During my time in the UK, I knew absolutely nothing about where to shop. That changed quickly when the homie Shay M. was hooking it up with the hints on where to go for some of the good stuff you can only find out here! Enter... ASDA!! It's a grocery store, but this particular location has 2 stores under 1 roof. The Home Bargains store houses "hardline" items as well as a few food and drinks options. It's here at this location that I was able to find and snag the well-known English cookies (or "biscuits" as they're locally called) which are branded as "Digestives." I do believe these can be found in San Diego's Shakespeare restaurant and store, but they're probably limited on flavors and guaranteed to cost more. While here, I found some of the hot sauces Shay told me about. I have a friend who loves hot sauce, so I'll be gifting that to her along with other yummies. The Cadbury chocolate tub was also here, and on sale. 2 tubs for £9!! That's an unbeatable price! There's a small selection of fruits and veggies and also fresh flower bouquets. I love the prices at these grocery stores. If I lived here, I wouldn't worry too much about sales, but the ones they do have make the prices even more amazing! Gotta love it here at ASDA! Smithdown Road ASDA, or officially Sefton Park ASDA. Everything you expect in a large supermarket. This branch has an extra 'string to their bow'....... the staff. Last Saturday, I approached 3 different members of staff with different enquiries I needed resolving. I can only say they went above and beyond what I expected and remedied all my requirements . Many thanks to you all. I had earlier visited the instore Opticians, my original reason for attending the store and was served by a young lady, Kia. She was obviously well informed and trained. A credit to all trainers and recruiters at the store. I have never thought this before but I left feeling as if I was a truly valued customer, due to Kia and her 3 colleagues. I can only recommend visiting this store as it makes shopping a pleasant experience and not the usual chore. I hope the store general manager and department head take note of this review. read more

Let me introduce you to Fat Barry. He's one of the managers at this branch of Asda and for some reason always has a fight with my friend over random things. The last time she was in there, for example, she was buying non-alcoholic wine (new year resolution) and got asked for ID. When she tried to explain that she didn't need ID because the wine wasn't actually alcoholic, things turned a bit nasty. Then along came Fat Barry, who told her that if she was planning on buying the wine, she would have to leave the shop and come back in again. Random, but true. Anyway, Asda on Smithdown Road is a student mecca. open 24-7 almost, there is nothing better than going for your weekly shop at 4am and watching the staff trying to figure out if you're off your head or just an insomniac. Thursdays are also good because of the whoopsies - are you familiar with that term? If you're not, a whoopsy is something that is damaged or out of date and is therefore reduced in price. Thursday seems to be whoopsy day in Smithdown Road so if you get there at the right time you could bag yourself an out-of-date steak for 39p that's only just starting to go green.... read more

Asda in Smithdown Road has become an essential part of students shopping as it is based in such a popular student area of accommodation. It is such a mecca because Asda is already a value for money store that sells such a wide variety of goods which makes it an ideal port of call for students and locals. It is open 24 hours which suggests that it obviously needs to! And no reason to think why not. Asda is perfect for emergencies when you need last minute food, medicine or petrol. Its location couldn't be more convenient. The shop is always busy which shows how much of an important role it has in serving the public. Asda has always been and always will be a favourite of mine whether it's for deli, fish or quick microwave food. Asda is situated right in the heart of one of Liverpool's student areas so is frequented by hundreds of students every day. This is a large branch of Asda which is split over 2 floors. Upstairs houses home wares, the cafe and George Clothing which is cheap and cheerful, stocking the odd gem here and there. The cafe is great for a hangover curing fry up, or a coffee and a chat. The cafe is clean, spacious and tidy and the food is reasonably priced. Downstairs is everything you would expect from a large supermarket. It is well stocked and has a lot of variety. There are a lot of options for every product you can think of and the prices are cheap. The staff are friendly and are always happy to help if you need assistance. The till staff work quickly and are happy to help pack your bags if necessary. The atmosphere at this Asda is friendly, welcoming and fun. I often choose to go here rather than places closer to where I live. read more

The Asda super store on the Smithdown road has been a haven for me ever since I came to Liverpool as a naive student with no idea how to look after myself in the real world . This place is enormous and so cheap it is hard to believe at times, they even do deals for students on basic home equipment in September which is a life saver when you realise you have failed to pack some of the basic essentials which is exactly what happened to me on arrival in the city. The store is located right in the heart of a student hot spot meaning it is always full of people looking to do their cut price shopping and they are not disappointed by what they find within. Even better is the fact this place is twenty four hours meaning that a lazy student who may be nocturnal can decide to grab a munch at any time of the day or night and Asda will be on hand to help. A vast store with fantastic deals and on the whole great convenience. read more

This is were i usually shop, i really do think asda is the place to go, its by far cheaper than most other shops and the quality is great. The shop is well laid out and tidy, isle are well labelled and and products are easy to find.The asda till always have staff on so you dont have to que for to long. There is also a cafe area where u can get snadwichs ect and coffee, which is great when you just wanna sit down for 5 minutes after shopping. read more

The staff in asda are very friendly and happy to help. I come her a lot to do my weekly shop. Very good value for money. Although I do find their fruit and veg section to be badly stocked and usually have no iceberg lettuce. Great as its 24hrs except for Sunday's and bank holidays read more

This asda is perfectly positioned. In the heart of a residential area, also a student hot spot, so is ideal for late night snack runs or going to get some beers in for the footy! Obviously good for a big shop and that cheap breakfast in the upstairs cafe. read more

Asda built this store if my memory allows, about 7 years ago. It used to be single story but within the last 12 moths has added a second floor which is for the clothing department. Great store. Lots of parking. read more

The Asda on Smithdown Road is pretty huge! It essentially has two floors, the bottom floor for food and entertainment and the top floor for George clothes and hardware for kitchen, bathroom etc. It's open 24 hours Monday- Saturday and for about 6 hours on Sunday. It is a very cheap supermarket with a good range of food but the shelves alwasy seem to be empty. Asda is huge! Cheap and cheerful :) Staff always seem to look happy when I'm there (well except for the odd 20 year old looking seriously bored!) and very friendly, they'll make conversation with you. The George range is quite nice too, some of the bags I have seen are lovely and only about £12! When you know your way around the store you'll be fine! read more

The food is perpetually shrivelled and dried up and it's also overpriced. I usually go in the restaurant during a shop with the intention of eating and end up with a cup of tea and a biscuit as everything looks so unappetising! Very poor. read more

Asda is a great supermarket, and contrary to the whole credit cruch business, is still great value for money. I think we all know about asda as there are hundreds of them, so I will end with telling you how great their delivery service is. I recently decided to shop online with them and it has proven to be one of the best things that I have done this year! The service is great including the lovely delivery guy, their flexibility in delivery times and their concept of replacing items on your list for alternatives if you have ordered something that is not currently in stock for the same price of your original choice, even if the replacement costs more. No more tiring myself out in town..whooo! read more

Everything you could ever want or wish for from an Asda store all under one roof - fab! Food, electrical goods, clothes, homewares, music, dvds . . . the list goes on. A very large store - only downside is i spend a fortune when i'm just meant to be getting a few food items! read more
