Oh wow how my opinion of Aspen has changed. I have a lot to say but I'll try to summarize. 1. Scheduling is awful, or maybe just because I mentioned the scheduler in my first review, that's why I have not had good luck with that area? (Always arrive 10 mins early for all appointments, only to be brought back 30 minutes after appointment time) 2. Communication is awful. My chart says one thing, dentist says another. 3. If someone has a top and bottom cavity on the same side, WHY WOULD YOU NOT FILL THESE ON THE SAME DAY?! Because of this, I am expected to visit TWO more times, which would be a total of FIVE visits. Who has time for FIVE visits to a dentist? (I know you're thinking, but you're the one with cavities - it's genetic, it happens) again, had communication been better I would've known to ask this!! As someone who has ZERO Dental knowledge, I TRUST they are making the proper decisions for me. However, I have learned a lot and will not be returning to Aspen. read more

The dentists and hygienists were wonderful. However I give one star to the billing department. Each time I had an appointment I was given an amount I owed at the end of the visit. I paid it and each time I received a second bill for the same services. I spent hours getting my account cleared up. Therefore, I am changing dentists. Timeliness and quality of care were excellent. I lost a temporary partial within three weeks of receiving it. Aspen was able to see me in a couple of days. Impressions were done in the morning and the partial was finished in time for me to receive it before the office closed. Lisa, Abby, Associate Dentist Ronia Ali, and the team member who manufactured the partial, all played important roles in scheduling, patient prep and delivery of the partial. Eliminating the gap created by an extracted tooth allowed me to maintain my smile and confidence. I was extremely satisfied and highly recommend Aspen Dental in Creekside. read more

But be aware if you schedule a new patient visit - which for the past 10+ years w dental offices, would include x ray and basic cleaning services...not the case with this office. They recommended a deep clean with fillings, came back in after giving them my insurance information quoting me close to $450 out of pocket. I said I'm just here for a routine teeth clean that my insurance covers. They stepped out of the room came back in and stated I wasn't scheduled for a cleaning today. Went in for a tooth extraction and a deep cleaning. Their offices gave me an estimate, but never filed a pre-estimate with my insurance so I was never given the opportunity to know what would be covered in my procedure and what would not be covered. Well, I will start this story with an anecdote of sorts, "If you went into a restaurant and asked for a $10 burger and they said no, you don't need the burger you need our $60 Filet Mignon, what would you do?" if you said walk out that is exactly what I did......My wife and I recently had an insurance change and as a result had to leave our regular dentist of 15+ years and find a new provider who would accept our insurance. I called Aspen Dental and scheduled an appointment stating I have no dental complaints, all I needed was my regular cleaning and provided the scenario with insurance changes. Our insurance covers 2 regular cleanings, 2 dentist visits, X-rays and 2 fluoride treatments annually. Aspen dental said great and set me up for an appointment. Upon arrival everyone was cordial and professional. They did all the new patient stuff, X-rays, Exam, etc.... Dentist saw me and said no major corrections or dental work needed, just cleaning as hygienist indicated......I said great when do we do the cleaning and their answer.....You will need to sit down with the Office manager, go over your treatment plan, costs and insurance and then we will schedule your cleaning.......I walked into and office with the Office Manager and was shown a computer screen with my treatment plan and told, "Your treatment plan is $2000 and your insurance will pay for $1270 leaving you with a balance of $730".....I said, $730 for a basic cleaning and exam that are covered by my insurance.......Than ain't happening and walked out.......You should only have to do what the patient requests and not up charge them. I am going back to my dentist of 15+ years and doing private pay with them to get my cleaning for $122, NOT THE $730 ASPEN DENTAL WANTED TO CHARGE ME. read more

