I would NOT recommend hiring this law firm to manage your personal injury claims. I had never been in an accident before, so when I was rear-ended, I was advised to hire an attorney to help with the damages and medical bills, so I consulted with Hupy & Abraham and another firm, but ultimately decided to go with Hupy & Abraham because they seemed to have greater experiences with personal injuries. In the beginning, everything seemed to be going great. The legal assistant assigned to my case (Natasha) was extremely helpful and did an amazing job with the process of obtaining all my medical bills, etc. However, fast forwarding to the actual settlement and negotiations with the insurance company, my experiences with the attorney assigned to my case (Ramzy Hallaby) were substantially less than satisfied and completely lacked all regard to the client. First, the attorney never reached out to me to discuss my case and what I went through (accident/injuries) prior to speaking with the insurance company. He never took the time to discuss nor understand the facts of the accident, the injuries, the pain and suffering endured from the accident, and never even asked how I was doing post-accident before discussing any offer from the insurance company. Instead, I got a call one day from the attorney and he advised me that he had gone through the initial negotiations already and had an offer from the insurance company. I was taken back a bit with the notion that he had already started the negotiation process without even consulting with me first. At the time, we discussed the offer and he advised me that it was a "good" offer and I should consider it based on the variables relating to my case (i.e. injuries, medical bills, treatment, etc.). Secondly, when I contacted the attorney again about a week later, we discussed the offer from the insurance company and I felt that it was a low ball offer, in which the attorney now changed his view of the offer and agreed that he also felt it was a low ball offer and gave me my options; either take the offer or file suit to see if they raise their offer a bit in lieu of going to mediation or a trial. A threat tactic he said they used often in these circumstances. At this point, the attorney was telling me that he strongly agrees with me that is was a low ball offer and suggests that we should file suit to seek an increase in their offer, so I agreed to move forward with the filing. However, another week goes by and I receive another call from the attorney, who has now changed his view again and was now indicating to me that we should take the initial offer because he didn't think we would get an increased offer from the insurance company even after filing suit. Completely frustrating. At the time, he gave me every impression that he didn't care about what I wanted, and didn't want to work any harder than absolutely necessary and just wanted the quick settlement for himself. I was so irritated at this stage that I just wanted to be done with the whole process and be done with the firm and my interactions with the attorney. I didn't care nor need the money; I just wanted to remove myself from having to deal with the attorney any longer. In hindsight, I should have trusted my gut and went with a smaller law firm that would have taken the time to listen and treat me as a person versus the uncaring, insensitive, callous treatment from the attorney from Hupy & Abraham. I would NOT recommend hiring this law firm to manage your personal injury claims! How can you effectively negotiate a settlement for your client if you've never taken the time to discuss the case with your client? I know they teach that in Law School, so the attorney's at this law firm must be coached on forgetting about the client and only worry about the numbers.

I hired Hupy and Abraham because of their reputation. I am a small business owner and I've heard from a current client about the service they received. It's true, every email I sent with questions was responded to in a timely manor, I was assured and I felt like I had an army. It was much appreciated as I am always very thorough and want everything to be completely understood and thought out. I financially walked away from my nightmare about 10 months after the accident with a settlement that was almost enough to cover my employees that I had to hire for me while I couldn't work or was unable to move properly. I was alive and just thankful to be done.- Good enough for me, I thought. However, this past week I went for a check up at the same hospital/clinic that I went to the ER to after my accident. Something the receptionist said triggered my mind to ask her to double-check for me my balance (Assuming it was $0, as I was assured it would be MULTIPLE times both via phone and email by both my lawyer and his co-worker/settlement assistant) But that wasn't the case. And this is where the MAJOR issue now lies. I have an outstanding balance of $3300.00+! I was/am shocked to say the least. I assumed there was an error and had her check two more times and I called the billing dept. instantly. I checked my emails and replayed phone conversations with Hupy where I was told the others insurance company doesn't believe part of my balance (from a possible brain liaison caravan & mri-that was nothing, thankfully) was not related to the accident-(even though I would have never known about anything possibly wrong without going to the ER and the doctor telling me that after my accident) but fine, it wasn't related and I said I understood that they thought that. But my lawyer told me that the others insurance company would give me enough in my settlement to cover this portion of the medical balance anyway. And multiple times again, I was asked by Hupy if I wanted them to give me a check to pay my medical bills or if I wanted them to pay it for me.-my lawyer and I both agreed that THEY would take this amount out of my settlement and pay it "so I would never need to deal with the bills". But now, I need to find a way to pay this big remaining balance. It's a horrific situation to be in and any reassurance and peace that I had before is completely gone and I feel lied to because I was lied to. Someone messed up and it wasn't me. I was told that hupy would take care of the bills from my settlement but due to miscommunication on their behalf I now am in a nightmare, again. I had asked multiple times if I would have to take care of any balance from my medical bills and it was always NO-There's no way around it. I explained this to both people involved from Hupy and they "understood my frustration" and couldn't believe they missed this. (Pretty big thing to miss) -the settlement assistant couldn't even answer my questions and understood what it "looked like" so she told me that she would have to have the lawyer who represented me call me because she didn't know what to say. Just moments later he did & He said hr agreed it could have been handled differently and offered to sit down to show me the numbers... which would help zero, unfortunately. I already completely went over all communication and it is completely their error that now has me in a completely devastating spot. He told me to contact the billing department at the hospital and ask them to "write off or decrease the bill" but after many attempts of me desperately pleading, they wouldn't. I understand what he told me YESTERDAY on the phone and his new explanation but that's NOT what I was told two months ago and the months leading up to it. I am one person and I own a small business. I try my best to get by and do the right thing. I do not have the funds to cover something like this. I understand that it is not a seemingly big deal to some, but for me it is. $3000+ is for a lot of people. I don't understand how this can just be looked over. As a business person, if this happened in my place of work, I would handle it way differently. I liked my lawyer so much throughout the process (which is why I'm not saying his name) but there was a mess up no matter which way it's looked at. And it's going to cost me BIG. For these reasons, and more, I now completely advice anyone to look for other options when considering legal representation.
