Avi Yardeny remodeled our kitchen and downstairs den/family in our tri-level Dutch Haven home in Thousand Oaks. From the beginning, he was responsive, creative, and above all, honest. He quoted us a bid at tens of thousands of dollars less than two other licensed contractors in the area, and he always listened to our requests and ideas and told us whether they would work with our vision, structural integrity, and still be cost effective. The other guys didn't even want to try to knock down the load bearing wall that was a major part of our remodel plan; they refused because it was "too difficult to get an engineer" to plan it out. Avi was confident he could do it, consulted with the right professionals and made it happen safely. We love our new open floor-plan kitchen/living. Downstairs we had our old, huge, ugly rock fireplace demo'd and replaced with a very sleek mantel from Home Depot which Avi's guys installed. It was a huge demo job and they did great. They were very concerned about sealing up the upper part of the house to keep the dust from the project out of our bedroom and kids rooms. As often happens with remodels, some unexpected things did happen. We were out of town for most of the 7 weeks it took, but Avi and his team contacted us regularly and even sent photos of the project via text message. My wife and I hired Ary contraction to remodel our kitchen, put in new electrical, remove walls and put in a beam. According to the contract, the beam was supposed to be approved by an engineer. In total we spent over 50k on the construction. Three years later we find out from engineers that the beam he put in was not up to code. This is a series safety issue as the beam was used to replace an earthquake bearing wall. We called Avi and asked for information regarding the beam and he would not give it to us. He was obviously hiding valuable information from us that. Be careful when hiring this contractor. He is very unethical. read more

Apparently a neighbor in my complex had used ARY Construction as well to complete a more extensive/expensive job, and Avi met me at another time to show the work his team had done. I was convinced -- everything looked great. While initially I was just looking to have the ceilings scraped, I was an easy up-sell target for adding recessed lighting. Even though I spent more than I originally planned, I don't have a single regret. The lights look fantastic & I was happy to invest in them since I plan on staying in this place for many years. It changed the entire feel of the condo & I am in love with the finished product. Additionally, the ceilings look great and they were able to do other minor touch-ups around the rest of the condo. Avi stuck to his original timeline (starting immediately and finishing a day early), which I was very impressed with. He left the place in clean condition & even accepted a credit card for the lighting costs, which helped alleviate the hit to my bank account. We are in Simi Valley. Avi and his team just finished our kitchen. The process was quite quick. ARY Construction is efficient. We could not be happier with the results! Avi is a general contractor. He does many kitchen and bathroom remodels and he also flips homes and does complete remodels. Avi is very personable. He will work with you and your budget. He will make you part of the process and make the kitchen to your liking. And he will also bring many excellent recommendations and suggestions based on his great experience and we did take advantage of that. Avi has a great system. He has signed up suppliers for the cabinets, quartz, etc, that have excellent products at a reasonable price. If you stay within these boundaries (of their offering), then you will get a great kitchen for a reasonable price. He can also do the Rolls but he will warn you of the costs. Before meeting Avi we talked to the usual suspects, the extremely expensive kitchen remodeling places in Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, and Newbury Park. These kitchen places will not move a finger until your open your savings account widely! One of them told us straight that they do not do any jobs below a certain amount (way beyond our budget) which was more geared towards luxury homes. Another one in Simi Valley was so inflexible that we just stopped talking to them. If we had any comments on THEIR design to make a change, they would simply say "Well, you WANT a nice kitchen, do you?". Meaning whatever you want to do to reduce cost will look ugly. I had Avi come over for a quote, and after a huge sales pitch, and immediately trying to upsell me on light fixtures he came up with a quote of nearly 5000.00 part of this was to install drywall around a fire place, (950.00) The rest was for popcorn ceiling removal. My condo is a 1bd condo, and it needed removal from 3 large rooms, and some other small areas which you might count as one more room. When I asked about the 199.00 a room, he stated that was JUST for removing it, and that he would count the living room as 3 rooms, so the amount for just removing the popcorn would be 1000.00. This was double the price i had gotten from several other companies.. I don't take kindly to FALSE ADVERTISING! read more

