One of the FRESHEST spots in the Toronto -- The Artscape Wychwood Barns is a space that makes me extremely proud of my city. I snagged this from their press kit: + Artscape is a not-for-profit enterprise dedicated to culture-led regeneration and city-building through the arts. Artscape's work includes developing and managing creative buildings, building creative neighbourhoods, and designing strategies and tools to advance creative cities. Artscape Wychwood Barns houses 13 not-for-profit organizations, 15 artist studios and 26 artist live/work spaces. A community gallery also provides public access to arts and culture. Artscape Wychwood Barns officially opened in November 2008. I haven't spent as much time as I would have liked to in Wychwood yet, but back in December I was privy to an amazing reading by Cara Eastcott and Araya Mengesha (who I just saw on the BIG SCREEN in a great film called "nurse.fighter.boy"). The room packed in a solid 50-75 attendees, Cara and Araya slayed the piece. After a heated and extremely entertaining reading, the audience and lead acts took part in what became a two-hour discussion on race, identity, local culture, pop culture and beyond. I recommend that every Torontonian, at the very minimum, take a quick stroll around The Artscape Wychwood Barns. Find out what's going on, and if something peeks your interested, delve into it a bit more. Enjoy!

I came to this place for soupalicious. I didn't do too much exploring other than staying in the main hall where the event was. But If you like taking photos, this is a great place. Lots of great photo ops inside and outside the building. You can easily spend half a day here.

I found another fantastic Zara Man jacket in excellent condition! $23 with donation coupon discount…read more20% so great deal at around $18. I love this location at Bloor West and Landsdowne.

I really like this store, very much. Over and above the great discount on geriatrics day - as a member of their loyalty program I am incentivised by emails offering further discounts, and recently a free reusable bag for my purchases. So well done V V for engaging customers like me. Now about the store specifically - there is ALWAYS a treasure to be found. I do a lot with office stationery and the selection here is ever changing and I always find the right things I need - binders, journals, page dividers, sheet protectors, address labels for the printer - the list goes on. And the prices are a tiny fraction what you would pay at Staples or elsewhere; plus they are 99% of the time brand new, unopened, so the savings is huge. I have a tiny great niece and nephew and the myriad of books and toys and things for them is staggering - I have to show restraint! I do look at clothing too primarily T Shirts - I have found many with original tags on them from the shop they were purchased from. I have no problem buying these as gifts as they are unworn and unused as well for myself. The staff at this location are engaging too. I think they take a lot of abuse - like elsewhere these days and I don't for a minute think they deserve that. Any I have dealt with have been very pleasant and helpful and certainly engaging. I often wonder when people bitch about the staff - if it wasn't they themselves who are the nasty ones - NOT the staff. They are not predisposed to being unpleasant but I suppose they can be if approached by a negative and miserable nasty customer - which there is no need for. There is NEVER a need for unpleasantness. I like this store very much or I would not journey on TTC from downtown. I will be terribly sad when this branch closes, which is the inevitable as they are slated to close I understand. So while we have this location I shall continue to go and enjoy my journey and treasure hunt. Finally I hear people bitch about pricing. The simple solution is to remember - people vote with their dollars - if you don't like the prices - GO ELSEWHERE, no one cares about your unsolicited opinion. Do you bitch about the prices in every shop you enter? This is a for-profit shop they have every right to charge what they do - don't like it - go elsewhere. And finally remember what your mother said - and if she didn't let me tell you - If you haven't anything nice to say - say nothing. Cheers

PLEASE - if you change your mind, bring it to the staff at the front. They'd much rather have it in their cart to put back than finding it all over the store. To the review - this donation center is great. The staff is always so helpful and cheerful. I like dropping off items here when I need to get rid of well conditioned items. Shopping here is a hit or miss, as always with thrifting. I do find that I am more likely to find something I like here than at other locations. I think it's because I find this store a bit more spacious, so I'm more willing to spend time looking through the aisles here. The pricing here leaves me kinda iffy about wanting to shop here sometimes. They keep bringing up prices so sometimes, things aren't even a good deal anymore. It's suppose to be for non-for-profit and environmentally friendly to thrift. But here, I've definitely found over priced items, broken items still being sold, and items priced higher than the original price tags attached. Be patient, spend some time... anytime you're thrifting, you need to be willing to spend time combing through each item if you want a chance to find something great.
