He will let u try samples but has his finger in the cup before filling it which sort of grosses me out. I shall try and order online next time. The quality of the products is what makes me revisit every time I am in the area.

Okay, let's start with a caveat: the prices are a bit high with a small (375 ml) bottle of olive…read moreoil starting at about $15 bucks. But, the awesome thing about this small store is that you can taste anything you want before you buy it. So you know you're getting something you are totally crazy about and there's no risk of ending up with oil that's too heavy or too garlicky or whatever. They also have a huge selection of balsamic vinegars which you can taste as well. I recommend starting with the oil and then working your way to the other side of the store since the basalmics can be a tad overwhelming. (I had to ask the lady that works there for a glass of water because after a few tastes I couldn't distinguish one from other). I ended up buying the Tuscan herb olive oil (a fabulous mix of oregano, garlic and basil) as well as the walnut oil which I think will go great with any of the fruitier flavored vinegars for a salad dressing. Other winners were the Porcini Extra Virgin (the salesperson says it is made in Italy by a family that has some secret way of steeping porcini mushrooms in EVOO so no extracts are used) and the Blood Orange EVOO which I imagine would be great on fish or in a salad dressing.

We planned to pop into The Butler Pantry for a few minutes…read more Quite a while later...we were still wandering around saying, "Did you see this over here?" I don't even cook enough to justify half the things I wanted...but somehow I still left mentally redecorating my kitchen. This isn't one of those tiny souvenir shops where every shelf feels the same. Every turn seemed to reveal something different. Beautiful cookware, cast iron, colorful serving pieces, specialty spices, hot sauces, jams, gourmet pantry items, candles, linens, and kitchen gadgets I suddenly became convinced I couldn't live without. The building itself deserves some appreciation too. The exposed brick walls, original hardwood floors, and historic charm make browsing feel like an experience instead of just another shopping trip. I found myself looking up at the ceilings almost as often as I was looking at the shelves. One thing I really appreciated was that the staff struck the perfect balance. They greeted us, happily answered questions when needed, but never hovered or made us feel pressured to buy anything. That let us take our time and simply enjoy exploring. Whether you're a serious home cook, shopping for a unique gift, or just someone who loves wandering through stores full of things you didn't know existed, The Butler Pantry is absolutely worth a stop while you're in Saugatuck. Just don't expect it to be a quick one.

As a kitchen and housewares nerd I've always loved swinging through here to browse their wares…read more They've got some nice kitchen gear. Pots, pans, serving ware, pretty dishes, cookie cutters, gadgets, etc. They've also got a nice selection of dips, spreads, jams, and mixes for baked goods, soups, sauces, etc. We stopped in this past weekend after a few years away and I was happy to see they've now added a small cooler section in the back with some great picnic items and snacks like cheeses, spreads, charcuterie, even miniature butter packets--perfect for a nice little baguette when you're visiting and don't want to commit to an entire package of butter just to have a nice snack on the beach! Things are a little pricier here but it's a boutique store in a vacation town so it's to be expected. But their offerings are good quality so there isn't a ton of sticker shock! Highly recommend coming through to browse and grab some snacks!
