Bait and Switch Had an appt with this endodontist today. Was told over the phone my consult fee would be between $100-120. Drove an hour and a half to get there and was then told the consult fee is $498. Office staff had no explanation as to why I was told differently aside from X-rays (which I just had a week ago so wouldn?t need again). Very upsetting and unprofessional experience. I went to Aspen Dental with a treatment plan already discussed, expecting to move forward step by step. However, when I went in for my appointment, things were not clearly communicated ahead of time the way they should have been. I was in the chair, being numbed, and it was only at that point that it became clear they were going to do THREE root canals in one visit. That is a very invasive procedure, and it should have been fully explained and confirmed with me beforehand -- not while I'm already in the chair and committed. The dentist also seemed very rushed, which made the entire situation even more stressful and gave me a lot of anxiety. It felt like things were being done quickly rather than carefully, and that added to how overwhelmed I felt. The numbing process itself was extremely rough and painful. I was visibly and audibly uncomfortable, and instead of slowing down or checking in with me, the dentist continued. I felt rushed, overwhelmed, and like I didn't have a real chance to process or make an informed decision before such major work was done. There was a serious lack of communication and care throughout the entire visit. I left in tears and in significant pain. No patient should feel that way after a procedure like this. I will not be returning, and I strongly recommend others make sure everything is clearly explained and agreed upon BEFORE sitting in that chair. read more

They advertise for $299 dentures per arch, when in fact they charge almost $500!! Complete lie yes the actual denture yes, but the fittings, the office visit everything else is extra added on! They also say 2-3 days when in fact it takes 2 WEEKS there is no possible way it could be done in 2 days!!! read more

I had one visit to the Rome, NY clinic. When scheduling my first "new patient" appointment, I asked to have the routine cleaning done along with the initial X-rays during the same visit as every other dentist has done (I move frequently, so I am familiar). They said ok. I waited about an hour before being seen for the X-rays, then was asked to wait to get my cleaning done for another thirty minutes only to be told I needed a "special deep cleaning" (to be rescheduled) and was denied getting a regular. I get cleanings every six months- my teeth are not gross and have very good oral hygiene. I later learned that they have "forced" patients to get extra things done if they know insurance will cover. A coworker had been told she needed crown replacements and when a second opinion was given, she was told she didn't. "He said she said" but staff also could have been less aggressive. Changed to a different dentist and am very satisfied. read more

They told me I needed $30k in dental work. They could give me a loan of $2k at 43% interest and make a payment arrangement for the rest. They also wanted $600 up front before even submitting anything to my insurance, which was on the screens, to see what they would pay and what my copay would be. One of the doctors I saw was so rude when I didn't want him to spray a cold spray on my SORE tooth or bang on it like it was an episode of The Flintstones that he just walked out of the room leaving me wondering what happened! He also blamed me for refusing their "kind" offer as described above for the pain I was in! If my teeth were so bad to need that much work I'm surprised I still had teeth! I only go here for emergencies and over the course of 2 decades I've had to go to Aspen for 3 emergency visits for wisdom teeth, 2 broken teeth, and an abscessed tooth needing a root canal, the pricing and up charge other than what they say has sent me to this review. They will take advantage of you and even lie to get more money. They told me I would have to pay out of pocket for my whole root canal then I would have to place a claim into my insurance company to be reimbursed personally. Turns out they charged me out of pocket then turned in the claim into my insurance themselves. They take advantage of people who are in need and will smile to your face as they extort more money under the guise of "help". I can only imagine they do this to take advantage of their older customers so they can extort more money than what was agreed upon. I can only imagine this isn't legal and only hope someday I will see the Aspen Dental Corporation in the hell in which it deserves to be in. If you wipe your ass money, enjoy, the work is ok but if you are struggling with money, they will take advantage of you, sadly. They would have 4 stars if they weren't such a greedy organization because the novicane shots hurt a little. The work they have done is ok but due to the extortion part of their accounting when people are in need, wish I could do ZERO stars. read more

I would not recommend going to this office. They are not professional. They do not wear uniforms. They don't address who they are. It was my first visit there and what happened as I went in the I told I was there to establish care so right away they should've been reading my chart. I told several people that The panoramic films went fine when I went to the next room I don't even know the girls name she jammed the x-ray in my Severe pain in my mouth I asked to see the manager they did absolutely nothing and they were screaming at me on the way out there. It was a very hostile environment. I would not recommend it for anybody. I'm also going to their office because it was totally hostile. They created a hostile environment for me. read more

I went to Aspen, Dental in Rome, NY for a free cleaning that was offered. They x rayed my mouth and then sent me bill for almost $900. I did not have ANY dental services provided to me. I only went there for a free cleaning. They sent this bill to a collections agency. I have called this bank telling them I did not receive dental services from Aspen in Rome. They will not cancel this bill and I have been paying service fees for services I NEVER received. I have visited Aspen Dental in Rome and they will NOT cancel this bill. They left me waiting in the reception area for an hour and I could not speak to the manager. The bank and Aspen Dental both say the other has to cancel this bill, but it just goes back and forth and I am paying service fees and my credit score will suffer because they are billing me for services NEVER PROVIDED!!!! read more

