We had a nice meeting in our home with the salesman, he discussed our options. We really needed a new system as our was 12 years old. We got approved on the spot for a new system, scheduled the install for a couple of days later. They showed up on time, and they completed the job by 3 pm. They cleaned up and removed the old system. The air conditioning felt amazing and worked so silently, we could hardly tell it was on except the temperature got to my comfort level within hours. I am more than happy, I am grateful since I am retired and spend a lot of time in my home. Thank you so much for your help! read more

No one wants to take responsibility. Request manger call, didn't get. Sent in a negative review, finally got a response. Provided number to call back, it did not go to person they said I needed to talk to. Worst customer service ever for a $15k unit. Installers set AC to the wrong tonnage. This caused a duct to blow out. Was cooling my attic for about 2 weeks. Had tech come out. He said the install was nowhere near their standards. Said a reinstall team would come. Took a day or two, same bozo install tech came out (even though I said I did not want). Figured he would see all the stuff that needed redone from ticket. Took his word for it. Issues still happening. Went on attic to inspect, duct work seals coming no undone, damper flap still not right and on ground. 4 th visit. Was told manager would call and appointment made. Nope! Had to call myself to schedule. Not feeling good about it at all. And the other worst part, my attic was left a disaster with boxes, paperwork, loose screws, non used wires everywhere! I hired this business to clean out my drain. They came out twice and failed to clear my drain. They only snaked out to fifty feet. I had the CWP out to mark my line to the sewer. It was well over fifty feet. I called to inform them of the issue. They had already charged me TWICE. They said if they came out with a 100 foot they would charge me a third time. Had AC unit replaced by ARS about a month ago. They have now been out 4 different times and we've been without a working AC unit for 3 days. First technician came out to clear the drain line but evidently did nothing because the second technician said the drain line had not been cleared. He also told me the drain line should have been replaced when the new unit was installed but it wasn't. A week later the unit stopped working and after waiting around all day for the technician he told me that it was a broken part and they'd have to order it because they don't keep parts on hand. It has now been 3 days and I can't get any update on when the part will be in or when someone will come to fix it. The only person I can actually talk to is in their call center and requests to have a person that can help call me don't work - nobody ever calls. I wish I had read these reviews before using ARS. Communication with customers is almost literally non existent. I called every day to find out if my part was even on order and get an estimated time of repair, not one person has bothered to return my call. After waiting around for the service call all day they called and said they needed to reschedule because they were delayed. They had nothing for the following day and we rescheduled for two days later. On that day I again waited around all day and they called again and said they were too busy and had to reschedule. My mother suffers from severe and chronic medical issues and has been without air conditioning since Friday, June 10th. To say that ARS Rescue Rooter has been less than helpful is an understatement. My mom called me today in tears due to this situation and the unpleasant conversation she had with Nancy in the Charleston location. She was especially upset by the way Nancy (head of the Service Dept.) spoke to her and the tone she used during their last conversation. I followed up this morning with customer service and requested a call back from a Manager. My hope was to find some immediate resolution to this problem. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. Nancy called me back and upon the initial interaction, she was extremely verbally aggressive, dismissive, and rude. I had to ask her several times to allow me to speak. Each time I attempted to advocate on behalf of my mom she interrupted me and refused to listen to the issue at hand. Although I requested and was told a manager would call me back, Brian apparently had better things to do and requested that Nancy return my call. Although I was told by the Customer Service representative that my mother should not have had to wait this long or an additional three days after the parts are delivered to receive service, Nancy refused to assist in helping resolve this issue. Not a positive experience at all! We made a same day appointment through Lowe's with an ARS service representative for our water heater. We were called back about an hour later asking if the appointment could be moved due to how busy their plumbers were. It was a Saturday and the appointment was rescheduled for Monday. The lady was very nice and expressed appreciation for our flexibility. We then received a call on Monday near the end of our supposed appointment window from the tech saying because we lived so far out, his boss told him to just call us and quote us for a replacement. If where we lived was an issue or out of their service area, they could have told us when the initial appointment was being set up. Instead, they kept the appointment and could not even be bothered to come and take a look at our water heater. Talk about a disappointment! ARS was very kind to us when our Nest thermostat went bad. When I called, they informed me that the warranty through them had expired but was still covered through Nest. In stead of them making me go through the process, they came and replaced it for $50 and it only took 2 days. I would definitely recommend them for all your hvac needs read more

