Ask the Community - Arlington Center For Dermatology

Can I get dermaplaning done here?

We generally uses microdermabrasion before a chemical peel or laser procedure instead of dermaplaning. If hair removal is desired, we have lasers for all skin types for laser hair removal. Dr. Angela Yen Moore

Great place. Wonderful staff and doctor. I definitely recommend this dermatologist…read more Two thumbs up

TLDR: Don't go here if you have a busy schedule, are…read moreconcerned about price, need to reach someone on the phone, and have specific questions about skin. I recommend trying Essential Dermatology (I have not, am not, and will not get paid by them for this review). Why I removed stars: - Unclear upfront pricing & expensive pricing - Nowhere in their appointment booking process, appointment confirmation process, portal onboarding process (where they ask you for all your documents including your driver's license), and even while filling out paperwork and waiting in the lobby do they mention a consultation will be $267 - Extreme delays - I got there at 2:07 PM and wasn't seen until way later. The appointment was for 2 PM and I didn't leave there until 3:50 PM. The appointment itself was fast though - Bad communication - They did not pick up the phone multiple times when I called during work hours. An extension wasn't provided until after the consultation. - Incorrect address - Address sent on the calendar invite after booking an appointment is incorrect (it just generically searches for "US Dermatology Partners", which brings up multiple offices, not the one where you booked an appointment); also when you get to the right location, the entrance is on the sides of the building, not the doors actually labeled #139 until you get inside the building through the side doors - Lack of detailed knowledge - The staff seemed somewhat knowledgeable, but when asking more specific questions, there was a gap in the knowledge / experience. - I brought the VT Reedle Shot and Naturium sunscreen, which they had not seen before. - I asked about how Accutane should be considered while also considering egg freezing, and they didn't have any guidance except to not get pregnant and only attempt egg freezing or pregnancy at least 1 month after finishing Accutane. - No notes provided after the consultation and also not found in the patient portal - It's difficult to remember all the timing on the pregnancy tests and bloodwork labs required for Accutane. There are certain timeframes in which you need to do certain things, and trying to remember all this without providing any written notes is almost like the whole consultation was pointless. Also, your medical notes from this provider will be in a totally different portal, so now you have 2 logins you need to remember and manage, and double the risk that this confidential information is mishandled, lost, or stolen. Why I am keeping one star: - Everyone was polite I had cancelled a consultation with another provider that was closer to me because this one seemed more promising due to it having a national presence. When I asked if they would consider matching the consultation cost of ~$170 by this other provider (despite never mentioning a cost throughout the whole process), the secretary said she needed to ask Dr. Sydney Marvin, but she ultimately declined. To help other people that are interested in Accutane and want to avoid paying $267 to ask a few questions (most of which you can find online anyway), you can see the Accutane pricing in the photos attached. In my research, I had also found: - Essential Dermatology in Bedford, TX (https://edermgroup.com/) - Honeydew (https://www.honeydew.com/) - ClearHealth (https://helloclearhealth.com/) Essential Dermatology consultation cost is ~$170 if you prefer the traditional model, and if you also want to be able to reach someone on the phone. Honeydew & ClearHealth are tele-health alternatives if you just don't have time to twiddle your thumbs in the doctor's office and be late or have to cancel meetings in a busy workday. I was only half-listening, but I think this Arlington location also is not open on one of the weekdays, or maybe it was Saturday (which is not really flexible). Note that I'm never been paid and will never be paid by anyone mentioned here. I just already did the research and hope it helps you. Lastly, the extension they gave me at the end of the consultation was EXT 4722 for the front desk (name is Lily).
