Salad was swimming in ranch and we didn't get a choice on the salad dressing, it just came with the meal. We were looking for a burger joint and got a fancier place than expected where people sit and relax and are served. I arrived mid-day, just prior to opening and opted to eat out-of-doors. A friendly, thoughtful (and I'm sorry, I must say it, very pretty) young lady brought me a small pillow to fend off the chair's chill on this dampish day and proceeded to help me choose my lunch. My mood dictated some standard German fare and we settled on their Gulash vom US-Beef mit Spatzle und kleinem Salat. It may sound simple, but it was marvellous! There is no doubt that I'd return to this restaurant. I would also hope that anyone else who visits is lucky enough to be looked after by the same wonderful waitress. It is on a quiet street across from Geothe Haus. The sommelier was worth the trip alone. He was right out of a Wes Anderson movie with his curly mustache, bushy beard, tweed vest and quirky way of speaking excitedly about the wine options. The food was the best meal that I have had in a long time. Very well seasoned and innovative combinations. It was a business dinner so I didn't mind the high prices, but it was one of those rare times you feel you are getting what you paid for. I had Burrata Caprese salad which I had always wanted to try- it is mozzarella cheese that is creamy and oozy inside- yum. And then I had rack of Lamb with a salsa and root vegetable puree. Everything was fantastic. Even the aperitif of red peach liquor and seltzer.
