Don't judge me but I stopped in here because a coffee shop around the corner was a bit of a cluster. Glad I stumbled upon this gem. There were some old fashioned vibes in here between the lighting, chairs, and decor but there was also a bit of a modern twist. Our bartender was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience enjoyable. We drank our way through an old fashioned, gold rush, and bees knees during happy hour. While I'm an admittedly a bourbon snob, I really enjoyed the gold rush and would 10/10 recommend but I wasn't overly impressed with the old fashioned. The bees knees was also excellent and the experience was one I'd definitely come back for. Worth a stop in for a drink but don't sleep on their pizza- it slaps! read more

This is a great hyper-small business.... with the added value they produce and sell booze. I'm happy this place is finally up and running - I lived nearby and it sat vacant the entire year I lived on that side of Tempe. One of my friends let us know about their daily/weekly tours offered that are done by one of the 2 owners who has literally put his sweat n tears into this business. It's $10 for ~60-90 minutes of the E! True Hollywood story behind AZ Distilling plus some tastings after (if you're so inclined). Because they're very much an upstart, it's not a fancy tour. You go to the back of the building and one of the owners explains the general distilling process and what makes their process unique, as well as some local history tied in. They'll also answer just about any question you have about booze. It was most interesting to learn about people of who distill in Arizona have to be careful about the process because of the heat/angel's share. The Commerce Gin is what shines out of all of their alcohols IMO as it pays tribute to the 5 C's of Arizona and has a distinct taste by itself. I'd recommend getting it over ice or just neat. The vodka won me over too since it doesn't have that bite that most vodkas have when you first drink it. Can't wait to see them grow and gain more success than what they've already achieved! read more

At this point, I have toured 4 different distilleries in Arizona and so far AZ Distilling has been the best experience! Jason, the Master Distiller took us on a tour and shared a level of knowledge and history unmatched by other locals. His passion is evident in the products he produces. I found his Rye to be well balanced with a nice spice that finished smooth and not overly sweet. The Gin was a nice suprise. Without being juniper forward, it offers a nice citrus for balance and is soflt on the palet. Makes you wonder why anyone would drink some of the more familiar brands. The tour is well worth the money and I imagine I'll be back for more! read more

This place was pretty awesome. Got a little tour of the distillery and quick history of this establishment. Some taste testing of the different spirits the make. Staff was amazing and friendly. Tasted their Vodka thats distilled 7 times and it was smooth and a subtle sweetness, their Gin is made with 5 different ingredients and it was truly a very unique and tasty Gin. Now the Bourbon was spot on, subtlety sweet and smooth and had a cool little story behind the name. If you get a chance check this place out. They also have a wood fire oven and make some damn good Margherita pizza. read more

We walked in on a Sunday night and sat at the bar. Everything was going fine, we picked up a menu and decided what we wanted. This is where it went wrong. We watched the bartender make 2 drinks for 10 minutes. He kept talking to the same customers. That's all fine and good, but he didn't even acknowledge, or say hi or hell be right with us. Just stared blankly at us occasionally. We wait for another 5 min and nothing. No acknowledgment whatsoever. We ended up going somewhere else. I can't tell you how the drinks were as we never got served. They looked good, but I can tell you there are many other establishments I would rather spend my money at. read more

Took the tour yesterday at this developing business. The cost is $10/person and my group of friends ended having a private tour since no one else booked our time slot. This place is small and still in development. Some might not want to take a tour when a business is still in construction, but I think it is still cool. The tour guide is the owner of the place who does the actual making of the alcohol. He is a wealth of knowledge, answers any questions and super gracious and friendly. We stopped by Arizona Distilling on a recent Saturday afternoon with the specific intent of buying a bottle of whiskey for my sister's birthday gift. I wanted to taste their options first, in order to make my selection. The woman was very cordial and poured us five tastes, placing the bottles on the bar behind each glass so we could examine the labels at leisure. I loved that she was no-pressure, no excessive chit-chat, just let us do our thing and answered any questions we had. Some of the whiskeys were better than others but they were all very good. We ended up buying the one bottle for my sister and another bottle for ourselves. We will be back to taste their other offerings (vodka, rum, etc). Good place, recommended! read more
