I had heard about Factory Obscura for a few years and knew that Flaming Lips and some local artists were involved. It's an immersive art experience much like Meow Wolf on a smaller scale and I have to say it was very well done. You don't need a reservation (at least not in mid January) and the staff was great about offering suggestions for places to dine or things to do after the museum. I highly recommend you pay a dollar for the 3D glasses. This is fun for both adults and kids.

The tunnel protect you from severe weather or cold wind. The tunnels system link the commercial area, shopping, banking, restaurants, parking garage. Basically you can use it as a walk tunnel to connect all business. There are several tower in downtown that connects the tunnels. Many downtown people use it as walking path for restaurants during lunch time. We got into the tunnel through the Arvest building. We took the elevator to LL level to parking garage below the building, then followed the red painted path to enter the green tunnel. The tunnel divided into colors system. Each color represents different zone and art area. We saw many historic picture and art at tunnels. Visit time take about one hour. Th

It was also nice to be out of the heat. There were two photos that, taken together, don't seem believable as described. According to the captions, one was taken of OKC April 22, 1889, and the next on May 13, 1889 - just 3 weeks later. Not only has an entire city appeared in 3 weeks, but additional rail lines, and an outhouse added in the foreground. What really seems implausible, though, is a massive pile of dirt in the first photo has disappeared 3 weeks later, with no sign it was ever there - even the grass has grown back perfectly. In three weeks. I'd love to know how the dates were authenticated. We can learn a lot from our elders, so I really enjoyed the quotes and photos of people who had made it to be 100 years old. We entered through a door in a parking garage, but there's an escalator right up front in the BancFirst building that's probably easier to find. I'm attaching photos.

Even if it's "not my thing" Its still a great time. The staff is kind and knowledgeable and happy to share and answer questions. Last week I participated in a Foil Sculpting Workshop with artist Douglas Shaw Elder. It rocked! Who knew you could sculpt with aluminum foil? The participants were kids through artists and me! We all left with foil sculptures and another reason to love this gallery.

It also looks like a home part of the neighborhood, so you may not recognize it as a gallery at first. Similar to the other galleries, it's cosy like a home as well. Play with the light…read more Solid Light by Anthony McCall was such a fun experience. In a collaboration with the Tate Museum, the Oklahoma Contemporary Art Center has a very unique display. McCall's immersive light sculptures invite you to interact with but not touch the light. So much fun to walk through sculptural beams made of mist and projected light. This sensory experience was truly amazing. It was also a fun challenge to try to capture the images. The 2-D images on film barely scratch the surface of what you will enjoy in the Contemporary Arts Center. Ask questions to learn more. It was so interesting to hear about the installation. The center is just two floors of art. The exhibits change regularly. Parking and entry to the museum are both free. Enjoy the Solid Light.

I admit I was scared to leave the painting with a stranger, but it had been degraded by exposure to smoke from a house fire and years of smoking in the home followed by neglect in a storage facility so a cleaning and restoration was a necessity. On top of the stellar job he did in repairing cracks and missing pieces of paint while refinishing the wooden frame, Greg made it look like what I think it looked like the day my parents received it as a wedding present from Earl Halliburton in 1949. Even better, he completed the work in time for us to enjoy it again in its rightful place in our home for Christmas. So glad I had it done locally instead of sending it to an entity in Denver. It is about the size of a living room and has a fridge, etc in it, hence part of my curiousity. The artwork in there seems demonic, which is fine but there wasn't too much in it. I am still confused what the premise of this place is. If you catch the owner when he is not high, you may get a better answer.
