Each horse has a custom diet to ensure maximum performance for their life style. The barn hosts vaccine and deworming clinics too. And if that isn't good enough, their world class trainer, Kris, is second to none (literally she takes her girls to worlds). I bought my horse from Kris, she helped me train her and Jill and George have always taken the best care of her! Rosie has lived at Iron Gait for a few years now and is well adjusted and appears to be well cared for. We met Nick, the owner, years when he was first starting some major improvements to the ranch. He has done a really nice job of updating and upgrading the facilities. Nick and Shawna seem to be doing a good job of running the ranch and caring for 50 plus horses.

The owners are onsite quite often and make sure those that should not be at the facility are not, only owners, leasers or those authorized by horse owners are allowed. This facility is behind the times not only with their lack of amenities, but also in the day-to-day…read moreoperations and overall staff shortcomings. The management is rude, overbearing, heavy on unnecessary rules, and generally falls short in all areas of horse care and general stable management. Work orders were required to be submitted for very basic tasks such as lightbulb replacement, righting downed feeders, or fixing dangerous fencing. Once submitted, the work orders are frequently ignored altogether. The footing in every arena, indoors or out, leave much to be desired, and have been known on occasion to cause lameness issues. The dust in the indoor arena is extremely unhealthy for horses and humans alike, making it basically unusable. Stalls (which cost a pretty penny) are not even close to being level, and many have deep holes and buckling rubber mats. A constant lack of sufficient bedding also lends to horses experiencing problems with thrush and not performing well in general. The lack of shavings also tends to create a strong odor of ammonia, which, on certain days, literally burns your eyes and lungs. The fencing over the entire facility is rickety and dangerous, with particularly concerning areas in the daily turnout pens. The quality and amount of feed is sub-par, at best. Low quality roughage in minimal amounts required owners to provide extra food at their own additional expense and effort. Overall, this barn is unsafe, unfriendly, poorly managed, and not a place any serious owner/rider should consider doing business with. *** This is not even close to being a complete list of my grievances.

She's out there in the dead of cold to care for a clients sick horse or breaking waters that have frozen. She maintains all the rings multiple times per week. During the recent barn break-ins she offered solutions for parking to keep the clients safe. If you need extra food for your horse, she has your back. My horses have never looked better and are very happy. The board is quite affordable and the amenities are huge. I've paid more at other barns and had to use portable bathrooms. The kitchen is not only heated but has a real bathroom. It makes me sad when trainers who come there to build their business end up being untruthful and don't pay their bills. It's not ok for the clients of those trainers to then leave very rude reviews. There are plenty of clients there that have been residents for MANY years and they are loyal to this barn including two large animal vets that spend so much of their time at the barn attending to the resident horses! If you're looking for a quiet place to enjoy quality time with your horse, or to have your horse in training with one of the trainers at the facility, have open space to retire an old friend, or have a box stall with a run (with self care options) this is your place and if Emily isn't available to personally give you a tour then she will find one of the friendly staff members to fill in.
