Currently it's $23 for a men's cut, and I usually pay $30 with tip. There are typically 3-5 barbers cutting hair at any given time. I usually come on Saturday mornings, between 8-10am. There's usually no wait earlier, but as you approach 9/10am you should expect a wait of 1-2 cuts, so roughly 20-40mins. Most of the barbers aren't fluent in English, but I've never had trouble explaining what I want. You should bring a picture if you have one - that always helps. read more

I was trying to go in for a hair cut but they wouldn't cut my hair mind you I am a female and more on the masculine side, when I walked in I sat down waiting to be called, 30 minutes go by and they still didn't call me then they started closing the door and I told them if I can get my hair but mind you this is the second time I told them, he then told me they don't cut women's hair, so apparently women can't get a haircut at this location. I went to this barber shop because of the good reviews, but the Korean barber at the front chair closest to the door is not good at cutting hair. My hair cut is uneven at the back where it is tapered and my front left side was cut in a weird way. It does not follow the natural flow and direction of my hair making it look very uneven. Even my Korean friend who I took with me to translate just in case, commented on my bad haircut. I've been going here for over 5 years now. With no problem. I would always get my haircut from Anh. Today, I go in as usual, and I ask for the same haircut, but they make me get it from this new employee that i've never seen before, since Anh is gone. I asked for the haircut below, an undercut combover. This dumbass gives me an uneven military fade if that's what you can even call it instead, and to top it off, he doesn't even finish cleaning my hair and the ends of it, and yelled so loud at me and ripped the hair catcher sheet off me so hard that he choked me for 3 seconds. I never once raised my voice at him and mind you I've been going here for over 5 years now. I had the same barber for last 16 years but i had to make a change because I was getting tired of driving to Costa Mesa for a haircut every month. I looked at few places near my house but I decided to go with this one because the price was reasonable and everyone seemed pretty friendly and down to earth. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is an old school Korean barbershop. There are usually three to four barbers on site at any given time, and it's walk-in only. I suppose you can request to make an appointment with a specific barber if you like one particular barber, but most people just come and wait until one of the barbers becomes available. I've been here four times so far and had my hair cut by three different barbers. Each barber cut my hair slightly different even though I gave the same description to each one. Luckily they all did a good job so I still don't have a specific preference. Each barber finished the haircut with a straight razor shave around the edges for that nice, clean look. You can get your hair washed at the end for $2 extra but I've been fine with them just using a vacuum hose to suck up all loose hair at the end. There's not much in terms of vibe, but it doesn't bother me. All I want is a simple, no frills haircut, and this place gets the job done. read more

The best men's barber shop in town. I used to take my son to hair salon which costs more and cuts just a tad bit with hair clipper. This place uses scissors! Like many others mentioned, this place is very spacious and clean. Once you are seated, they tape the mask and lift the elastic so you don't have to fully take it off. They use scissors most of the time which is a huge plus and they also use razor to trim the edge nice and neat. When finished, they vacuum the nape of your neck and side. Just letting everyone know as of 1/28, yes, they are back open after newbum lifted the stay-at-home order and going back to the original tiers. Google still says they're temporarily closed. I left my mask on throughout the entire haircut and it was fine. The head barber with the glasses cut my hair this time around, and he managed to cut around the mask while moving the ear straps around when necessary. No biggie, and they seemed careful. And just FYI, price has increased +$3, which I am totally fine with due to their closure.. Just be prepared for that incase you only brought exact change + tip. read more

