Artisan used to be one of the best coffee shops in the region, but the quality of food and service has drastically declined in the last year. The interior vibes are the same; open, spacious, and clean. However, the food and most importantly, the staff, no longer maintain the quality that made me a regular in the first place. Artisan used to have amazing coffee and excellent food, but the coffee is no longer very good. I think this is due to the staff. The food has significantly declined in quality. The hollandaise on their breakfast sandwich is now a broken, greasy mess. The "sourdough" is generic white bread. What's even worse than the food is the staff. In the last two years, the staff has degenerated to an incompetent , bedraggled mess. The staff has never had to wear a uniform, but perhaps it's time for them to institute one. In my last several visits, I've seen grossly oversized clothes that have the staff looking like they just rolled out of bed. Hair is unkempt, not brushed, loose, and hanging down past their shoulders. A recipe for getting hair in my food. Furthermore, the staff is no longer smiling or friendly and can't answer basic questions about the menu. They seem confused about where they are and the service they provide. On top of all this, they maintain their strict breakfast timeframe. Why they have decided to stick to antiquated time limits for the food that is always available in their kitchen is beyond me. The barest minimum of market research would show how popular breakfast sandwiches are all day. What once was a vibrant, friendly coffee shop with great food, good coffee, and pleasant employees now feels like a dressed up McDonalds. read more

This was my first time stopping into Artisan Coffee as it is a bit of a dive for me, so I was happy to finally be in the area to give it a go! This place is a charmer for sure and has a vibe to it that is cozy. The space itself is larger than what I was expecting and it was nice that they offered additional parking across the street as their lot is small and gets full very quickly. The space also has a stage and lots of windows for natural light which I loved. The baristas were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the different drinks and what they offered, which was really nice. Unfortunately, I did not try any food, but their menu offers a wide range of breakfast and lunch options including sandwiches, soups, bakery and more. I reached for the cold brew and a friend got a lavander matcha lattee. The drinks were good, nothing out of this world but I was glad they offered additional cream, sugar, etc out in the open in case people decided they wanted to add anything to their drinks. They offer a wide range of drinks including some really interesting specialty drinks which all sound fun to try. Overall, Artisan Coffee is a cute, charming coffee shop that offers a wide variety of food and drink and I am sure you will find something you enjoy at this cafe. If I am ever in the area again, I would definitely consider coming back here to sit down rather than to-go. read more

Stopped into this coffee shop after a funeral in the area, and it was ok. The coffee was nothing special, but it wasn't bad. The tea was not good - but maybe we just selected the wrong flavor. Also ordered a blueberry muffin which was very good and a gluten free scone, which was ok, but dry - but aren't all scones dry? (Ha ha). I ordered a double shot espresso macchiato. It was awful. Completely burnt, bitter, and nasty. I wound up throwing it out. The Customer Service was pleasant and the atmosphere inside the coffee shop is very nice. There's a lot of comfortable seating. This is a decent place for coffee. They have plenty of tables and a couple of couches for you to sit and wait/drink your coffee. They have a fireplace too. We didn't receive the best of service walking in, but her demeanor completely changed once we left a tip. We got a Cappuccino and a Caramel Macchiato to go, coffee was good. Cappuccino was nice and smooth. The caramel latte was good too (I know what I said!). They had plenty of pastries on display, we were just here for coffee. After reading the reviews I knew I had to plan a visit here, so after leaving the hotel just before 6:00 AM I made the 18 minute drive to see what all the hypes about. I drove past my final destination about halfway to this coffee Mecca and arrived to find the parking lot almost completely filled, so naturally I expected the line to start at the door, as I approached the door I met up with a young lady who appeared to be on a mission and in somewhat of a rush so I held the door and let her cut in front of me - once inside I was surprised to find only her at the counter and already halfway through her order so I took the time to look around - even at this early hour there were lots of customers seated in groups some working, some visiting and some just enjoying their coffee and pastries. I took a minute to check out the menu board and was ready to place my order after the young lady in front of me exited the counter and walked around the corner to pickup her order - my turn but before I could start the process I was greeted by not one but two members of the friendly staff, they are definitely the kind of people you want to meet at a business at this hour, giant smiles and a positive greeting, so refreshing these days. I decided to order something outside my normal routine which is rare for me - A large "Americano", believe me that's me thinking outside the box - my request came back with a quick "great choice" as she turned to make it she shouted "do you need room for cream"? Not knowing the protocol and being I hadn't completed the transaction I stood in from of the register waiting to pay while she completed creating this delicious cup of magic. She motions me around while letting me know the nice young lady in front of "paid it forward" so I thanked her I rounded the corner as she was leaving she said it was the least she could do since I held the door for her and let her go first (this is why there's still hope for this world). Fantastic coffee and vibes! I visited to attend a book club and of course I needed to have a drink along with my reading material! I approached the counter and was greeted by a friendly employee who was able to recommend a drink for me and explained the pick up process. I got a Buckeye White Chocolate Mocha, it was very tasty and unique! As I waited for my drink to be made I picked a spot to sit, there were so many spots to choose from! I love this place! I really enjoy their cinnamon rolls which are available the first weekend of each month. I also like the cozy setting and the calm inviting atmosphere! Artisan Coffee is by far the best coffee in Akron. It may even be the best coffee in Ohio. This was at the top of Yelp's list so they have that going for them. Coffee is the main thing here. Other items include things like pastries. Inside it looks like it's pretty inviting. It feels like a cozy kind of place. There's still lots of room for plenty of seating. It used to be something else before this place came in. They make good use of the space, making this feel more intimate and relaxing. I had a latte with almond milk. It's about $3.50 for the medium size. The coffee is a little expensive but this is good quality. It also has more complicated drinks that take awhile. They are usually busy so it's expected you have to wait. It also has some pastries and other edibles. It didn't look like they had anything vegan though. This is a disappointment but I'm spoiled after going to all these other coffee places with vegan stuff up the wazoo. read more

