I made my first appointment with Aspen Dental In Bourbonnais afew years ago.Since then I have had root canals,extractions (4 at one time by the way), and cleanings . From the receptionists and dental techs to the dentists have been nothing but professional, kind and courteous.If I had questions about the cost of a procedure or treatment options or details of what to expect during and after the procedure they took the time to explain these things to me. Every time I have an appointment it's always something. Before they needed to reschedule me because the hygienist had something come up. When I called to reschedule they act like I just didn't show when it was them who called and canceled me. Fast forward to today, they want to pay for my visit because they are short staffed and no one has time to verify my insurance. The options I was given were to pay up front or reschedule because they didn't have the staff to do what was needed. After working all night and having an 8am appointment I just wanted to get the shit done. I'm so over the b.s with this office. Don't waste your time going there!!! First off, they are terrible with old people, at least that is my experience. They hit my mom up for half the money before they would even schedule her, then when she showed up for the appointment, they wanted the rest of the money before they would let her see a dentist. I yelled at people, and they changed their tune. I should not have to yell. My mom had already paid them $1400 upfront for the visit. I highly recommend you find another dentist. The Bourbonnais location will tell you your insurance is in network, and then give you a doctor that is not. Almost another $1000 dollars for them to do barely 10 minutes of dental work. Absolutely horrible services. I paid $2200 for the Invisalign braces. Went back into have my buttons removed and they refused to take them off until I had a full exam. Which I didn't need as I have a dentist closer to where I live and my insurance only pays for one set of x rays. I had to find a different dentist to remove my buttons on my teeth. I went to Aspen Dental, Bourbonnais, IL. I waited about 15 minutes at my first appointment. I noticed the office and waiting room were not very clean. After X-rays and short talk with dentist I was asked if I wanted to schedule the cleaning first or the fillings. I thought cleaning was a good idea before the actual fillings. I have several joints replacements and must take preventative antibiotics before dental work. They assured me that would be available when I came for the cleaning. It wasn't. They were 'out'' and asked a second time if I would take amoxicillin which I'm seriously allergic to. So I had to go to the drug store then come back. The cleaning didn't seem as thorough as the many cleanings I've had at other dentists. The room floor was dirty. The tech put fluoride varnish on my teeth without asking and my insurance charged me for it as it wasn't covered. Another charge for " adjunctive diagnosis" also was not covered. I scheduled an app with Aspen for a normal cleaning. They forced me to get X-rays done and tried to get me to pay out of pocket. I had triple checked my benefits and if they were in network and they are but they refused to offer me service unless I paid. After I refused again and told them the situation they finally agreed and afterwards I called insurance and confirmed I don't have to pay. Fast forward to today. I scheduled for a normal cleaning. They called me this morning to confirm the app and told me I would owe $134. I again told them the situation with insurance and that I don't owe anything. They told me no, I was coming in for a special gum skin treatment plan. I was so confused and said I wanted a normal cleaning. They refused and said since the doctor wanted me to have this done then I have to get this done. I kept refusing the treatment and so they told me that it is required and that I can't get a normal cleaning unless I did this first. I proceeded to use very nice French words and they hung up on me. Guess I won't ever be going to any Aspen Dental again. No dentist can force you to get something done that you don't want to. It's your body not theirs. I had not been to a dentist in years ended up needing a tooth pulled. I saw one of the Aspen Dental ads and thought ok. BIG MISTAKE: The office staff was not very friendly. I think the dentist that took care of me was fresh out of school and had an extremely poor bedside manner. She did not give me enough Novocain. When she started pulling my tooth, she had not given the Novocain time to kick in. I told her it was really hurting, and she said, "oh I'm just about done" and kept right on going for another 5 minutes of tugging and pulling to get the tooth out. Rest assured I will never go there again, and I DO NOT recommend them to anyone. read more