I called beforehand to see if it was by reservation or walk-in, and was told that it was walk-in with a 15 min wait at that time. I've read that it's best to bring in a photo if my Korean isn't up to snuff, so I found the style I wanted then headed out to get my haircut. There were two folks ahead of me and the wait time was about 15-20 min as anticipated. When I sat in the chair, I showed the barber the picture and communicated what modifications I wanted. Haircut went great, the barber was very meticulous and neat, and the best part is that it looked exactly like the picture with my intended modifications. This barber shop is run by old Korean men that know their cuts. Don't be hesitant if you don't speak Korean because they understand some English. I was looking for a cheaper place to grab a cut since my other barber charges $30, and Art Barber Shop is perfect. Their cut is only $17, and they have senior discounts. The barbers are all very friendly and they have very nice free perks. At the end of your cut, they will razor your lineup with cream, and then vacuum your entire head at the end. I went in and was relieved to find no waiting. Two older Asian gentlemen with heavy accents instantly accosted me. As I was taking off my motorcycle helmet and gloves one, presumably the manager, all but shouted at me to get in the chair. An utterly oblivious person with no social graces. Okay, I'm thinking that's fine. Par for the culture clash course. I sit down and before they ask any questions they've wrapped the little strip of crepe paper around my neck, then the apron, which for some reason they make into a little tent for my legs by clothes pinning it to the counter (haven't seen this before. It's as if they're trying to tie me down. Now the other guy asks me how I want my hair cut. I try to tell him to give me a Marine Corps regulation (my go-to). I try explaining to him the "zero to three" concept--from O" above the ears to 3" on top, evenly graduated. But there's no way I can make myself understood. His English is so awful I can barely understand him, and he apparently cannot understand me at all. I don't want to be that guy, complaining about someone's bad English, but he's unbearable and like the first guy, utterly graceless with no concept of how to interact with people. Finally I tear myself out of the little bondage tent they've tied me into and say "sorry, we'll never be able to understand each other" and walk out. Maybe they're okay. I understand they're cheap. Haircuts are $17 and I tipped $3 to the barber named Lee. I took a picture of my haircut 4 weeks ago after my last haircut. I showed it to Lee and he went to work. I'll be honest with you, I was very nervous since my other barber has cut my hair for years. To my surprise, Lee did a BETTER job!! He was VERY thorough with my cut. I have been coming here for 5 years and over 50 times, and this review is a long time coming. Lets start off with the pros and why I still go here despite the rating: 1) Super fast cut. With usually 3-4 barbers on duty, I rarely waited over 30 minutes anytime I went...which was all walkins. Granted I always went in the morning on the weekday, so YEMV. 2) Above average quality for the typical male who just needs a clean nice cut. 3) Very cheap. Usually including tip I have only paid $25. Now lets look at the cons: 1) Very very unsanitary. They never wipe, clean or even sweep hair from the previous customer who was sitting there. They use the same clippers without barely wiping and often times you will see other customers hair stuck on the clippers they are using on you. They even use the same towel to wipe you down from the previous customer. They also basically use a vacuum hose to clean off your face and head of loose hairs...mediocre job at best. 2) Anything fancier or pickier requested than the average cut will most likely not have a good result. The best barber by far is the one with glasses, younger, with a good amount of hair. Despite the review I will still continue to come here as options are limited for me. But I wouldnt mind paying more for more sanitary procedures. read more

I usually cut my own hair and have been for the past 15 years. This past weekend I was cutting my hair and I was distracted with phone texts that I accidentally used the hair clippers without a guard and cut a chunk off. Incredible barber shop! These men truly are artists! Took my boyfriend here to get his hair cut and we needed somewhat of a fade. I watched him do a 100% job on my boyfriend's hair using clippers. While sitting and waiting, I watched another man do a fade using only scissors and a comb. They went so far as to use powder to make sure that the hair was even and then used a straight blade to clean up his side burns and the bottom of his hairline. When they are all done they take vaccuums and sponges to get all of the hair off. All of the haircuts I watched them do while I was here looked spot on. My boyfriend's hair turned out flawless and that's coming from a very picky person (I'm a perfectionist) Job very well done! We will be back! read more

My hair grows out pretty quickly so I need a fade or a cut every two and a half weeks or so. You can imagine how much damage haircuts do to my wallet since I need a cut this frequently. It's an old-school barbershop with traditional stations waited by an older generation of Korean barbers. They greet you, ask what you want, and they'll perform. They use a combo of clippers, scissors (where they cut the side hair with their thumb as the base and go around - Ya'll know what I'm talking about!), and razors for that clean look/feel you can't get at a salon. Vacuum your head once done! Nice! They accept cash and card. Plenty of parking. If you want to get a perm, highlights, dye your hair, get your hair did in hopes to look like some KOREAN boy band and or actor, go elsewhere. This is a BARBERSHOP DAG NABBIT!