These people are beyond horrible. What's worse, they don't care. They have their business referred by Home Depot so they rely on one time customers only. I spent nearly $40,000 on 4 air conditioning units and assorted plumbing. It took them over six months to properly install the systems - they did not work. It was only my weekly calls to them and my complaints to Home Depot that finally forced them to fix the issues. Communication is horrible, customer service is non-existent, and management refuses to call owners with complaints. There are so many reputable plumbing and HVAC companies out there. We scheduled ARS to replace our Heat AC system. Monday morning AJ and Bert(?) showed up with our new system. They worked hard all day and late in the afternoon the new system had been installed, tested and AJ was showing me how to use the new thermostat. Both were very courteous and professional. The old system was loaded into their trucks, and the area was cleaned up before they left. The next day we received a phone call asking if a supervisor could come look at the job they did. I was very surprised when I told him we had noticed a rattle type noise that appeared to be coming from the air return. He found a piece of duct work that was knocking on the wood frame. He went to his truck and returned with several screws and the tools he needed to repair and stop the noise. read more

Disgraceful customer service - AVOID AT ALL COSTS This is a long review, but I promise if you read to the end you will get a full sense of the disgraceful 'service' this place provides. Worst 'customer service' we have ever seen. No resolution 6 weeks on from when the initial issue occurred. We recently purchased a house from a seller who has been a long time customer of ARS (around 5 years). She didn't think the upstairs bedroom was cooling correctly so she had ARS come out and look at the issue. They adjusted the damper on the HVAC system so the bedroom would cool normally. He also quoted her 2500 in work that needed to be done, and told her this could be done at a later date. The next morning, the seller noticed there was a water stain on the kitchen ceiling exactly below where the overflow pan sits. This was around the kitchen in-ceiling lights which is obviously dangerous. She called ARS again letting them know the situation and that whatever the service guy did, caused the pan to overflow. ARS sent the technician out again and he adjusted the damper for a second time, and told the seller no more water would spill into the pan, and that the work needed could be done at a later date. The head office also told the seller they would fix the damage done to the kitchen ceiling, since this occurred after they came out the first time and adjusted the damper. Unfortunately, all of this occurred the week before we moved into the new home. The seller and her agent were great at trying to follow up with ARS and were told numerous times they were looking into it. It was also suggested she got someone to fix the ceiling, and they would reimburse her. This was declined, and ARS agreed to sort and fix on their end. We moved into the house and continued to follow up with ARS. After numerous calls with the regular service desk (who didn't have a clear understanding of what was going on, or took the time to care what was happening), we were told to contact the manager Katie. We are yet to ever talk to her, or receive a phone call back from her. I'm not even 100% sure she exists. We were called by Chris (the technician who originally came out) who explained what had happened and did confirm the sellers story. He said to call the ARS office again to discuss fixing the ceiling. Upon calling, we were given the head office details. We contacted the head office and were assured this would be escalated to the higher up managers. We were told to send pictures of the damage despite the technician already coming to see the damage in person. We sent the pictures over and it was confirmed they received them. We were told we would have contact by EOD the day after. Days went by, so we followed up again and were told they would escalate it again. Again we did not receive a call back so we followed up. This time we received a phone call back, and were then told they were unable to discuss the issue with us since the seller was the customer. We explained how we have been contacting and speaking with numerous people at ARS already, so we're confused as to why we were only being told this now. The manager representative said they had contacted the seller and her agent. We spoke with the seller and agent and confirmed this never happened. They have since tried to contact ARS again to discuss, but have been ignored. Despite being told ARS couldn't speak to us, we got a call from the head technician named Brian and were told the original technician who visited the house shouldn't have came back the second time. Apparently he's no longer with the company (probably not true). We explained that point was mute, since he did come back, and the work he did caused damage to the ceiling. We were told that he would contact the GM and he would personally get back to us which of course, never happened. We have called numerous times since, and are continuously given the run around. We are first time home buyers, and would have continued to use their services in the future had we had a good experience with them. They have zero respect for anyones time. We have wasted HOURS trying to get answers and to have them deliver on their promise. Over 20 phone calls from us, and numerous calls from the seller and her agent. They do not care at all. We will be taking our business else where to a company that actually cares and are competent in their work. We are forced to find someone else to fix the ceiling which they promised to fix due to their negligence which caused the issue in the first place. As first time home buyers, this puts an additional financial burden on an already expensive time, through no fault of our own. read more

