Jim was willing to tackle what other local well known contractors were either unwilling to consider or bid so high as to be unaffordable. Our project proved to be a technical challenge from the onset, raise the ground floor by almost a foot of concrete, completely rebuild the first floor by installing 3 impact French doors, 3 impact doors and 4 impact windows, cut off support an internal staircase including modifying framing around a dumbwaiter, reframe and replace every exterior wall from 4' down. Plus an added surprise rebuilding and repairing 45' of a heavily spalled concrete tie-beam in less than a week. We're still amazed at how quickly and confidently Jim set about taking on the project, he seemed to have it figured out before we even committed to getting started. He knew just right carpenters and subs to assign the work to. Once they began, they never stopped till the project was completed. Workmanship was outstanding, inspections were a breeze. Covid never slowed them down! I commend Jim for the quality of work and attention to detail, no corners or shortcuts taken, stainless hardware/fasteners throughout and pressure treated lumber. Add them all up and we have a completely new remodeled permitted downstairs ready to withstand the elements. It is without hesitation we'd recommend Jim Rutherford Construction for any project or home construction. Professional, polite and a pleasure to do business with. Given the recent increase in cost of materials, we were more than pleased with Jim's pricing and fairness.

They were given a date to pay me a specific amount due to poor quality work. If not the had to pay me the full amount. They ignored all these rulings, have not paid me a dime and still the judge do everything to give them a pass. Not only do I want my money I will also share the court documents in the court of public opinions. Worst company to do business with. You see them coming run. Lock your doors. Instead of fixing the electrical issue from a light wall switch. a toggle switch was installed to the light itself. A handicapped elderly woman using this bath cannot reach the toggle. The towel rack and TP holder are lose. The (custom) shower pan was larger than it should have been and we lost sink space. The framing of the window and newly installed shelf is separating. The handheld shower bracket is lose. An agreed upon closet was never installed. We were stupid to pay in full and should have know better. they were very quick to ask for payments. We believe that they took on too many jobs at once so we received the tired workers. We were told that they were working on much more expensive projects and we took that as an insult, that we weren't important enough. These issues are over a year old and could have been resolved easily if they had come here to address them.

The work was just so beautiful with perfect vibrant colors. I could tell they are loved by the locals as while I was there viewing, there was a couple that the owner's wife was speaking to and I could overhear that they were there to get another piece. This is the type of unique Florida artwork that I will want once I get the space for it because though it says Florida, it is just not like all the other typical painting or designs you see. And damn... I'll have to make another trip down to pick them out! :)
