from the center back and left a lump at the top so it didn't lie flat. He did do a really nice job on the $400.00 dress shirt that we brought to him to take in so perhaps this is more Ardian's specialty. Don't bring your suits here...try him for jeans, shirts etc. read more

I've been putting off this review since last year because Ardian was very pleasant and I liked him on a personal level, especially since his prices were fairly reasonable. So I really didn't want to do this, but my conscience is heavy, as I would have wanted to be warned and nothing on Yelp prepared me for this kind of curve ball. I called 3 times before I went to pick up my stuff, a week before ( I even told him he could have an extension), a few days before and the day of. I was paranoid because of the reviews I had read. When I went to pick up my my clothes, however, they still weren't ready. This is of course completely unprofessional, rude and highly annoying, but if it stopped at that, I would not have dinged him on Yelp. One of the items I left was a brand new Herve Leger bandage dress. One of the seams attaching a bandage strip to to other strips had come undone and it looked like an easy fix. To my horror, I discovered that he butchered that strip and hand sewed it back on. It was uneven and lumpy, and worst of all, right on my butt! When I took it to another tailor, the one that Herve Leger refers their customers to, he said that the person had no need to cut off any material and had done irreparable damage. Alas, a $1000 plus dress ruined. Before I left my dress, I did ask him whether he had worked with Herve dresses before since the bandaging is kind of unique, and he specifically said yes and that it was a lot of work! I wish he had just turned me away. :( read more
