Only a short walk from the main parking garage, the Visitor Center was nicely marked with directional signs. We were scheduled for a tour so people were there to greet us, share parking validation cards and offer complimentary water bottles. The seating are for the tours was comfortable. The room is smaller so no bad seats to see the presentation on the big screen or hear the speaker. The Visitor Center is part of a larger student center that houses the bookstore, campus dining, fitness center, study areas and much more. We appreciate the staff and student workers that made our visit and campus tour informative.

The Gatton Student Center is a beautiful, spacious common area inside UK's Business School. The…read moremain seating and study area can be accessed by staircase or elevator. A sculpture is extended above the seating area that offers tables and oversized chairs. Lots of natural light comes through the glass ceiling. Also downstairs is a cafe for food and refreshments. It's great to have an option other than Starbucks and not be forced to walk across campus to access the main dining halls. Gatton also boasts over 40 study rooms that can be reserved in advance or in the moment. You can see upcoming booked times for the room so that you can plan ahead to be out prior. The rooms are great for 1-4 people and offer a big screen for projection. Another cool area in the Business School is the stock exchange room. Rates for company stocks float across the screen similar to Wall Street.

Yes, I went to UK because that was one college that I had applied to that actually had a football program! But unlike UK, this high school actually chose a mascot that makes sense. I have yet to see a cat of the "wild" species. Apparently, the students had taken a vote on Broncos, which is fitting! So it goes to write that I found out that this school, which opened in 2017, had started enrolling and by the end of the season, their football team was ranked 25th in the state! Can you believe that?! It is the highest ranked public school football team in Lexington! So for that achievement, I have a team to follow (not as closely as college football mind you); however, it is still something. Also, I have to write that their website was easy to follow, when I had scrutinized the scheduling and the tour was amazing, very beautiful surroundings and lay out! Apparently, their first game is a scrimmage tomorrow and they actually play more local high schools than last year, one will get to see them actually test themselves as the best public school in Lexington! Who knew that a high school could throw a football team together and have the team go onto being one of the top ranked schools, in football, their first year? AMAZING! (That I know of) I have been fortunate enough to attend 2 KET fundraisers here, (Fabby Abbey Balls) and I must say that it was the perfect backdrop location to fulfill the atmosphere and add to the overall feel that heralds a time by gone. The staff were always accommodating and willing to play along with the themes and converse with the guests. There is also adequate parking tucked behind the side of the building. They do have sororities and fraternities and I think house about 1100 or so students now. I love that they expanded, but wish they had added the equestrian team when I was there instead of 12 years later. It was Spring Break; the students were gone and we had an admissions rep all to ourselves (our little group consisted of three potential students and two parents). Great tour, beautiful campus! Everything was updated, clean, attractive. Our questions were answered promptly and with authority. I do recall there is a big emphasis on studying abroad as my son was very interested in this. Flash forward to an "accepted students" weekend event. Tour was fine, information sessions were helpful, but could the admin not keep the current students from drinking on the college lawn while there were prospective students and families there? I'm hardly a prude...did my partying over four years on two college campuses in Tennessee, but I thought a "visitor weekend" should have been a little better orchestrated! Worked itself out...my son chose Wake Forest. Maybe they party just as much, but I sure didn't see it on our visit weekend!