We first used ARY construction 2 years ago when we bought a really outdated townhouse for my parents. Avi did an amazing job - the townhouse now looks like it came out of architectural digest. The price was really reasonable. Now everyone that comes to visit my parents is always amazed at the design ideas and the quality of the construction. Avi did a complete remodel of my condo: he renovated a kitchen and 3 bathrooms in my condo, removed popcorn ceilings, installed recessed lights and crown molding, installed hardwood floors, and painted every room. Can I just say "wow"? Here are the top reasons why you should hire Avi. 1) Avi has good taste. He gave me many great ideas, including bamboo cabinets. He suggested a money-saving idea for my problematic stairway ceiling that could not be drywalled--- and the result ended up looking great. And he suggested terrific tile patterns for the master shower. On the other hand, when I had a strong preference for certain things, he supported my design decisions. 2) Avi has great people working for him. I liked everyone that I met, from the electrician to the tile guy to the cabinet designer. 3) Avi's bid was very competitive. It was not the lowest of the 8 contractors that I interviewed, but I wanted quality and I got it. What is more, I might have ended up with the best price, because Avi threw in things that weren't in other people's bids, such as the kitchen sink (literally), bathroom sinks and bathroom fans. With the other bids I got, I would have had to pay for these separately. 4) Avi doesn't nickel and dime. In every remodel, you'll end up paying a little more than you expected because you'll change your mind about what you want. Or, in my case, you'll end up doing more than you think you will because you like what's been done so far. Avi didn't charge me for every additional thing I added. He makes a just profit but doesn't try to squeeze you dry. This is a kind of person you can trust. 5) Avi will take care of details. When something wasn't done right, he would make sure it got re-done without me having to ask. For instance, the crown molding in one place looked funny, and it was corrected. When all the walls got painted, he noticed the stairwell railing needed paint too, so he had it painted without an additional charge. When I was traveling for work for several weeks this summer, I found I could trust him to take care of things while I was away. 6) Avi got things done in the time frame he projected. The owner of the business (Avi) came out to my home to give me an estimate to paint the interior of my house as well as remove the popcorn ceilings, put up a new drywayll ceiling and re-install an existing front door. After a few weeks and a few other estimates (some higher some lower) I called him back to have him come back out to sign a contract. He again confirmed the cost of the job with me at that time and we proceeded to sign the contract and I gave him the deposit. A day later the owner called me and stated that he wanted to have the foreman who would be working at my house come by to take a look and see what material would be needed to get started. He came this morning and took a look at the job. This afternoon I got a call from the owner and he told me that he was no longer willing to honor the contract because he would not make any money on it (even though I had three other estimates that were all in the same price range). Really? So the owner/estimator of the business can come out twice and confirm the cost, sign the contract and still not get it right? Only reason I didnt give them one star is because I didnt even get to actually see any work get done. My feeling on this is that the owner was pushing me to have recessed lighting installed in order to boost his profit margin. When I opted not to have this done he decided it was not worth it for him to honor the contract. He didnt care that I had taken time off from work already to be home to not only sign the contract but to have the work done. He didnt care that my house was now in a state of tear up because I had begun the process of being ready for his crew to start in two weeks. He only cared that he was not going to make enough money to make it worth it for him to honor his word. As someone who is in the home improvement industry I know mistakes are made. They are generally caught quickly. They are not caught after three visits to the home, a signed contract and a deposit. At that point it is not a mistake. It is someone deciding that they do not care about the time the homeowner has put into their dealings with them. Ari is the worst contractor on earth. He lies about what he can do. My girlfriend and I had 2 bathrooms remodeled by him. He promised the world. We told him we wanted modern bathrooms and he agreed to do it. We bought all the tile and came up with the plans on how we wanted it done. A three week job became a 3 month endeavor. He had to re do things that were poorly done. He put the drain in the middle of our bathtub that is a step down tub. So instead of having the drain by the spout it was dead centered. Now when you shower in it you are always stepping on the drain top that sticks up a inch high. The molding is now coming apart. We have sealed areas that are now cracking. Terrible grout work. Our grout is all different colored. Promised glass that had the water resistant film and that was a lie also. He gave attitude when talked too. He talked to my girlfriend like she was a piece of trash so I eventually threw him and his crew out of my house. Had to have someone else finish the job. Very unhappy with my experience with him. If he comes to you looking to be hired do your self a favor and slam the door in his face. read more