I have had nothing but bad service at aspen dental. I had a root canal and crown done there. A year later I had issues with a pus filled blister/abscess at the gum under crown. I went back to Aspen and the dentist read the x ray and said it was due to a bad root canal and that I need to have it re done. Because root canals are very expensive and painful and time consuming, I informed them that I had the root canal done THERE and I do not think I should have to pay for it to be redone. The dentist excused themself and left the room to consult with the dentist that did the original root canal. Two minutes later the dentist who did the original root canal came in to say the infection was not due to root canal, but due to periodontal issues and said I need them to do an expensive deep cleaning to address the infection.... I felt very uneasy that the interpretation of the x ray had changed drastically in less than 2 minutes. I felt unsafe to go back to Aspen for any more work. I had my primary doctor prescribe an antibiotic in hopes the infection would just go away. The blister came back on and off and I just prayed it would go away. I could not take it anymore, it kept coming back and I finally went to another dentist elsewhere In bourbonnais. This dentist stated it was due to faulty root canal but we could do the deep periodontal cleaning first if I wanted because it is least invasive and maybe it will take care of it. I bit the bullet and paid for the cleaning. Suprise, suprise, the blister and pain came back. I moved to Chicago and went to a third dentist up here and immediately she stated it is a bad root canal and I will need to have it replaced. I called aspen dental to explain and to ask them to take care of it free of charge. I was told I had to pay for consultation first. I asked if I paid for consultation would I have to pay for them to fix it. I was told she could not guarantee it.... I'm going elsewhere to pay over $1000.00 to have them fix aspen dental's mistake. Aspen Dental, Lexington, SC. I had a partial made and thought everything was good. A tooth on the side broke off. Called and was told to bring it back and they would fix it because the partial was less than a year. Had it fix and it broke again. I have taken it back for the same repair five(5) times. ONE TIME IT BROKE OFF AFTER BEING REPARIED IN THE OFFICE BEFORE I WAS A MILE FROM THE OFFICE. The last time was told to leave it. It would take up to two weeks because it had to be sent back to the lab where it was made. THIS MEANT MY FRONT TOOTH WOULD BE OUT BECAUSE IT WAS ON THE PARTIAL. When I didn't hear from the office, I called and was told that it was just received. I returned to the office that same day, was I surprised. My partial was NEVER sent anywhere. Go elsewhere for Dentures! Poorly trained staff and very unprofessional atmosphere at this location. They do not know how to make them. Several adjustment appointments to adjust the lower denture in the same area has not even helped. The high piece around the back of my tongue even looks very high when you look at it. Another dentist has confirmed that this piece is what is causing it to literally pop out of my mouth when drinking water. Among the other issues with them making them both unable to be utilized. They are not capable of even adjusting their own poor work. Last time I was there over 1 hour for my appointment before I was even seen. No one let me know of the wait or apologized and then many staff members were out by the front desk having a party, laughing and looking at company t-shirts. When standing there to just ask a question, several ignored until one just said that she "does not know what is going on." There most expensive dentures were even purchased just with a discount card used. Returned the dentures by mail over 30 days ago and they are keeping the $2,442.00 per the very unprofessional dentist who claims that he is the owner and never there. Even though they have a 90 day money back satisfaction guarantee. I have needed to drive back to where I had them made previous prior to moving 50 miles out this way, for them to be made again now and pay again of course. I now have dentures that look appropriate, (not like horse teeth) and can be utilized without popping out and rubbing against gum/bottom underneath tongue area. I have never experienced such a complete waste of time and money. *This location in Bourbonnais IL. had an F rating with the Better Business Bureau and many non responses to complaints until only a few months ago when they provided responses to several of only a few words saying nothing. Then another false attempt to only cover the sloppy behavior is that they provided a letter to the creditor that Mr. Serestis "the owner" was recently spoken to by the Corporate Customer Service Mgmt. Office lol, and he feels that a refund full or even partial, is not an option as the letter states. He then went on to state in this letter that the dentures could be remade. I have a copy of this letter now from the creditor, which was provided Only to the creditor dated less than 30 days ago. This Aspen location have had the dentures returned to their office in Bourbonnais over 90 days ago. The letter says to call to set up an appointment to proceed with the option of remaking them. Then in calling just this past week., someone named Lyndsay rambling incoherently and yelling saying that they had been offered to be remade before but this was never the case. Lyndsay is not at this local office but appears to be some form of a regional manager with limited/altered information being provided to her from the office. Nothing was offered before after already several unhelpful adjustments, as that was the entire problem. Remaking them would have been a wonderful option before as well as now because it was felt that there was an issue with the girl who did the impressions named Aunica initially as she did not seem trained and admitted to having difficulty with the material machine and the material setting. She admitted that the lab needed her to take the impressions again after already numerous times, that I became ill and needed to vomit. I had never had an issue with someone taking impressions and from what I found out, Aunica was doing my impressions during my first appointment there because the more experienced were busy. The dentures that I have currently that were needed to be made elsewhere which I am utilizing fine., they would be able to use for the remake. Since there was no option as they have the $2,442.00 and the dentures since January 11, 2022, both myself three family members agreed to this option being best. However, when contacting the business to set up the appointment, the office manager digressed into verbalizing that remaking the dentures was never an option. They also claimed to not know anything about the letter, yet it has the owners name on it as well. Because this business shows such a complete disregard for patients as well as an oral appliance that is very necessary to a patient, it is necessary at this point to file complaints with the State of Illinois. Besides the fact that the other reviewer outlining her terrible experience made me feel like she was outlining my first experience, these people still owe us money from over charging us and not processing a refund in a timely manner. (it's been months since we requested it...) I had several visits there, some better than others. I changed to a dentist further away because the service was better, they listen to your actual concerns and make your mouth feel better. To me that's value, and that's what I felt was missing here. I notice that the other reviews here are from all over the country. My review is specific for the Aspen Dental in Bourbonnais, Illinois. When I first came to this location, I had already been told that one of my teeth would need to be extracted and replaced with an implant. A different tooth was also in need of a crown (following a root canal) but, because my usual dentist was so busy, I would have to wait two and a half months to have it treated. Because of the long wait, the second tooth was already starting to break down so when I made the appointment with Aspen, I fully expected to be told that I would need two extractions. I was impressed with the staff from the outset. They are all professional and efficient without sacrificing friendliness. Dr. Seretis, a dentist of thirty years experience and the owner, told me that both of my teeth could be saved. Within three weeks, they both had been crowned and neither has given me any trouble since. Aspen Dental has acquired a reputation for shady business practices so when I was asked to pay for the procedures in advance, I thought that it might be a struggle to get reimbursed if I overpaid. This was not the case. When my insurance paid their share, I was reimbursed within a week. My entire experience with this Aspen Dental location has been positive and I hope to continue my association with them for years to come. read more

