They have some great stuff here and I really liked the space in between each piece of art, as odd as that sounds, it let you spread out a bit when looking at a painting. The architecture of the museum itself is beautiful and I enjoyed walking around it. It's connected to the Magritte Museum through an underground tunnel so you don't have to go outside.

With an English brochure in hand we explored this small but interesting museum about the citadel and the city. Some of the audio displays are in English but most are in French and Dutch (of course). Even with our limited French skills we learned a lot. If we had more time we would take some of the tours of the grounds/underground. You can wander much of the citadel grounds for free and enjoy the fantastic views but beware they lock the gates at 8 pm in summer and you could get trapped!

While there are a lot of displays with tons of interesting items, there is a lot of reading to do, so bringing small children or those with ADD/ADHD would not be good. But for those that love history, and especially Military history this is an exciting museum rich in history. Plan to spend 2-3 hours or more if you want to see everything.
