Yup I'm taking dance lessons.... Crazy, right? My wife wanted to for a long time, and then I saw a daily deal and went for it. So we've been 3 times so far and they actually are pretty fun. We had a mix of private and group lessons and covered a few different dances. Overall its an enjoyable experience. read more
I'm familiar with the Arthur Murray chain because they have studios in the USA, but I've never actually been inside a studio before. We decided to sign up for some ballroom dance classes to ensure we don't look like idiots at our wedding, so my future hubby did some googling and found Arthur Murray. We went in for our initial meet and greet where they taught us some basic moves to get a feel for how good (or bad) we were at picking up the steps and assigned us a teacher. We've since been to four classes (two personal and two group) and are really enjoying ourselves and considering continuing thereafter. A few things to note: -The studio looks like it was built in the 40s and hasn't had a refurb since. Obviously the floors are redone and they have full length mirrors, but the studio is off Wynyard Ln (a glorified alleyway) and spans over two floors. The bathrooms are outdated and the paper towel dispenser I swear is from WWII era. -The personal classes are taught in the main studio and are conducted while other couples and individuals have their individual lessons too. You have to navigate around the couples and jump around with different steps and music, so can feel a bit sporadic. They say they do this to teach you a lot and work on different things, so I'll trust them on this. -The group classes are upstairs in a nicer studio and I've liked these so far. Our first group class was immediately after our individual and it ended up just being the two of us so we ended up with 2 private lessons in a row! I like these classes because you learn a few things that give you that extra flair in your dancing. Will have to update this when all of our lessons are completed! read more

History
Established in 1912.
Arthur Murray is the largest and most prestigious dance organisations in the world, and the Crows Nest Studio is one of the founding studios for Arthur Murray in Australia. Originally opened in 1968, the Studio has been teaching the lower and upper North Shore of Sydney how to dance for the last 50 years. Our philosophy is simple - everyone can learn to dance! Arthur Murray himself, over 100 years ago, developed the infamous "Arthur Murray Way" using a specialised system of instruction which makes it fun and easy for anyone and everyone to learn. Learning to dance can be a little scary and it can put you outside of your comfort zone. Our dance lessons have been designed to suit any skill level and our programs are tailored to help you achieve your dance goals. Your first lesson is FREE! So there's no pressure or stress, just come in and see what we're all about. Check out our website for more information.
Meet the Business Owner: Chris and Joanne M.
Chris & Joanne have both been dancing since they were tiny tots. Their passion, dedication and enthusiasm is the reason why Arthur Murray Crows Nest remains successful to this day. The Crows Nest Studio opened its doors in 1968 and began teaching the upper and lower North Shore of Sydney how to dance. In 1995, Chris Michaels and Joanne Middonte took over the Studio from Chris' uncle, Nicholas Romano. They are successful for two simple reasons... they love to teach and they love to dance!
