The Monday before the Friday of our Girly weekend, bearing in mind it is not easy trying to organise a group of busy working females, I received a letter from Mandi to say that she was no longer able to accomodate my booking. The letter was dated a full week prior, however was only posted on the Friday before!!!! To say that I was angered and upset was an understatement. I would not recommend Auchyle to any of my friends and family, as the disappointment and stress caused to me and my friends cancelling at such short notice was unacceptable. When I phoned Mandi on receipt of her letter not once did she offer an apology or sound remorseful.

The morning breakfast was delicious and prepared exactly when we needed to fit our schedules (including a rather early day). Angela was even kind enough to offer to make me some Haggis with breakfast so could sample the local treat. The room was a decently large size for the price as well as being clean and comfortable. The B&B is a short 20 minutes to Princes Street and the train station, we had no issues finding it. The location is excellent. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

The room was clean but for me, the heating was on full blast, so felt a bit suffocating, so we turned it off and for the 2nd night it was on full blast so when we came in at night it was like an oven, so i didnt sleep very well. The bed was pretty solid, n the towels available were very rough, felt like you were drying yourself with sand paper! I noticed whn i was lyin in bed that parts of the roof and wall hadnt been painted, just felt like not alot of money had been spent on the place but maybe it was just our room? As the rest of the place seemed nice. The guy in charge? Was lovely, was very helpful. We only had breakfast on the second morning, it was nice, and a good selection if you were only wanting continental. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but im in 2 minds if i would stay again as i liked it but there were things such as the hard bed, heat, towels that wasnt the greatest but for £70 a night couldnt really complain, as its just a short walk into the town centre.

Very handy came the many AC outles and the free WiFi. The double glassing of the windows bannes the traffic noise pretty good and we slept perfectly well. We booked a tour of Edinburgh, Leven and St. Andrews. I…read morecontacted Andy months ago to arrange a day's tour. This was very important to us as it was to be a trip to my wife's first visit to her mother's hometown of Leven. Andy arranged the day so that we could see the sights of Edinburgh early in the morning and arrive in Leven in time for lunch with relatives. We were able to catch the first tender and arrived on shore an hour ahead of our scheduled meeting time. Andy was there less than 15 minutes later! We were all amazed at how quickly we got off the boat, but thankfully we were able to take full advantage of that extra time because Andy was so early. The tour of Edinburgh was spectacular! We saw the castle from at least a dozen angles and Andy's knowledge of the key sights both historical and mythological was thorough and entertaining. After lunch in Leven we went to St. Andrews and had a delightful tour of that amazing area. Our only regret is that we couldn't spend a week with Andy showing us the amazing sights of Scotland.

He was incredibly responsive to our numerous emails from the US in the months leading up to our trip, and so easy to deal with. In addition to some airport and other cab-type runs, we booked his two-hour overview tour of Edinburgh for the day after we arrived. He is extremely informative about Edinburgh/Scottish history and included some really interesting/less-visited sites for some of our stops. Andy is a smart, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable (and punctual!) man who is great fun to spend time with, and we felt very well cared for. Highly, highly recommend.

The people at the Reception desk were fantastic and very helpful and knowledgeable; getting taxis, giving directions, smiling. The housekeeping staff was great as were the servers in the dining room. It's a bed & breakfast that also serves lunch and dinner, plus has a bar for late night snacks. Breakfast is included in the rate; you pay for lunches and dinners. We ate lots of meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) there; breakfast is kinda typical Scottish (includes tomatoes & beans along with eggs, sausage, bacon plus cereals, yogurt & fruit). Lunch was sandwiches and a few other things. Dinners could be fish/chips or steak or chicken stuffed with haggis, even duck. Internet service only in lobby or bar area, but they also provided a computer by reception. Taxi to Edinburgh City Center was about 10 pounds or so (the streets were torn up; with that & traffic it could vary slightly, but not by too much. We would definitely stay there again! I paid £69.99 as part of an offer. This was for an overnight stay for 2 people, a 3 course evening meal, a bottle of prosecco and box of chocolates in the room on arrival and breakfast the following morning. Therefore, I couldn't tell you the individual price this would normally have been; however the hotel did not scrimp on anything being as it was part of a deal. The room was lovely and clean. Not the largest of room, but alright for an overnight. The staff were very accommodating and informed us when the best time would be to eat (as there was a large group booking in). The dinner was very tasty and beautifully presented. we had the smoked salmon, and pate for starters. Main courses were steak, and I had the chicken stuffed with haggis on a bed of mustard mash. The desserts were gorgeous. Cheesecake with an array of berries around it, and the other dessert was a toffee bomb (ice cream with toffee sauce). Breakfast was a buffet between 8am and 10am fry ups, cereal and chocolate croissants etc. The hotel had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The only point worth noting you are situated along the north bypass entry into Edinburgh at a location where there isn't much within walking distance; however the nearest bus stop is all but five minutes away. Nice location if you just fancy a quiet stroll. There is private parking in the grounds of the hotel too which is handy. Thanks to all the staff for making this a very pleasant stay.