Worst experience I've ever had had a professional Institute. Quoted me a price with one Dentist, ended up having three different dentist working on me. Prepared me for my crown that I already paid for and it cracked the first day and broke off, Couldn't get in for 10 more days and had to deal with a raw tooth. Called customer service and no help just kept telling me they were going to get back within 48 hours. The worst experience I've ever had with a Supposedly professional operation. So I wanted so badly to have a positive experience here due to being a local Canyon Lake Business. This all went horribly wrong when my wife's appointment had been canceled twice. When my wife arrived she had spoken with front desk receptionist Katie. Katie had stated that her appointment had been canceled again due to non-confirmation which had been false. I confirmed the appointment myself. However, that's not what upset us. What was really uncalled for was when the office manager Krystal had become abrasive scolding my wife as of proof, verbatim by Krystal ( you need to check your emails your phone, and text messages for an appointment to be verified )implying it was her responsibility, which had been done. My wife drove home and told me what happened. I called to ask what had happened and well Krystal was in fact less than apologetic for the experience. She was pretty rude to me too. Now I have been here for treatment twice since they had been opened. I had made a couple of appointments in the past which had been later canceled by the office at the last minute, which really wasn't a big deal, but is kinda annoying, being that I had to alter my schedule just to be seen and ended up wasting my day which should have been a work day. I had a good experience when I went to my first visit six months ago. I scheduled my next appointment that day which was supposed to be tomorrow. I made arrangements at work so I could go. Last week I got SEVERAL reminder emails and texts. I RSVPed to all of them. I got a text today that prompted me to call. The gal on the phone said they needed to reschedule because "corporate" only wants new patients on Tuesday. WTF? She offered me a few alternative times that did not fit with my schedule. I asked if anyone questioned this change and she said no. It was my first time at aspen and everything was so easy and smooth from start to finish. I had bad pain from my wisdom teeth and they were able to schedule me and appointment the next day. They did my initial checkup and not even an hour later, I was able to get not 1, but all 4 wisdom teeth taken out. Everyone was so nice and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. Even the payment process was smooth. They offer plans for those who qualify to help you pay your bill in payments that aren't outrageous. WOW. Who has ever been to an honest dentist???? As a former Dental Assistant, I know they are hard to come by! Go see this Guy! "Dr. A"!! Not to mention the guy is easy on the eyes ;-) I was a little suspicious since it is a chain-however I soon learned that it truly depends on the provider in each office! "Dr. A" was extremely pleasant and gave me a couple of treatment options. Now let me tell you, I have been to a couple other dentists for a second and third opinion on a tooth that has been bothering me-BOTH said it needed to be extract. I know to them that means $$$$ however "Dr. A" was patient and kind and explained that we can still save the tooth!!! This is great! I value my teeth and would rather keep them all for as long as possible THANK YOU! Don't let the young doctor fool you-he really knows his stuff! Also I let some people that were there to get him a set of dentures. They also decided not to do business there. This place is AWFUL. The blonde lady working the front desk is really snotty and rude. The dentist who did my filling messed it up and now I can't even chew on that side. They're redoing the filling but I've had to take off work for this and go back when I never should've had to do that. It's a rushed atmosphere that feels like you're on an assembly line. Also, after paying the amount for my services in full at first visit, I was told I randomly owed $500 at my next visit! I was told it was just a computer error. Computer error my a$$! My wife and I have been customers for at least 5 years. My concern has always been the inconsistency in billing. As of 12/20/2019 we just received a bill for $25 from year 2015. My wife addressed the concern of the $25 from 2015 and 2 days later we received a notice of the $25 from a collection agency. We pay our bills on time and most of the time ahead of schedule. My wife's other concern was Aspen Dental may not be giving us the savings from insurance. Where the potential savings was going, who knows. So the collections notice for $25 was a clear sign they don't value their customer. The $25 bill was something they found digging through their records. It's not the first time they have made billing errors. We will pay them the $25 and my wife and I will find another Dentist. This all occurred at the Aspen Dental in New Braunfels, Texas. It was such a blessing when my wisdom tooth on my lower left side started hurting. My husband and I had been driving by Aspen Dental across Buc ees and wanted to try to go to get our yearly check up and cleaning at this branch. I went online and got the appointment the very next business day. We got there and did not wait for so long at the reception area. The dental assistants took some x-rays and has excellent customer service. They made me feel comfortable and rest assured that they all know what they are there for! After the dental assistant assessed my gums and what treatment should be done, she said that the Dentist will come soon. At first, I waited more than 15 minutes and became more anxious. But when Dr, "A" came, he took over and very pleasant doctor to have! My wisdom tooth was extracted and did not hurt at all in the procedure! As soon as my procedure was done, I asked my husband who was waiting at the reception area to come with me at their patient lounge area, to transfer to this facility, which we did! He is now a new patient at this facility! I highly recommend this facility to everyone. From the receptionist down to the Office Manager named AMANDA, when you get there you will be among their awesome "family atmosphere" environment! read more