I made this appointment before moving because one of my fillings had come loose. While making the appointment I told the receptionist that I needed to have the procedure done that day because I wouldn't be able to make it back for a second appointment and that tooth was really bothering me. I came in and they had me PREPAY for the exam before even getting past reception. They took x-rays and sat me in front of a tv and made me watch a video on oral cancer or something. Then the dentist came in and told me that I had 5 cavities (I had gotten x-rays about 5 months prior and didn't have any... strange), but didn't even seem to notice or acknowledge the reason that I had come in in the first place. I then was brought into some office where I was told the 8-15 procedures, including cosmetic, that I would need to have done, (still not mentioning the filling replacement). I was then asked how I planned to pay the thousands of dollars worth of treatment and all the payment options they had. When I was finally able to get a word in and explain why I was there, I was informed that the dentist had just been booked for the rest of the day. Awesome. Now I am trying to get my x-rays transferred to my new dentist and after being called back, put on hold, disconnected, then called back again, they informed me that my mother will have to pick them up and send them to me. In short, horrible customer service, waste of time/money, and a giant pain in the ass to deal with. read more

Bad bad customer service. I drove to the pharmacy and I was told the prescription was not called in. I drove back again to the dental. The white 30 something blonde lady at the front desk insisted that she can not help me verify and kept saying 'we have already called in'. I was left stranded because of their mistake, given the huge inflammation they left on me with their lousy surgery on my teeth. Never will ever go there. Update: I went to ER two days after I posted the first note. They didn't give good instruction on how to deal with the infection. I was there to get a partial made only, nothing else i asked her not to touch other teeth with pick as i do not want any infections because i have had knee replacement and the dentist was rude screamed at me in the office so loud was heard by office manager he freaked out i was crying . The office manager knew that our procedure would not be covered by our insurance. However- she did not tell us that until after the procedure was completed. She told my wife how much the procedure cost- but did not tell her that it wasn't covered- When I expressed my displeasure about this- she said- " I didn't lie"- she had told a lie of omission- since she knew the procedure wasn't covered- and let us think it would be- This is slimy business practice- We still would have had the procedure done- because it was an emergency- but she should have been more honest up front. Also- they definitely try to upsell you. She went with a bad tooth and swollen gum- they told her all her teeth were bad- that they needed to be extracted and that she needed dentures and that she should do this today- I doubt I'll ever use them again read more