Avi and his team re-finished our 60 year old hardwood floors. The price was very reasonable, our house was done in less than 3 days, and the work done was absolutely beautiful. Most importantly, I felt that I could trust Avi. Although the job we had for him this time was small, I will most certainly call Avi when it's time to re-do the kitchen and baths! read more

Let me tell ya a little bit about my pal Avi. After 6 years of living with our yucky old kitchen and leaky master bathroom, we decided to pull the trigger on our remodel. We started asking around for referrals for a good reasonable contractor. We put the call out to a handful of them. Avi, who was highly recommended by a trusted friend, was the first to call us back. When my husband hung up the phone he said "I already like that guy" haha! The next day he came through the door with a big smile on his face and good vibes. I am definitely a person that can read and feel a persons energy quickly, and he was someone I felt comfortable with in my home. He walked in and we got straight to dreaming and planning and problem solving. He even expanded our vision suggesting how we could make the most of the renovation budget, including a master closet overhaul. He spent a couple hours with us going through all of our ideas while I simultaneously juggled my small baby and 4 year old. He was patient and so friendly to the kids. His overall positive attitude and enthusiasm for the job was what really impressed both me and my husband. We hadn't yet received calls from the other contractors but we liked Avi so much, that we felt like a second meeting with him and his designer felt right. With in a few days, the second meeting just as good as the first, the designer had come with his laptop and shortly after, had a design in place. The next day we had a fair bid. After finally getting a few other calls, we weren't as excited by their responses and how long it took for them to call us back. Avi asked us to come look at some of his current houses. We took a drive to one of his flips and took a look through out. Overall the work was clean, and being a Contractor's daughter (my dad builds million dollar homes in Scottsdale,AZ), I have a discerning eye and know what to look for. There were maybe a few little things here and there in terms of small finishes that maybe were less than perfect, but no job is. After weighing everything out, The choice was made, and we felt that Avi was our guy. We made the necessary preparations and before we knew it Avi was ready to roll! And this guy means business. He brought us to the warehouse to make decisions on cabinets. By Monday morning at 8 am sharp, Avi and his crew was there ready to demo the place! Avi and his crew were ALWAYS on time. They started at 8am and worked till 5pm Monday thru Friday. His guys were respectful and kept the job clean, as they were sensitive of the fact that we were going to be living in the house during the renovation. Keeping the dust under control is tricky, and they always did their best to tape off living areas. They would sweep at the end of each day and get rid of trash. I was often home with my kids and never uncomfortable with them in the house. I was blown away by how quickly and efficiently and hard they worked. Avi usually dropped in a few times through out the day to make sure everything was running smoothly, and if it wasn't was sure to make the necessary adjustments. They moved so fast, that my only struggle was keeping up with the pace in making all the design decisions! To say that I am particular and over analytical when making these choices, is an understatement, haha! Just ask Avi :-) Despite the fact that my indecision drove Avi a little crazy, he encouraged me always with patience and kindness and always said "BROOKE! I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY!" hahah! And he REALLY did. And if I wasn't excited about something we always talked it out and figured out how to make it work. Even in times where he wasn't maybe seeing my design vision, he ultimately trusted it and made it happen. Particularly in all the tile work. His "A" tile guy is particularly amazing and created such a beautiful herringbone pattern in my kitchen. It was a tedious job but he slayed it! I couldn't be happier with the result. Avi had estimated that the job would likely be done in 6-8 weeks. And again, i've seen the Money Pit, and being a contractors daughter, know that these things rarely go according to plan. But thanks to only one minor delay on the counter top, we finished in just 9 weeks! We really couldn't have been happier with Avi and working with him. We just love the guy, and felt a mutual love and respect from him for our home and our family. Despite juggling jobs, he was always sure to make us feel like a genuine priority. As for the house, it is amazing, and the way it flows and functions and feels has changed our lives. Now, to be completely real in this review, there are maybe a few tiny details (mainly in the small tile work in the bathroom and a little stray grout) that could've used some extra attention. But again, I'm aware of the fact that no job is perfect. But it is really good, and we are super pleased. Would we use Avi again? We plan on it soon!
