They often have specials on (like buy 2 for $20) and they also have a loyalty programme that gives you every 10th bottle free. Quite convenient when you shop here regularly! They store your info in the computer so no need to fuss around with stamping cards or having a card in your wallet. They don't always open at their advertised hours... but they sometimes stay open later so I guess I can't complain! A good local store.

It's a decent sized store with such an excellent selection of spirits, imported alcohols and wine. I often come in here at christmas time and manage to find everything I need whether it be to drink or for in a recipe. If I need some alcohol for a recipe this place has lots of those small bottles of spirits which are really handy for when you don't need much. I'm on the fence about the service here however, sometimes I have experienced really rude service with little to know emotion shown towards me and sometimes I get someone really enthusiastic and knowledgable and totally willing to help. I suppose this is the case with a lot of retail stores though and I won't be holding anything against this store. It's got excellent parking right outside which also makes shopping here that much easier.

The owner of the store literally said 'awesome' fourteen times. Talk about an enthusiastic guy! He makes going to West Harbour Wines and Spirits worthwhile. Not that they don't also have a good selection of alcohol, mind you. Aisles of wine stand before you upon entry, not that I've ever spent much time perusing them. I usually head straight for the big fridge where a great variety of beers and ciders await. The alcohol is a little pricier at West Harbour Wines and Spirits than in central Auckland, but due to the Trusts alcohol restrictions this is one of the only liquor stores in the area, so they get plenty of business! And with such friendly staff, and such a clean, well organised and stocked store, what is a few more dollars anyway? I'd take shopping at West Harbour Wines and Spirits over buying my alcohol from a cheap and cramped little liquor store in Mt Albert any day.

First and foremost, the quality of the staff, at each of the locations is most positive. Though this location is where I purchase the overwhelming bulk of my wines, and have actually stored many cases of wine here for years at no additional charge, I have visited many of the area stores, and have consistently found the staff to be knowledgeable, friendly and helpful at all locations. Obviously there is a positive ethos inculcated from the top management and it carries throughout. The selection of wines, obviously heavy in New Zealand wines, but also from every part of the world attests to their thoroughness in offering their customer what they desire. In addition, they offer an extensive selection of spirits, most notably, whiskeys, also from all over. Prices are most fair, and usually undercut what the wineries offer for sale at their cellar door by 5-10%. There are always specials, based by promotional buys, etc. Gift wrapping is available and graciously promoted at no additional charge. Credit charge usage does not incur any additional fee. This location has recently installed a full-service café to satisfy those caffeine and pastry cravings. Parking is ample, both on their lot and on the street a few steps from their front door.

The shop assistant seemed knowledgeable enough, and managed to find a suitable bottle of plonk for mummy dearest, from the reputable wine region of ze Hawkes Bay. There was quite a collection there, from the pricier French Wines all the way through to the cheaper homegrown stuff. They even courier all their product nationwide for a measly two bucks fifty.