I have been pleasantly surprised by the excellent care I've received thus far by the staff at this office. The office manager, hygienist and others have been courteous and Dr Myers and Dr Odutola have been kind, compassionate, and professional. I went in intending just to get my exam and cleaning and discovered while I was there that Aspen offers their own brand of aligners, which I have been interested in for quite awhile. It was only a few weeks before I was able start my treatment! And the price was more reasonable than a leading brand (plus the nearest provider in Syracuse couldn't get me in until September!) I am more than thrilled with my experience here and highly recommend this practice. read more

I've been going to the Aspen Dental in Rome for close to a decade. Every single time I've been treated with the utmost care. The dentist, Dr Myers, does a great job at making people feel comfortable and calm, and he has the softest most gentle touch when working in your mouth. The current hygienist, Anna, is also a wizard. Usually when a hygienist cleans your teeth, you either feel like your teeth are spotless (but you paid for it in bloody gums) or they're still dirty (but the hygienist was gentle). Anna somehow manages to get my teeth feeling spotless while also being very gentle. I truly love going to the dentist because I get to go to professionals like Dr Myers and Anna. read more

Went to Aspen Dental in the Nashville area when a crown came off. Fortunately I was not in pain, so I figured even a modestly competent doc could handle reattaching it. They got me in the day after I called, which was also good. The doctor I got was more than competent; she was compassionate, thorough and helpful in explaining my situation a options. She also did a fine job of reattaching my crown. The cost was about $200 without insurance so perhaps a little high but certainly worth it to have peace of mind. read more

I just got back from having a root canal. The doctor who performed this procedure caused me a lot of pain and left a lot of excoriations in the bottom of my mouth and around the floor of my mouth that he was quick to point out was my fault as I kept moving my tongue. Hello,....I didn't have any control over that and you are the dentist who is supposed to figure it out, not to leave me injured. He went way too fast and as a result did not take care to do a careful and thorough job without causing me injury. When I finally escaped the torture room, I then proceeded to have to wait in the waiting room for 1/2 hour to schedule an appointment for a crown.....I finally lost my cool, went to the front desk and asked them to call me and I left. If this wasn't the only local dentist that takes my insurance I wouldn't go here again. read more

I'm a new patient at Aspen Dental in Rome, NY. So far, I've had only good experiences with the dentist and the staff. They are patient and kind. I have dentist phobia (which I've clued then in on) and when I go off on my nervous chatting they have been very patient. I had an extraction recently, done by Dr. Myers (the African American dentist) and I felt no pain and no pulling and tugging on my jaw. I didn't even know that the tooth was already out. So, he did excellent job with the Novocain injections and the extraction. I have 2 more extractions to go and I hope to get him again. Keep up the good work guys! read more

Went in with an emergency and all they wanted to do was sell me additional services that I don't even believe I needed. All you are is a dollar sign when you walk in. Unless you have money to throw away run fast. I would give them negative stars if I could. They are out for money. Try to stick you with dental care that your insurance doesn't cover. I went for routine cleaning and got suckered into $350 cost share. Also had to fight the bill I kept getting. Billing is not local. Went for cleaning again and this time they wanted $144 for something at every other dentist I have been to is no cost to me all covered by insurance. Lots of BS. I walked out. I have no complaints. However, I would offer a word to the wise. If merchandise, such as electric toothbrushes or other products are "recommended" by the hygienist on your first visit and you nod courteously or say OK, it means you agreed to buy it. Just be sure to ask to see an itemized bill BEFORE you sign the acceptance form. I did return the electric toothbrush I accidentally bought to the office and will receive a refund. This was handled courteously. Overall I was very pleased with the service and treatment. Waiting time was only a few minutes from time of appointment on both visits (new patient exam, evaluation, cleaning, X-rays, etc plus having an old crown that had come loose re-glued, and a second appointment to have a cavity filled) Service was courteous and competent. Both the dentist and hygienist Melissa (not the same hygienist as my first visit) did a great job. I will continue as a patient. read more

I scheduled a simple, routine cleaning appointment with this office because they are located relatively close to my work place. I was told that the the soonest I could be seen was 30 days from the day on which I called, which I reluctantly agreed to. I arrived on time to my appointment but was then told that because my dental insurance had been updated that it first needed to be verified before I could be seen. When I originally scheduled the appointment, no one from Aspen asked me if my dental insurance had been updated, nor did they inform me that if it had been updated, that verifying that updated insurance information was something that apparently would have to be done before I could be seen. After waiting almost 40 minutes I was told that it had taken too much time to verify the Metlife group dental plan that I have through my work and that the dental hygienist could now no longer see me and that I'd have to now reschedule my appointment. This was a spectacular waste of my time and is hands down the worst, most dysfunctional experience with a dental office I've ever had. read more

Terrible "dentist", the whole time I was in there, the appointment was more about what they could sell me instead of my dental health. I scheduled a procedure to be done there and was asked to pay in advance, after thinking about it I decided I would go to a dentist that seemed less like a used car salesman and more like a medical professional so i called to cancel the appointment and ask for a refund. I asked for the refund on the 17th of may and have still not received it, I have been forced to dispute the charge with my bank. Save you time and avoid this office. read more
