This store is really cool. I went in today looking for some very specific things for an art project. Not only did this store have exactly what I needed, but I'd been searching for days, and they even offered to help with future projects and sourcing. Seems like a true small business that deserves more attention. There were some things that were a little out of my budget but overall the pricing inside seems very fair for the quality they are providing. Allegedly they have classes there too, I have not taken one but am interested, the owner and her daughter/employee were incredibly kind and I can't wait to support more in the future 10/10 read more

If you hate hate hate with the burning fire of ten thousand suns finding parking in North Park or University Heights but yearn to visit a cute store like one you'd find there, head over here! It's tucked off Mission Gorge rd really close to Mission Trails, so plan to swing by before or after a hike. It's also like ten minutes or so from Mission Valley-- just head east on Friars and continue onto Mission Gorge. There's a little bit of everything-- actual antiques, cute mass produced items(but curated!), lots of locally made jewelry, candles, cards, and other accessories; and tons of plants and home accessories. I got a candle embedded with birthstone crystals, a card, and a large iron on tiger for a jacket because as someone born in the Year of the Tiger I am legally obligated to purchase all tiger paraphernalia On another occasion I bought a pond pump, an art print, and other cards. They also hold pop up events and classes, so come out and support a small local business! There were two employees there who were very nice and checked in with me without being overbearing. Also say hello to the two panther (rainbow) chameleons--which to me is worth the trip. read more

Stopped by this little gem on my way back to Texas. Really cute & imaginative gift shop! I loved all the plants & succlents, as well as the very original gifts! Such a cool shop! I love going to see what they have in stock. Remember this place isn't just a plant shop, they sell art and other cool things. Yes not all plants will be super nice and healthy, I was able to score a plant for $1 and revive it at home. Now it's such a huge plant and it makes me happy that i was able to score it for just a $1! As a plant mama, I enjoy trying to rehab plants. can't wait to see what new things they have! read more

Artifacts and Artichokes has now entered my regular plant shop rotation. The types of plants they have at affordable prices is crazy! I heard of this place through a local SD plant Facebook group and I am very glad I took a look around! They have options where you can buy online and then pick it up in person and it's awesome! You can look around see what else they have and the one plant you came to get then becomes 5 lol! In my defense, the really nice and helpful employees extended their 4th of July deal for me on a Monday and how I can refuse buy 3 get 1 free?! But seriously their plant collection is so extensive, I finished buying all my most wanted plants! They also have a very cool rare plant vault which you must ask to see but it is seriously amazing in there! I could have been locked in there forever and I'd die happy. All in all I am very happy I was able to visit. Can't wait for next payday so I can buy more! read more

If you are plant person in San Diego, THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST VISIT. I only heard about this place through a different employee at another very good reputable plant shop, and my friend and I immediately wanted to give this place a visit. Both my friend and I are plant people, and are fully aware of the gimmicky 'Instagram' plant trends. Although I personally don't primarily follow these trends, but this place has some really good rare plants I honestly have never seen in any local nursery in San Diego. And even one of the shopkeepers here said that we "caught them on a bad day" because they do admittedly say that their heating systems aren't up to date (they are currently working on it!). To be fair, what is considered "cold" here in San Diego is basically the lower threshold of what most common houseplants can handle. So I totally don't care about the "cool" temperatures that we get during the winter. At the time I visited this place, it was only 5 months in business, and I'm honestly astounded that I didn't hear about Artifacts & Artichokes during that time. I've never seen a plant shop carry so many Monstera adonsonii!!! It's so good to see a true tropical plant shop here in San Diego. Not bashing all the other great sellers here, but this place has certainly set a new standard for local vendors. I cannot say how happy I was to find PLENTY of jewel orchids (Ludisia discolor) and Stromanthe 'Triostars!' These two have been on my -long- wishlist for a very long time! I look forward to the many other visits I will be making in the near future! read more

My second time here. Today I brought my 12yo daughter for the Terrarium workshop; I got a while to look throughout the store. There is so much! Daughter loved it and made an awesome piece. LOVE THIS PLACE! The owner and staffs were super friendly and this place has a good variety of plants. They even have a rare plant vault. They also sell super cute pots and other home goods. Before i left they even gave me some popsicles cuz the weather was so hot. Highly recommend!! read more

My husband and I attended a morning yoga class at the A&A shop. It was the epitome of a zenful Sunday morning! They have the shop set up like a greenhouse paradise w/ all kinds of creative gems in the mix. The shop owners had refreshments (and the cutest Frenchie puppy) for the attendees to enjoy afterwards. I perused​ the shop for lots of trinket gifts. The buyer does a good job of getting items you don't see in every other gift shop. Perfect for hostess gifts or stocking stuffers- just lil' "I'm thinking of you" gifts. They are lining up lots of arts & crafts type workshops in addition to their yoga offerings so I plan to be back soon! read more

Only giving 2 stars because it was such a cute store, however, it was extremely overpriced. I got 3 clippings of a monstera plant and it was $18, since the full plants were all $100+. Went to a different nursery and found the same plant rooted in a full medium sized pot for $25. Also a lot of the plants in the rare plant vault looked sick and were priced at over $300. The pots were also super expensive. It's a cute shop and staff is friendly, but unless you want to be robbed, I wouldn't recommend going. read more

I love this shop so much!!! They did have some plants that had leaves that were dead/brown spots. But nothing is perfect, they are a plant store, and they are busy. So to anyone who is saying "oh the plants look bad" or "oh I didn't like those plants" you know who you are, and nothing is perfect, people will make mistakes. I've been there a lot and the staff is really nice. And the guy with the curly hair ialso has a landscape business called NEL (Natures Elements Landscaping) They also have a really cute puppy! So, shoutout to A&A because they deserve the recognition. Especially during these hard times. And they may not get to them right away, and that's okay. read more

My friend and I were excited to check out the store. And when we got there, we were so disappointed. All the plants were droopy, had yellow and brown leaves and some looked like they were dying. I also saw that they were reselling IKEA pots! For almost triple the price. I know because I have the same exacts pots from ikea. They just took off the sticker and replaced it with theirs. read more

This place is the cutest mom and pop shop but for plants. They have a good variety of house plants along with a neat RARE 'plant vault.' The staff makes you feel welcomed. You can tell they truly care about their customers and their safety during times like this. They've added local artwork to their shop and are always looking for new artists (which I love!!)