Before I made the appointment with this office I made a phone call and had a conversation with someone about financing options for people who lack good credit. I was assured that they "work with everyone", that the fact that I've had a job for years and insurance certainly made that possible, that they worked with people without insurance. I felt confident. I arrived and waited 30 minutes after my appointment time in my car before beginning my appointment. No complaints. I was so grateful to find an office that would work with me. After Xrays and a really brief but friendly experience with a hygienist I waited another 30 minutes before I saw the actual dentist. After I finished a brief conversation with him about his recommendations I went to consult with the office manager on financing options. This is where I found out there are two: Care Credit: you need good credit for this or prepay your account before work begins. In other words no options for someone like me. I was told the conversation I had would be a "coaching moment". Nice. If you're like me and don't have good credit and don't have enough extra money to prepay extensive work fast, don't waste your time here. read more

This is the absolute worst dentist office in the fucking world. 1) scheduling an appointment is easy, but when you show up for your 0830 appointment and you're 30 early you're still going to wait an hour and 1/2 before they'll even call you back to the rooms. My favorite thing about Aspen dental is when you're in a room and some of the girls are standing outside of your room talking shit about you right there and you can hear every word they say!!! While I was waiting for one of my first appointments the receptionist help up a lady's dentures in a plastic bag letting her know they were ready, you could tell the lady was really embarrassed because all of us patient in the waiting room watched her get handed her dentures. Some people get embarrassed and to respect that, she should've been called back to a room so that could've been done in a more private setting!!! I paid it off, received a statement with a zero balance and 2 years later the office is reporting to recovery agencies that I owe $100. They screwed me over pretty hard. They said I needed a crown and said it would be $700 with insurance. Then they said my insurance wasn't paying and that it would be $2000. That seems stupid expensive to me. When I go to visit my new dentist because screw aspen dental, he says my crown has a gap in it and needs to be redone. Left at 10:12am without seeing anyone other than the receptionist. Sat and watched other come and go but nothing was said about the wait or delay. My first appointment took 4hrs just to get ex-rays and have a basic exam. That was way too long. I scheduled a cleaning and arrived and the girls said "that will be $170" but I told her that a cleaning was covered by my insurance. So she checked with someone and came back and said "that will be $60". I told them that I just wanted the basic cleaning that my insurance covers and they refused to do it without the extra charge. Unless they can get more out of you, they are not interested. I wasted an hour and now I only have 10 days of the year left to get a cleaning scheduled. The facility is top notch, the energy is great, the service is impeccable and the doctors all genuinely care. You can tell their philosophy is to provide high quality work every time you come in. Beware deceptive and predatory billing. The first visit is "free" for x-rays. I'm not sure if the equipment was properly sterilized or not because I got sick immediately after my visit. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was co-incidental. immediately after the x-rays, they recommend treatments and tried to put me on a payment plan for it. I don't see the need for a payment plan for dental work, so I opted for the "pay as you go" plan as described to me by the business manager. At my first pay-for visit, they treated me like a deadbeat by making me pay in advance for my procedures. For a cleaning, it was $505. Exorbitant, but I figured that's how they pay for the "free" exam. I try to be fair so I paid it without complaining. Don't stop reading here, keep going. Next visit: Two fillings: $301.75. Interestingly, the amount I paid in advance was more than the procedure should have cost. They gave me a small refund for the difference when I left. Here's