The staff at Aspen Dental in Bourbonnais are always so friendly. Dr Semaan is amazing! She is so friendly and very personable. She explains everything she is going to do before she even starts, and makes sure you feel comfortable as a patient. She is by far the best dentist I have ever been to. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place! Went in to for the $19 exam, x-ray and consultation. Asked the guy frank I believe was his name 2 times If I would get billed for anything and he said no. A Few weeks later they billed my insurance 208 dollars. What a nightmare to deal with, this was back in September and now I get another bill for $19 after they gave me and my insurance company the run around bulls*** AND drag their feet on refunding my I I insurance. I have no clue how this place is still in business. I have also never had a cavity in my life and they tried to tell me I had 7! They will sell you work you don't need. Curious. I just got teeth pulled and full dentures. I bought the most expensive ones. 7grand for everything from start yo finish including temps and perms. However I got my temps and they're huge. Like I can't even wear my bottoms as they don't even fit right at all. I've gotten soft lines put in and still horrible. I compared to 4 of my friends with dentures 2 if which have temps right now and mine are twice if not 3 times the size. No wonder I still can't learn to eat, can't talk right, choke on them, etc. I guess my ? is do I have them take new impressions and make new temps at no cost to me or do I get all my money back and go elsewhere. I'm very unhappy and every time I go in and tell them they're too big, I can't wear the bottoms, etc I hear just remember these are your temps. Your perms will fit like a glove. Help! read more

I concur with the first review. I went to this dentist. I did the x ray. I was informed that almost all of my previous filled cavities had to be redone on both sides of my mouth. The day of the appt. They put me in front of a TV for an hour after numbing my month. She then did a rush job because she forgot to call her husband to tell him what time she would be home. After I left, they told me I would have some discomfort for a couple of weeks but it will go away. I was in so much pain it was waking me up at night out of my sleep. I went back and found out that she didn't file it down enough and that is why I was in so much pain. After that visit, you will never see me in that dentist office again and they can keep the x-rays. read more

I will be leaving my former dentist and will be using Aspen in the future for my dental needs. I ended up contacting Aspen Dental due to my former dentist not listening to me. I had a tooth filled by my former dentist and I went back several times over the course of a year to address pain and sensitivity. The only solution they offered was to refill it and this made it worse. I was told it would settle down but the pain increased. Since this had been going on for almost a year I felt hopeless because I knew something was wrong. I went to Aspen and I am fortunate enough to have people that listen to me. I was a little nervous I must say because of my prior experience, but I ended up getting my tooth extracted. Also, I got to address some other issues with a dental hygienist and I really appreciated her care. I feel so much better already. read more

Place is a scam. You see so many of these popping up because they are playing the volume game. They need to sucker in as many clients as possible through their doors for the business model to work. $20 bucks just to get in to see someone and then comes the up-sales. Was told I could get teeth whitening for $299 but not before I paid $20 for an exam. I was told my teeth were great but I should think about using prescription toothpaste. When I declined the toothpaste I was told they couldn't whiten my teeth if I didn't get the toothpaste. So I said I'll take the toothpaste. The quote came to $1400! $299 for the whitening and the remaining for the toothpaste. I told them that's ridiculous and I wished that someone had told me upfront about the scheme. I was shown the door. Again, make no mistakes about this place, it's a scam. They need volume and they need to up-sale you. If they can't sell you, they don't need you. read more

STAY AWAY....I had no choice but to go to the Bourbonnais, IL office because I had lost a filling over the weekend and they were able to take me in 8am on Monday....that should have been my first sign. That is when my nightmare began, prepped me for a crown and had to go home and wait one week for the new crown to be applied. I had no pain when I walked in the door, yet when I left I suffered for two months. Had to take pain pills and 3 refills of antibiotics. The needle to numb my gum was injected into a muscle and that hurt for two months, the tooth itself got infected from day one therefore all the antibiotics. They set the crown and I still suffered for weeks and went back to have the tooth pulled, I could not stand the pain. Uppond the removal of the crown the tooth oozed from infection. I cancelled the cleaning that I had scheduled. After all I have been thru, I would have to be nuts to go back. After all is said and done, I could not afford all that they wanted to do so I spoke with a girl who offered CareCredit so the total amount of $1811.70 was put on this credit card. I have been calling for at least 6 weeks trying to get proper credits applied to my account and it took for me to call a Regional Manager to intervene. He was able to get me the credits due, except the Dentist (also the owner) would not waiver on a Core Buildup charge of $$253.80. Why do I need to pay for some fee if the whole crown was pulled, due to infection. I did not walk in with an infection but I walked out with pain, infection and suffered for two months. Last of all with a bill for the amount of $684.00 for a filling and an extraction....STAY AWAY read more
