I had done CrossFit in my late 20's/early 30's then took a break and did other types of exercise (running, hot yoga, traditional gym, Carolyn Gilvan YouTube workout programs)... 10 years and 2 kids later I was starting to feel old and out of shape at 41. I had a ski injury and my PT recommended CrossFit at another local gym. I visited that gym, felt super intimidated and did not join. A few years later a friend invited me to CrossFit X and from day 1 I felt so welcomed. For the first few months I did Cam Hashemi's classes only. He is an awesome coach!! And helped me get through the difficult stage of getting back to it. Now I am feeling stronger, happier, I have more energy, and my home life is improved. Yes, I have lost some weight (7lbs), but mostly I look and feel better. My husband was so inspired, he also joined. And our kids age 3 and 6) sometimes accompany us. The 9am class is my favorite, lots of inspiring moms. I hope you give this gym a try or drop by of a workout when in town.

Finding Patti was a dream come true. She is very present to every different exercise. She changes things up so you get a good rounded workout based on your abilities and your goals. She is very patient and encouraging and she has a kind caring personality. If you want someone who will grind you into the dirt, she might not be the one for you. But if you want someone who really cares and someone who is careful you don't get injured but encourages you to do more than you would on your own, you should give her a try. I've been seeing her for a few weeks now and I am seeing the differences and feeling stronger and better about myself. I hope this was helpful.

Long overdue review…read more Just a quick background about myself. My experience with road riding is as beginner as they get; I knew nothing about cycling, but being in my early 30's I did know that I wanted to put some miles on my recent road bike purchase, and get back into fitness. I found Matt (and Encina bikes) through the power of the internet, and I am glad I did. I was bit wary about spending so much on a bike fit, but I decided to go ahead and do it since I wasn't so comfortable in my bike and I figured I can't put a price tag on my comfort especially since I am looking to put on some more miles. I got a basic fit from the site as I am just a beginner and I thought this was a good place to start. Matt and the guys at Encina are pretty nice; I was a bit intimidated before I came since I am a newb, but they were all pretty nice and that all went away fairly quickly. The bike fit experience was great, and I might even say it was fun. I think it took about an hour and a half, and I learned tons about cycling and certain technical aspects about it. Also, Matt never pushed any products on me, he did make a suggestion that my cranks may be a wee bit off on length, but he said that the excess motion that I am exhibiting might just be due to the fact that I am new at riding and that I should just wait and get more experience under my belt before we do anything else. The saddle was replaced, since the original that came with my back was definitely uncomfortable and the measuring tool for your butt showed that my current saddle was too narrow. I would definitely see Matt again if I purchase another bike. The fit was back in September, I have been very busy with school and work, combined with a sprained ankle in between then to when this review was broken, but I managed to put in about 500 miles in a few weeks. It's very comfortable, and I have no complaints. I highly recommend Matt and any Encina bicycle shop.

The process was extremely detail oriented and Matt was very patient with us as we asked tons of questions. He was very knowledgeable and gave clear explanations regarding the adjustments he made. The 3-D technology even uncovered an issue I didn't know I had. I feel really good about the results and look forward to getting on the road with this setup . Their Downtown Fairhaven studio is GORGEOUS with a nice view of the waterfront. All the instructors are so kind and wonderful. They do a great job of making everyone feel welcome and comfortable for people with different skill levels. Best of all, they give you a cool, lavender towel to relax with at the end of each session. Something I've never gotten anywhere else! This studio has a convenient app to pay for and book classes. They also have a strict no show and late fees. Things to note: Finding the studio for the first time can be a bit tricky as it's inside a building with multiple office spaces. As long as you stay on the first floor of the building, go down all the way down the hall and to the left you should be able to find it.