the important part-- they check your account before you leave. Now it gets nasty. A week later I got a bill in the mail for $416.75. Huh???? So I call. The woman on the phone is confused and wants to "figure it out". She calls me back in an hour with a weird story about how they were only supposed to do "half" a cleaning when I was there, and that's what they charged me for. But the technician did the whole cleaning instead and this invoice is for the other half. Half a cleaning???? Who does that? I asked her which half they were supposed to do, the top, bottom, left, right? She replied that they normally do the whole thing, but because of my financial situation they only charged me for half. "Excuse me, my financial situation???" I asked her to explain that. "Well, since you weren't able to pay the whole amount..." What an insult. I'll spare you the ensuing argument. My financial situation is just fine, than you very much. Her story gets more and more convoluted. It sounds like a made-up backfill to justify some weird billing they do. It is dishonest, It is deceptive, and it is expensive. $900 for a cleaning? No one ever told me that number. Believe me, if they had ever told me the cleaning would be $900 I would have politely said "no thanks" and gone to a more reasonable dentist. I asked her why it was so expensive. Her response: "Well, it's a lot of work." "Yeah, I know. I was there. It was less than an hour and there was only one person involved." "It's quick," she said, "but it's a lot of work." "Yeah," I said "less than an hour's work for one person." Honestly, the fillings took more time and there were three people involved. (one was a difficult filling that required a more experienced assistant for some reason). To be clear, I don't mind paying for expensive services. I don't mind overpaying for some things, as long as I know what I'm doing and it's MY CHOICE to do it. But these kinds of sucker-punch billing practices are pure evil. Stay away from places who practice this kind of deception, and let them know how you feel about it too. These are people. They have a conscience, mostly. When they hear enough times that they're involved in evil practices, maybe it'll sink in and they'll find more honest places to work. That's my recommendation. read more

I've read alot of negative reviews about this dental clinic and was reluctant to go. CAVEAT: I've seen my share of dentist who where terrible throughout my years however, since it was close, they accepted my insurance and I was in pain with a bad tooth, I went. The receptionist was really nice and booked me the same day to see the dentist. Dr. Altawaty (Dr. A) and his staff treated me with respect and were nonjudgemental about my bad teeth. He prescribed antibiotics and scheduled for a tooth extraction vs a filling (upon my request) for the next day. Prior to the extraction, he explained everything that he was going to do in detail then made sure that the area around the tooth was completely numb. Everything went very smooth with no issue! As someone who has spent hours in a dental chair over the years and know good and bad dental clinics, this IS NOT a bad dental office. On the contrary, I highly recommend Dr. A and his team! I called this office and scheduled appointment 2weeks in advance based On conversation with whomever answered the phone. My appt was for 5pm on 21st. I received immediate email stating time and date with patient info forms that I printed and filled out. On Monday 1/18 I received another email asking me to confirm appt, which I did and on 1/20 I received a txt msg reminding me of following days appt. Wow! This place seems to be on top of it ! Right? WRONG! On 1/21 the day of appt I received a call at 9:30 stating that they close at 5 and would not be able to fulfill the obligation. I told Ashley this was not acceptable, she said if I could come in earlier 4:15 I needed to confirm with my employer about taking off the additional time and I called her back 15 min later confirming that I would be there. I arrived at 4:19 papers filled out completely and handed to staff member and had a seat. 15 min later I was called up to the counter and told they would have to re schedule me to next available date. Really! Furthermore she said my appt was for 3:45. When I asked to speak to Ashley she was preoccupied on the phone. Everyone feels that their time is valuable as do I. When I contacted the "Unhappy" patient call center Michelle was very empathetic and attempted to connect me with regional supervisor but have yet to hear from her. I will update post if and when Aspen Dental shows they value patients ! 4 days later Ashley from the New Braunfels location called me 7:30 pm And she still could not answer satisfactorily about what happened to me. She asked for me to schedule another appointment, ha!! I would always be skeptical that they would somehow botch My exam, X-rays etc. I just hope this post helps someone to Avoid this location until they have a Major overhaul of key personnel including the "area manager" Ashley who never called me back! read more
