Ashley is absolutely amazing! Not only are her photography skills a 10 but her patience is as well! My 17 year old son did NOT want to do Senior pictures and was dead set on a snap shot with his iPhone for the yearbook! I cringed. After much back and forth he said he would do it but really wanted to go into the mountains. Ashley not only drove an hour out to the mountains, she also did a little hike to get the best quality photos! I was so impressed. I don't know how she did it, but Ashley rounded up 21 of our family (plus 3 grand dogs) and did an amazing job taking our family photo. And All in frigid weather the day after Thanksgiving. My partner and I had the pleasure working with Ashley and Randy at Ashley Durham Photography leading up to and during our wedding. Interestingly enough, it was their first California wedding after moving back to Palm Springs from Colorado, as well as their first LGBT wedding ever. So, as to make sure we were happy and that they'd get a comprehensive idea of what we were looking for, we spent time together, filled them in on our history as a couple as well as our plans, for the wedding and life! Also, ran through some peculiarities as to how certain 'straight' things just don't work when shooting a gay couple. They had an open mind, got it all and delivered a smooth and spot-on performance with compliments still pouring in from our friends around the world. It was just a perfect experience all around. The attention we received for the price we paid was excellent. Ashley and Randy blended into our group of guests seamlessly and it felt like they weren't there. Yet, they managed to brilliantly capture the vintage chic, preppy and stylish atmosphere we had been working on creating, including the most natural and simply coolest snapshots of our guests. Among the probably 5.000 photos we received (all in color and black/white) where maybe only a handful of ones we didn't like - but that is most certainly a subjective call. Most importantly, they guided us and we let ourselves be guided as to what they thought would be the must-haves; again, no disappointment here. The attention to detail was great. Shortly after the wedding, Ashley published a quick sneak at what was to come and everyone among our guests couldn't wait for more. Hiring Randy + Ashley to photograph our wedding day was one of the best decisions my husband and I made; I cannot recommend them highly enough! All of the pictures turned out beautifully, everything was perfect, we're in love with the whole gallery--but just as wonderful as the final product was the process. I feel like Ashley was a part of the entire wedding planning adventure; she's a social media wizard, and so warm and friendly, making her really fun and easy to stay in touch with over the months leading up to the big day. I followed her blog and saw every wedding and engagement session she shot, so I got a great sense of what kinds of pictures and moments I wanted to ask for, and I kept her posted on how our plans were coming together, which she was always enthusiastic about. We had a pretty non-traditional wedding--no judgments against tradition, but the way we did it was perfect for us--and I never felt even a hint of pressure to conform to anyone else's "wedding norms". Randy and Ashley were enthusiastic about capturing our day the way we wanted it; it was awesome to be cheered on like that, and to have such confidence through all the preparations that Randy and Ashley would make it all look gorgeous. We had a great time shooting our engagement session in Joshua Tree, and even with the LA-to-Palm Springs distance they were able to meet at our venue and do a walkthrough a few weeks before the wedding, so by the day-of they really felt like friends--I was so comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera! The whole day was just so much fun, and Randy and Ashley are both such funny, joyful, loving people, many of our guests commented on how friendly and easy-to-be-around they were. The candid photos of our guests are my absolute favorites; every wedding photographer will take lovely pictures of the bride and groom, sure, and Randy and Ashley definitely made me feel like the most beautiful bride in the world, but they also caught the most stunning, joy-filled pictures of our friends and loved ones, looking so happy for us, and I know we'll treasure those for a lifetime.
