Armeñime Centro Juvenil located in Calle Poetas Españole, Armeñime, is the Spanish equivalent of a UK youth club. I am reviewing this more for the ex-pats as it is not really a tourist place, you certainly need to be a Spanish speaker, but it is an excellent way for teenagers to make friends if they have recently moved to the area.
There is a group of regulars, about twenty or so, and it is open during the day in the holidays, and after school during term time, and the whole weekend. You can go down there and just hang out (they have a little cafe), play pool, or football, or go down to the beach for one of the many activities you can do down there - beach volleyball, surfing, even boating.
There is a small charge to cover the staff's wages and the activities but it is excellent value for money and well worth it. The staff are very nice and do speak some English so new joinees will feel welcomed even if they are not yet fluent in Spanish.
I would say that this youth club is a great way of people new to the area making friends and keeping occupied (since many ex pats move over to work the summer season, their kids might be bored). It's certainly a great resource for the area and somewhere for the Spanish children to stay safe too. Everyone is welcome and the atmosphere is great. read more