ARS installed my Reem Tankless hot water heater originally so when it started heating only sometimes I called them. A service tech came out the same day, took the cover off, ran some water, Yep, it's error code 11, failed to ignite. Asked me if I'd ever flushed the unit, no I hadn't, didn't know I should. Then he told me that since it was 14 years old and hadn't been flushed they couldn't work on it. Then gave me a quote for $4000 to replace it. Then I started looking, comparable unit is $1000 at Lowes, and it's already plumbed and wired, so I called a neighbor that had installed their own, no problem he says, and hour maybe. Meanwhile I googled error 11 and it's a $25 electrical switch that has NOTHING to do with flushing vinegar through the heater. I replace the switch myself in 15 minutes. Total ripoff, "nope can't fix it, give us $4000". If I wasn't at all handy and could watch a you tube video I'd have paid it to have hot water back because I wouldn't have known better. We used ARS to install a mini split AC unit. Unfortunately they installed it poorly (they admittedly did not clamp and secure the drain from the unit) and as soon as the humidity started to climb we started having leaks and water dripping all through our drywall, around the door jams, and in our brand new floors. They came out and fixed the leak and then sent out their contractor to start the repairs...but now for 3 weeks...we have been waiting on repairs. We call them and there is no response. They reply to yelp reviews with a number that does not work (we have called them all). I finally have resorted to calling the corporate office and am waiting to hear back. I get that mistakes happen, and we didn't badger them about that...but not taking care of this in a reasonable manner is quite frustrating. At this point...i would stay far away from ARS. Update #1 WE HAVE reached out to corporate. Just like the local office, we are waiting to hear back. I'm not sure how patient you want us to be. It's been almost a month!! Your contractor was all set to begin work last week but then was told he couldn't please get this resolved as soon as possible otherwise we will have to consider legal action. Update #2: And yet another day...without a phone call or response from ARS. We called twice yesterday (Monday). Twice last Friday....no response. Please do yourself a favor and avoid these guys. My property had an ac unit installed in May 2018 which we were told would have an air cleaner installed during the sales visit, I personally had dynamic air cleaner in the unit and a uv light in the coil, a nice commercial Venstar stat with dehumidification control on it, replaced with some generic garbage. Anyway, no air cleaner installed - not surprised, but the concerning part is that on 3/31/2020 it started leaking, June 22, 2020 - charged us 59$ for a broken float switch and draino into the drain line.. which while a functional float switch is a good safety mechanism, it is not a safety that would be in operation of a functional air conditioner - the secondary pan is an overflow safeguard if the primary drain is malfunctioning. About three hours later it tries to come on and shuts off, it huffs and puffs and tries to start but it can't. Couple days later the senior tech shows up June 24, 2020 2:30 ish no mask middle of the pandemic, it's okay you've only been to everyone else's house in the area, no chance of spreading anything fake virus got it. Did a "16" point inspection whatever that is, it sounds made up. Turns out the unit was installed improperly. It was not level I guess water doesn't run uphill who knew? Not these guys. Happy to say the unit drains like it is supposed to now though. Unfortunately the wall and downstairs ceiling tell a different story, and you'd think the folks responsible would own up and fix the damage they caused like a decent company would. Nope they're support is just as their name implies ARS. Thanks guys! Homeowners, word of advice, pay an educated service tech from these companies to moonlight and install you a unit, cost you half as much and most likely results would be better, even if not the results couldn't be much worse. read more

My AC went out on July 14, 2023, and water was pouring out of the ceiling in the hall closet. At approx 430p at 88* inside, I turned the AC off and called ARS Rescue Rooter. I was told that someone would be out sometime between 5 pm and 8 pm. 8pm rolled around and ARS had not arrived or called. I called them back and was told they would contact the tech and have them call me to give an ETA. I waited until 9pm, (inside house now at 92*), and asked what was going on, that no one had ever shown up. I was told at this time that they would call the tech again, but it would prob be better to reschedule for in the morning. I told her this was crazy, that they are supposed to be 24/7, and I had been calling since 430, it was 92* in the house, I have asthma and two geriatric dogs, and now at 9pm, I have to try to get a hotel for the night, because no one could show up or call when I had an appointment. No thank you ARS. Due to your professionalism, and 24/7 no service, I am out an additional $249 for a hotel. read more

