The band is amazing. They played a mix of rock, classic salsa, covers of 80's musoc and instruments from Panama, Venezuela and Mexico. Their eclectic sounds in a setting filled with various art styles was a perfect mix. Got there early and enjoyed the current displays while I waited for the show to start. There were seats and high tables, with a small bar set up in the back. When the crowd started dancing they moved chairs out of the way to make space but it didn't take away from the show. Overall, it is a gem that creates varied ambiance depending on the event and offers a unique experience every time.

A converted chicken coop serves as a working potters studio and gallery with bowls, plates, mugs and various flower vessels available for sale. I purchased two unique glazed mugs for $28. The painters gallery featured abstracts, scenic water colors and acrylics in a variety of sizes. Our tour guide shared that many pieces of artwork are available for sale on their web site and custom pieces are also an option. We explored the flower gardens and enjoyed the park like setting around the "coop" and main gallery. Our visit was intentional as a stop on the Nebraska Passport Program and we enjoyed our brief encounter. If in the northeast area of Nebraska near the communities of Macy or Wayne, stop by and enjoy the views...both in the gallery and in the garden.

I believe that the "sometimes" was added because it used to be strictly classical music performances but has since become more varied. They do still have the bagels! These delicate oil on canvas mounted on board panels of Iowa cornfields were rediscovered in 1979, saved, and removed from the local Martin Hotel in the 1980s. The vibrancy of the panels is no more. Seeing them in the small gallery here is like looking at ancient murals. The viewer is faced with the creamy yellows, tans, and browns but little detail remains. However, sit and gaze at these for a while, let your imagination help you, and you'll get a sense of how lovely these panels must have been. For the local community, this Grant Wood work, even in its diminished state, is an important historic and cultural touchstone. The Art Center itself is a nice space for exhibitions. The few here were more interesting than I expected. I was especially taken with Teo Nguyen's giant acrylic on vellum 'Lotus Pond,' from 2018-22.