Wow! Seriously, just wow. I never thought I could see myself living in Akron but once inside this coffee shop, I could actually picture it. It's no wonder Artisan Coffee made the number one spot on Yelp's Top 100 Coffee Shops in Ohio, it's extremely well deserved. I was in town for a work trip and had several hours where I needed to get some solid work done. I had this spot bookmarked and knew I would be coming here first thing in the morning. I arrived to find this place poppin! There wasn't a single parking space available in their lot and the tables were filled to the brim with groups of folks enjoying breakfast, with heads down typing away on laptops, kids devouring tasty treats, and professionals swinging through for a morning pick-me-up. I immediately got in line started browsing their menu and once it was my turn to order, I was greeted so pleasantly by one of their super kind owners. He told me all about their house made oat milk (that's crazy impressive), made-from-scratch baked goods, locally imported gluten free options, and more. Gosh, can I live here? Artisan Coffee, you want to adopt me? I ended up getting a lavender oat milk latte to start and it was likely the best I'VE EVER HAD! I don't use those words lightly and I am by no means exaggerating. It was absolutely amazing, I drank every last drop of it. Later on, my tummy started rumbling and I decided to stay put and order some lunch. I went with their pesto grilled cheese and a cup of their apple, brie soup. A grilled cheese is just a grilled cheese, but this soup was out of this world. I had never tried a soup with brie in it and I was taken aback by how delicious it was. After hearing that they also make a homemade cheesecake, I couldn't leave without taking a piece for the road. I ended up treated myself to dessert in my hotel room and I'm so glad I did. There's a reason this place tops the list for Yelp's best coffee shops in Ohio. What a charmer! From the delicious lunch and breakfast eats to the made in house baked goods (gluten free available), there are several reasons to Adore Artisan Coffee beyond delicious beans. Speaking of delicious beans, they roast their own beans and make several of their own strips. For example, the lavender syrup in the delicious lavender oat milk cappuccino that I thoroughly enjoyed. The space has a very communal vibe and was bustling during our entire visit. There are several larger tables making it ideal for groups. I was able to try two dishes from their menu- an amazing Gouda Apple soup with a granola crumble topping and a roasted veggies with goat cheese panini. The soup was certainly the star of the show and it seems as if they always have at least two to three on the menu. Parking is easy peasy in there lot and the staff was all very down to earth and friendly. This is one of those spots I would go off the beaten path to revisit. read more

I went in 15 minutes before close and felt kind of bad, but knowing I was going in for just a black coffee made myself confident enough to go in. The barista greeted me very friendly and wasn't at all disgruntled by me being there. He even offered me to stay and have my drink there. I told him I knew they closed soon but he insisted it wasn't a problem. Nevertheless I took it to go. Got a black dark roast coffee and it was very hot and very fresh. Great taste to it and satisfied my coffee craving for the day. A few more grounds in the coffee than I would have liked; but given the quality and time I got it. Not an issue. This place is really a hit or miss. When I say that I mean that the coffee is either too sweet or too strong. I always have to check before I leave the store otherwise I'm going to be an angry camper lol But other than that they have really good pastries, my favorite would have to be there chocolate chip scone. This is a really cool place for decent coffee and pastry, and I have been a patron since they have opened. However, after a few lunch orders that have gone just plain wrong, I can't really recommend them for lunch. This thing that they flopped into a styrofoam container under the description of a sandwich was a complete fail... and ultimately an insult to every other sandwich ever made. Burnt, greasy, soggy (as in, if I soaked it in a pan of dish water I couldn't make it any more soggy) and just plain disgusting. Did someone really make one of these and think "this is awesome, let's charge customers money for it"???!! Or was this an experiment to see if customers would actually pay money for it? This disgusting sandwich TIMES THREE was a huuuuuuuggggeee waste of money and a VERY big disappointment for our lunch today. It's Just plain awful, to serve someone this putrid garbage under the description of food! ALL 3 sandwiches went straight into the trash. read more