I requested callbacks from the Charleston office and it has now been a week and no one has reached out to me. Also, what good is making an appointment (over a four hour block), changing my schedule to make sure someone is there, only to have them cancelled so many times in a row?! I am not sure how to approach this other than to post on yelp. We have had multiple repairmen out for our two month old $11,000 AC unit. This will be the fifth service call in two months. We have asked for callbacks from the manager and have received none. The tech even put it in his notes for the manager to give us a call about the issue. This last call my son had to help, since it was a two-man job and you only sent one tech. The issue with my AC is not being addressed correctly. Dispatch can't help me because they seem to be the only ones I get a hold of when I call. Please make this right because you haven't yet. My only other option is if this isn't fixed on your end is to take it elsewhere legally. Obviously it's something with how you have installed my AC. . Still waiting for a manager to call me. Our three year old unit was running loud, worked great. We've been lied to by this company since day one. We got quoted $60/hr for labor since they parts are under warranty. We purchased a new HVAC system from this company about 5 years ago, so when our unit began making loud noises we called them for the repair. We paid $278 for the non-emergency service call and diagnostic fee and were told the fan motor needed to be replaced. We were also told the part was under warranty and had to be ordered, and we would be charged for labor only when the part came in. The tech came this morning and replaced the fan, which took less and 1 1/2 hours to fix. We were charged $510. I expressed my concern about the amount and verified again that we were not being charged for the part. The tech confirmed that was accurate and said that the charges were set by corporate and I'd need to discuss it with them. When I asked for a receipt and itemized invoice I was told it was in my email. Sure enough, a receipt was there but no invoice! After several phone calls (and no invoice) I finally spoke to the "quality assurance" person. Now I completely understand being billed a full hour for any portion of an hour, but that still means we were charged an hourly rate of $255 per hour! Her "excuse" was that "you need to understand that you are also paying for orher things like the technicians' expertise." "Which is why I need an invoice! What other things am I paying for?Because apparently expertise is "extra" with this company." She finally admitted that we were indeed paying $255 an hour! When I questioned this rate she just said, "Well, thats what it is." We should have been given an invoice prior to requesting payment; I have never dealt with a company that did not provide one at the time the work was completed. Our questions of exactly what the $510 paid for are still basicall unanswered, as they are likely trying to find a way to justify those exorbitant charges, because there's no way we should be charged that much per hour! (TL;DR, I waited for 6 hours, when given a 5 hour window, for a service call that took 10 minutes, due to the utter lack of ability within the dispatch / main office to schedule, and coordinate the efforts of their employees, in order to get the job done. 0/10 recommend this company. In light, the technician did a wonderful job assisting me, and answering all my questions when they finally showed up (to which I do not place the blame on the technician, but the managerial staff).) To open, I would like to remark that this comment about the level of quality of the technician that was allocated to my service call. The respectful demeanor, experience and level of knowledge of the technician seemed more than adequate. He gave very clear, and concise answers to all of my questions. I appreciate his contribution to his company, and to customers. I would really like to focus on the customer service from their main office. Because I lack the ability to find a better term, I will continue to use terms like "dispatch" and "allocate to service call", because I feel those are most appropriate. My statement is this. The dispatch office that allocates technicians to service calls, and appointments, is probably by far the worst I have ever seen, in all of my time dealing with various companies that handle the support of household utilities. I would probably rank them with Comcast. When you give a customer a definitive 12-1700 window that the technician will answer your service call, you make that happen. You look at who you have scheduled that day, and you allocate, and reallocate technicians to various service calls as required in order to make that window. I was also informed that I would be given a courtesy call at about 45 minutes before the technician would be on their way. I called at approximately 1400, on Tuesday 12/11/2018, to check on the status of the technician dispatched to my service call. I was informed that the person allocated to my request was finishing up their current call, and that I was next in line, and they should be here shortly. I hung up, satisfied with my answer, because I did not believe it to be unreasonable. I called again at 1617. I was given the same answer as the first time I called. I hung up again, a little frustrated, but again, understanding that some calls, for some situations can run long, considering the unknown reality of each service call going into it. The initial symptom or problem identified, could always be the result of another underlying issue, and would not be discovered until well into the investigation process. I called AGAIN, at 1730, now 30 minutes passed my service window. Met with the SAME answer. Before I allowed myself to speak in an unprofessional manner, I cut the conversation very short. I had to take a half of a day off of work, and not be available to pick my daughter up from school in order to wait for a service call, that was no where near on time. I find it completely unreasonable that expectations of timely service are so low, that the people in charge of dispatch, and ultimately responsible for allocating technicians to service calls, cannot get their own boards straight. I get a call back from the main office, telling me that my name had been allocated to 2 technicians. (One would think that you would get service, in half the time, but no). Due to the confusion, this caused a significant delay in response to my service call (which was very simple I might add) I find it completely baffling that a company that day in and day out, schedules, and re-schedules their personnel to various service calls, cannot figure out a simple resource allocation program. This was my first time dealing with ARS / Rescue Rooter in Charleston, and I do believe it will be my last. If I cannot count on the timeliness of scheduled service calls, how else are they going to let the customer down? read more

I had an appointment after 4pm. Got home at 4:16 and just happened to turn around and saw the ARS van drive down the street. Tried to flag him down but he kept driving on. Meanwhile 5 calls later still not here at 9pm and the person that answered the phone is getting smart with me because I'm upset. Will never use or recommend this company to anyone. read more

My experiences with ARS are a faulty installation that has never been fully fixed, absolutely terrible customer service, and some frankly shady af installers who were the root of all the problems. I have had nothing but issues with ARS since they did my HVAC install three-four years ago. Every problem I have had with my unit has been because of a shoddy installation that took two days for a 1300sq foot condo. Fast forward to Tuesday 9/8, where I call them to come over and look at the leak stains around my vents, and the mold patch on my ceiling by a vent. We set an appointment for Saturday 9/12. Total no-show, I called ARS three times at 11:55, 5:00 and 7:00 and only received one call back. Their contractor was all over town but never called me to tell me he was running late, backed up, overworked, whatever. I was supposed to have someone come over Sunday 9/13 - no one came, no one called. read more
