I found Fairies & Frogs Photography via a Google search and was instantly drawn to her website and portfolio. After exchanging a few emails with Anne I knew she was the one I wanted to photograph our major milestone. Even my husband was surprised with how kindly I spoke about her because he knows how much I struggle with trusting photographers. We had everything planned several weeks ahead of time so I could rest easy knowing everything would be perfect the day of. I was thrilled when we arrived at her easy-to-find cozy studio in Olympia. During this past school year I was trying to put together a fundraiser to help out our high school…read morebooster club and I came up with the idea of a Family Photo Fundraiser. I immediately started looking online for photographers and began to feel overwhelmed so I went to the high school office and started asking anyone who came in while I was there. I finally decided to contact Dan @ Contempo because of the rave reviews that one of the secretaries gave me. She said that she loved her Senior portraits so much that she called him when she got married a few years later to do her wedding pictures as well. At first I e-mailed Dan and told him about my idea and he was very quick to respond and tell me how excited he was to help out. He then wrote me a few of his ideas on options we could offer the families and told me to give him a call. When I did I was so excited to find a photographer who had done fundraisers in the past and knew exactly what I needed to do, since I have never done one. He even told me that he would come to my location, which several other photographers I had called did not offer. We came up with a perfect option for a town that is mostly low income and he even helped me to create the order forms that were passed out to the entire community. During this whole process I never once felt overwhelmed or worried that things weren't going right. Dan is amazingly organized and knows what he is doing. When the day of pictures came he was 30 minutes early and already setting up in the school cafeteria when I got there. As I observed him interacting with the families for the next few hours I was blown away. The first group was huge. It was a husband and wife with their daughter as well as both of the extended families (it was twelve people total). I would have gone crazy, but he was very patient with the toddlers and just went with the flow. He gave them as much time as they needed to get settled and worked with the little ones to get them smiling. I was also surprised to see him taking pictures of not only the family all together but separate ones of husband and wives, siblings, cousins, etc. Overall I just have to say that Dan was amazing and I will definitely be calling him for any photography needs I may have in the future. We went through details and within the month we had booked About The Day to take our wedding pictures. We just got our pictures and they are OH MY Goodness AMAZING! When we first submitted a message on their website, we received a call back the same day...I think it might have even been within an hour. Upon meeting with them, we crossed the other front runners off of the list. They addressed every one of our questions like troopers. We liked that they do not charge a travel fee even though they would have to come all the way to Seattle from Olympia for the wedding. We also liked that for minor touch ups in the photos, they do not charge an extra fee like so many others do. They were super friendly, had a great sense of humor and both of us felt comfortable with them right away. In addition, after much online research, we found that their photography packages to be very reasonable and they even worked with us to include some things that we wanted in one package that weren't included in another. We had them do our engagement photos as well. There almost ended up being a scheduling issue due to a travel arrangement snafu. However, Stephen & Sonia adjusted things to our schedule which was extremely considerate on their part and which we greatly appreciated. We were delighted with our engagement photos and the guest book they were used in. On the wedding day, they were very timely...in fact, we were running a little late. They always kept an eye on the time for us, making sure that we remained on schedule, but never making us feel rushed or awkward. In fact, a lot of my family commented on how friendly they were.
