I was worried about a few things after I booked ArtHotel Connection: Scaffolding outside the windows, disco downstairs and crowded bar next door. I was assured none would impact my stay and it was true.
Due to complications with booking.com pricing, I had to book two individual stays in different room types for 6 nights; however the hotel upgraded me and I didn't have to check-in/out and change rooms.
I noticed each room is uniquely designed, swanky and tastefully furnished. Very cool.
My superior double room #14 was large and included a sofa. The bed was very comfortable. There was lots of afternoon light and the windows could be opened to let air circulate. My room faced Welsterstraße so it was more quiet than if facing Fuggestraße. The wifi signal was strong enough to use at Bar Kess across the street!
Staff were all friendly, helpful and enthusiastic in wanting to make my stay the best, especially the super cheerful breakfast/reception guy. He was awesome! I stayed 6 nights and breakfast was the same; however, I got into the routine by changing up the made-to-order eggs.
I loved the antique elevator which was faster than expected for being so old. It reminded me of old Crawford/Davis movies. I laughed to myself because I kept waiting for the door to open after the ride, but you have to open them manually.
Located in the heart of the Schöneberg gayborhood, there are at least five gay bars and 3 gay stores within a stone's throw of the doorstep, plus the 30-year Connection club is on the ground floor. The club is only open on weekends (get free passes from the hotel).
Based on the breakfast room, this gay hotel is hetero-friendly, but the clientele is predominantly gay. What a pleasant switch! I will definitely make ArtHotel Connection my place to stay the next time I'm in Berlin. read more
