There's a good selection of local stuff here, of which I purchased a cool bear coffee cup for Gayle. As we had a train to catch (Via Canadian heading to Vancouver), we didn't have enough time to do this place justice. I'm not sure there will be a next time for us in this part of the Canadian Rockies, but if there is.....

Out of all the little gift shops on Connaught, this is the one that my friend and I spent the most…read moretime in. Simply because, it is PURE comedy! This is not a place where you want to bring a child that can read. There are a lot of magnets, postcards, mugs and gifts that have cheeky sayings and innuendos that would be understood by most adults. I have posted pictures of some of the items that are in there. This is not an adults store - it is definately a sourvenir/gift shop. If you have a sense of humor, you can be entertained in here easily for the duration of your stay. Definately check them out if you are looking for a unique gift for a friend or family member with a sense of humor. I did find the items quite pricey in here (for example, $24.99 for a travel mug). However, there are more inexpensive items as well. Enjoy!

This was a fun excursion that I would highly recommend to anyone who visits the area. You lead up…read moreto the experience driving on the Icefields Parkway, a very cool (no pun intended) experience. We arrived at the visitor center where we had some lunch at the cafeteria while viewing the glacier. There was a lot of anticipation as we were all looking forward to the ride on the ice designed vehicle that can get to speeds of up to eight miles an hour. There are only 23 of these specialized machines designed for glacier travel and 21 of them are located here at the Columbia Icefield and the other 2 are in Antarctica. It's a 6 wheel drive vehicle with 6 monstrous wheels and it can travel up or down a 35 degree incline at at a blazing speed of only 5 mph The other part for me [besides having my wife and great friends to share the experience with] was our fabulous tour guide Riley. She is a wonderful-enthusiastic person. MAKE SURE, you hit the restroom prior to the trip as there are no restrooms on the glacier. We exited the vehicle once we landed on the Athabasca Glacier. We were told to be careful of the puddles, and potholes were clearly marked. I stepped out of the bus into a puddle... So much for listening. Once you're there, you just walk around, enjoy the scenery and snap lots of pictures. I was with Riley snapping many pictures. Again, she is a terrific guide. I walked a glacier 25 year's ago in Alaska and that was fun arriving by helicopter. Again, I highly recommend this tour as it becomes part of the whole Canadian Rockies experience.

The Columbia Icefields Center is the prime spot for getting tickets primarily for the Athabasca…read moreGlacier and Skywalk. You can do either one or a combination of the two. I prebooked through Get your Guide however if you go this route, you still need to check in at the ticket counter to receive a physical copy of your ticket. Both the Glacier and Skywalk tours were worth it. The guides for both itineraries were insightful and on time. The Center itself is big. They have a Starbucks, a nice patio viewing deck that overlooks the Athabasca Glacier (great for photos btw) and a gift shop with restaurant on the premises. I was a little confused as to where to park. I accidentally entered in on the bus drop off side. Drive a little more west, past the facility, to find the public parking area. There is an elevator at ground level but if you choose to, be prepared to walk up a significant number of stairs to get to the entrance since the main entrance/ticket area is on the 2nd floor.

I then requested a 2nd sample which I broke into 3 pieces and shared it with my 2 partners. we committed to purchase one of the samples tried and bought approx $7 worth of fudge paying cash. when I asked for a 3rd sample to try a different flavor , I was told its one sample per person. and we did have 3 people and only 2 samples had been served. I reminded her that we were 3 people and she had only given samples. we left the counter and were looking for jade/rocks. I went back to the counter and asked the lady why she denied me the 3rd sample - on what grounds ? . In other words I was asking her to apologize but she would not and said she would give me another free sample . I told her the purpose of my asking her why she did not offer a 3rd sample was not to get one but to determine if she discriminates vs people of a different color/race . She was furious and refused to answer my question. I will never visit this place ever.

Forget the fudge, I could have spent hours in here browsing through fantastic kitchen gadgets. Camping raclette? Check. Lemon mister/zester? Check. Silicone utensils of every shape and size? Check. What a nice surprise! There's also, of course, lots of gemstones, jewelry and a little tourist kitsch, as well as some really cute little gifts like handmade ornaments. It was just a quick stop-in on the way back home, but I'll definitely be stopping by this neat little shop the next time we visit Jasper.
