I have lived at Ashenhurst for one year. Ashenhurst Student Village is located about 15 minutes (while walking) from the Queensgate Campus. It is located on a hill so walking up the hill is not a nice thing to do. The whole village consists of 6 or 8 bedroom houses with a shared kitchens, two toilets, a shower and a bathroom. The rooms are very small, and the beds are not very comfortable. Recently the houses have been refurbished so they look much nicer on the outside, the kitchens have also been refurbished and the have changed the furniture in the bedrooms. There is also a shared laundrette with four washing machines and a iron. There is also a medium sized TV with a DVD player. I didn't like the place very much, it is noisy, and you can hear everything your neighbours are doing. read more

I give Ashenhurst five stars, I had a wonderful time living here. Yes, it is situated on the edge of a rough council estate. yes, it's about twenty minutes walk from town. Up a steep hill. yes, it can get a bit lairy in the evening. Yes there are no decent pubs anywhere near but if (and, admittedly it's a big IF) you get placed in a house with the right people, you will end up having the time of your life. It is basically a housing estate for students, each sleeps eight. When I was there (a few years back now) some houses were mixed with four girls four boys, some were all the same sex). The houses are clean, the bedrooms are small and the security is not the best but I had the time of my life here. I was one of the lucky ones, Huddersfield is a great place. read more

Oh well, what can I say about that place? Ashenhurst is not the best place to live. It is located quite far from the campus, so you can either walk about (15 minutes, which can be annoying sometimes becuase it is up the hill) or take a bus (which is not coming or not stopping on the bus stop sometimes). There are many 6-8 people houses, with 2 toilets (shared!), shower room, bathroom and kitchen. Rooms are very very small. The problem is, the walls are very thin so you can hear everything. Not very good during exam period! Anyway, I won't score it very well, but becuase I have a nice memories from the place I will gice extra star!! :) read more
