Not all the rooms here are created equal, in the fact the hotel has a significant number of suites which all have their own character. The property is expansive and service is attentive to every detail. The rotonde is where a magnificent seaside breakfast is served each morning. It feels like you're in a history museum and it has to leave. Be sure to book a room with an ocean view- you won't regret it. There are two pools at the property one indoor pool and an outdoor one. Given the sizes of these they rarely feel highly occupied. Love the hallway carpeting with the distinct shade of blue scattered with bumble bees which I think is the same as the guerlain logo.

We both had closets and we could shut the door between the two areas when we needed privacy. We stayed in Room 111 which had a balcony with chairs and a fantastic view of the water and the promenade. The windows were also fantastic. When they were open, we could hear the lively noise of the promenade but when they were closed we couldn't hear a thing. The bathroom was also very nice with a bidet attachment to the toilet. The toilet even had a motion-activated night light. The shower was a little difficult to use without flooding the bathroom. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with lots of pinxtos, fruit, hot food, cold food, and pastries. My friend is a vegetarian and she found plenty to eat. One night we ordered room service and the food arrived within 20 minutes and was very good. The front desk people were also very helpful answering questions we had. The only negative was that we couldn't get the coffee maker in our room to work.

Each dish was seasoned beautifully, had layers of flavor and was plated like a photo in Gourmet. It is obvious that the chef is talented and takes extra care with his craft. Notice the foam in the chicken pic. Absolutely beautiful and delicious. The rhubarb dessert was exceptional. It was on a cake, but not sweet, and the texture more like a cookie. It was topped with crunchy and sweet and sour rhubarb ribbons. I could eat here again and again. What a wonderful surprise this restaurant was!

From the moment we arrived, the concierge team was always available, incredibly responsive, and genuinely warm. Every staff member seemed to know us by name and made us feel completely at home. It's rare to find service this intuitive and consistent. A standout moment came on the first day of our stay, during what turned out to be one of the worst power outages in Spain and Portugal's history. Remarkably, we didn't even notice--the hotel's private backup generator kept everything running smoothly. But when the staff tried to confirm our lunch reservation and taxi, they couldn't get through to any vendors due to the blackout. Without missing a beat, Lucie graciously offered to drive us to the restaurant in her own car. She walked us in, explained the situation to the staff, and didn't leave until we were seated with wine and appetizers. That level of care and thoughtfulness is rare and deeply appreciated. It turned an unexpected hiccup into a memory we'll treasure. We came here for a special occasion--our 40th birthdays and our anniversary--and left feeling like we'd been guests in someone's home. It's clean and the staff is friendly. The drawback, is that the room is very basic and there are basically no amenities - and at a rate of 130ish euros a night. There is no where to really hangout outside of your room. Plan on going elsewhere for breakfast, which is not an issue as there are a couple of hotels a few doors down that are very nice (e.g. the Niza). They provide no complimentary bath products, outside of the hand soap machine attached to the wall in the shower. If you do end up here and are driving, you'll want to purchase parking from the hotel. It's tough to find a public spot and the price they offer is well worth it.
