This has been on our list to try and do happy it finally happened. This is such a cute restaurant gives old school dinner vibes but for breakfast. I ordered the egg and bacon sandwich with jalapeños with a side of extra crispy hash browns. The sandwich was very good and a good size and the jalapeños were pretty spicy but delicious. I have been going up to Big Bear for decades. I have passed Arthur's over three decades and never stopped. I finally did, and I was not disappointed at all. From what I observed motorcyclists and veterans are usuals. I love the decor. My favorites are signs say, "Letters for our Troops." That got me already. I love supporting our troops! There's a bar, a dining room, and a little area where you can sit outside. It is so cozy. Two in our party order their special, Apple Crunch French Toast. One ordered the corned beef hash. WOW! We loved the food! The special was soooooooo good! And when they say that they are known for their biscuits and gravy, they are not lying. I have never had biscuits and gravy as good as Arthur's. Next time we are there, I am only going to order the biscuits and gravy. The gravy had chunks of sausage, and the flavor of the gravy stayed in my mouth for a long time. I asked for my eggs over hard, and my eggs were cooked to perfection. The coffee is pretty strong, too. Shelby was our server, and she is so awesome! She is so sweet and checked up on us often. As we were getting ready to leave, a usual came in, and she asked him if he wanted his usual. That is service! If I lived closer, I would be a usual as well. One of the best dinner side salads I have ever had. If you love beets and homemade croutons, you're going to love this salad. Sometimes the wait can appear to be very long with people standing outside waiting, but believe it or not they get you in really fast so be patient. After a long morning of off-roading up in Big Bear, we wanted to stop by this place before heading home. We showed up exactly at 1:30 when it was closing time for them and these ladies took our group in and treated us like family. These ladies were extremely kind, polite, friendly, hardworking and beautiful. They put together a couple of tables for us to fit our group of 6, took our order and got us our food very quickly. I came across this no frills place with a dated interior but plenty of character. The staff brought me a tall glass of iced tea almost before I had a chance to sit down. I then noticed the back of their t-shirts: NO WHINING. My kinda place. I ordered one of the specials, a chicken fried steak sandwich. Fried egg, lettuce, tomato, green onion, Swiss cheese, and a side of gravy for dipping. Gravy sounds excessive, but omg it's not. Sooo good. The Arthur special omelette was delicious with crispy bacon inside it (not limp) and topped with a generous size sliced avocado and ample amount of sour cream. The hashbrowns were crispy as I ordered. The sourdough toast was thick cut, toasted well, buttered. Very enjoyable satisfying, meal! The only downside for me is I was really craving an omelette with mushrooms, in which several appetizing options were available on the menu. However, their mushrooms are NOT fresh.
