This review relates to several home and pest (WDO) inspections Michael did for us in 2014-15. (We…read morehad several deals fall through when sellers refused to correct major deficiencies or make appropriate price adjustments.) Based on my own experience as a licensed building contractor (new commercial and industrial work in Southern California), I can say with some authority that Michael's work was reasonably thorough and professional. His reports were comprehensive, clearly written, and well-documented with color photos. After three other inspections on failed deals, we felt as comfortable as we reasonably could have about the condition of the home we eventually purchased. Nobody's perfect, however. So while, for instance, Michael called out items he found in the deep, dark recesses of the attic, he completely missed the fact that most of the home's windows had never been caulked between the frames and wood siding. So as our first winter bore down, I got to spend my free time on a ladder with a caulking gun, instead of fishing and hunting. We were also disappointed when, after the seller hired a local handyman to make some repairs, Michael got a bit pissy and came to this guy's defense when we complained about the shabby quality of the work (including initially venting a new bathroom fan directly into the attic space). *** The subject home is now in escrow (short notice job transfer), and is being inspected soon by another local contractor named Brad Havens. It'll be interesting to see how the two efforts compare.
