There's an indoor sports hall, two badminton courts and a community room on the site, and activities there include dance, trampolining, softplay, martial arts, yoga, nursery, various youth activities and community meetings. For children the community centre also hosts children's parties, after school activities, holiday programmes and pre-school trampolining, as well as arts and crafts activities and dance classes! It's a pretty busy community hub, and even has rooms available for private hire. Worth checking out the classes available if you're new to the area and looking for something to do in your local community.

The beds were pretty good though and lots of lighting and power outlets which I very much appreciate and enjoy. Also the bathrooms were very clean and very convenient, it is literally a 10-15 second walk away from the rooms. The reason for the 3-star though is that the walls are way too thin, not only between rooms but also facing the outside too. Every time someone was walking up and down the staircase and the hallways, you can hear them and also if they were outside talking to. So I've got to say, not the best night of sleep I've ever gotten. Also, they don't give you a towel so be mindful of that. Other than that, not a bad experience for Bath YMCA but I would be cognisant of that going forwards.

The Good: The location is very close to the Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths, the two main attractions in Bath. Still, we were fairly far away from the bus and train stations, so that was annoying (especially with a broken suitcase handle). The breakfast that was included was good and enough to fill us up for the day. The rooms were fairly sound proof and were cleaned and well maintained. We were far enough away from downtown Bath that the nights were nice and quiet. The Bad: I don't like having to pay to rent towels, but it was only a pound per towel so it wasn't the end of the world. Also, they didn't have an elevator, but I am starting to get the impression that that is the norm in the UK. The Ugly: Nothing in particular.

Much gratitude to the Salvation Army who performed minor miracles in their efforts to help me after…read moremy car was towed by the council last night in Bristol. If it hadn't been for the extreme generosity of spirit of the people at The Salvation Army in providing me with all sorts of assistance, (use of their office computer, the printing of my insurance certificate and ultimately taking me to Avonmouth to retrieve my car etc.) I would have faced the prospect of, as a female, sleeping rough in Bristol in sub-zero conditions as I could not have afforded a hotel or a taxi to North Somerset where I live. I consider myself extremely lucky to have been so well supported by people who had no obligation to assist me whatsoever. I have emailed them today to offer my voluntary support as a way of saying thank you for their kindness. Tracey, the Minister on duty at the Salvation Army Citadel, dropped me off at the pound, making a considerable trip in icy conditions, despite having a young child with her, who obviously would have preferred to go home for her tea. Matt, one of the lovely people who works in the offices at the Bristol Salvation Army HQ had previously supported all of my efforts to find out what had happened to my car, (I thought it had been stolen), by surfing the internet and making calls etc. He then printed documents that were essential in order to get my car released. I cannot say thank you enough!
